Givers, Takers, and Fakers Cafe

deerinrainboy.jpg
The Chosen Fawn
Kristin Mae Photography

"Mummy said that monsters aren't real. But they are real."

Hypersocial pittie.

Humpdays.

Border collie keeping a balloon aloft.

These dogs are so happy just to touch grass.

Cute: Helping a lost dog find his way home in an apartment building.

Flat-Earthers cope and seethe over the Artemis II launch. They'll be on Tuq'r Qarlson next week.

A white otter.

Baby sea otter.

I linked this Faker before:

Taker:

Finally: The Givers.

This post got ruined since I drafted it. "Takers" was supposed to be a hilarious video of a girl's shepherd which keeps stealing every single toy she picks up. It runs over and takes it out of her hands and hoards it on his dog bed. It does this for like 20 toys in a row and the girl just sits there looking at the camera like "Do you believe this?"

But that video got deleted in the past hour for some reason. So I quickly found some random dog "taking" video to replace it.

Oh well. I kinda liked the theme before that.

so we're back to the bad old days when these videos would be up for an hour and then were taken down by the time I post them.

These guys all steal from each other and have to take down their videos when they're caught. For a while they had a system where you could steal a video but the original poster would get some of the money for it, but I guess this account is back to just stealing.

so he ruined my post.

This is why I had switched to instagram and youtube for a while -- the videos I got from twitter would be taken down by the time I posted the cafe.

Those flat-earthers are real -- they truly believe this stuff. Now, some are just grifting, getting "engagement" hits and all that, and some are just yanking chains, but on the whole, they are real.

When you first see their lunacy, it's so crazy and stupid you can't believe anyone could really believe that. They do.

I first got to looking at this stuff about year ago, after I saw a comment on one of Don Pettit's X posts of some video he took on the ISS of star trails (check his feed out, he posts fantastic pics and videos). Some idiot called him filth liar and devil worshipper.

A couple of my favorite flat-earth "arguments". Airplanes don't dip their nose to follow the curve. If the earth were round, pilots would have to be pushing the stick down to follow the curve.

And then, "pressure requires a container". The earth could have an atmosphere exposed to vacuum without a barrier to keep in from being sucked out into space.

And similar, how can water stick to a spinning ball?

And they demand pictures of people in Australia being "upside down".

This stuff is child-like, and they think they're really debunking a spherical earth.

The Firmament. A big ol' dome. They take the azimuthal equidistant projection of the earth as reality. That maps the south pole to a circle (distance from the center, the north pole, is the actual meridional geodesic distance).

They think Antarctica is a big "ice wall" that surrounds the whole thing. The base of the firmament is down there at the edge of the ice wall.

143 A thing that is ridiculous about the the flat earthers is that they don't ever posit that there is this unique distinction about flatearth that would not hold for any modern astronomical model and when you test this distinction it proves their model. Because of course they wouldn't. Their model is unfalsifiable. And furthermore they explain every observable fact that is clearly indicative of a non-flat astronomical model by creating behaviors and altering their flat earth model to abide those observations.

So, in the end, they have recreated the entire non-flat model but simply transferred onto the set of rules of their flat model. They've actually done nothing but re-expressed our standard modern understanding of cosmology just in a different, complicated, weird system.

Or said in another way, f'em.

Read the list and it is a line of liberal GOP types like Lawler in NY, Fitzgerald in PA, etc. and the two delegates from Guam and one other territory.

I suspect that when the provisions are fully read out, some of those cosponsors are going to be dropping their names from the bill. Interest groups from Chamber of Commerce probably wrote it for them as Salazar was too stupid to even know provisions of what was in it.

In reading documents from the massive RFK and JFK assassination dumps, Howard Hunt popped up repeatedly despite the fact he had been retired from OPs and the CIA. In fact, right after Watergate, Hunt was pursuing a claim from the CIA about some money the agency owed him (1972).

And later in a document (I think 74-75 era) he and his lawyer were cozily discussing Howard's book after his Watergate conviction about how the CIA should make like CIA was hostile to Hunt's book being published to increase the sales.

Currently reading William Colby's biography and I see the same crap as our current CIA color revolutions are doing except in the 1950's and early 1960's.

I can see why Mike Pompeo did not want those JFK and RFK documents releases as they paint a mosaic of handlers paying money to all sorts of CIA retirees to do odd jobs, ditto for former assets even in the US. Mentioned one asset was a editor for a regional press conglomerate (probably AP or UPI), and so on.

Oh, yeah, that's another good one. "Local sun" (and local Moon, and maybe even local Polaris and stars).

You ought to see their day/night "models". The sun is like a little flashlight circling overheard over that disc flat earth.

None of that works. The geometry is all wrong. See the variation of the altitude of Polaris vs latitude. If Polaris were as far away as it is, everybody would see it as directly overhead. Now, bring it closer, much closer, like a point on the dome. Now, it the altitude would vary with latitude, but no in the same way. It would still be visible in the southern hemisphere.

It's stuff like that that just blows me away,

Do vets check all animals now for STD's due to gay furries? Please tell your cat and dogs (and goats, Tucker...as they probably need it).Or don't tell them as it's probably stressful enough vs worrying if they have STD's.

Son has a business trip to Australia this summer and I am going to tell him about this concern of mine (he's not gay, nor Australian, by the way).

This constant effort by some to exert will over others. All self-justified. All self-righteous.

We don't need angels and demons. We are the angels and demons and everything in between. The angels and demons among us are the worst.

Ski swings (I prefer weights to kettles) should be all glutes and arms as a by product, but never go higher that your shoulders.

I need to get it together, Piper. Wish you lived closer as I'd pay you to kick myself back into shape.

Is there a Pure Barre near you? Go take classes! I am telling you, you will not regret it. It won’t be overnight, but you will end up with the best core you have ever had, plus it’s fun, it changes every day so you don’t get bored. It’s a very easy sell for me because of the changes I have personally experienced. The physical changes are great, I am not going to discount that. But the mental change has been even better.

248 Barely Scary Mary - I have a lot of people with fused discs, etc. I help them modify, and modifying is absolutely fine. Do what you can and build, a strong core helps alleviate back issues, it’s your best defense. I would not go ham on deadlifts or anything until you have someone with you or you can tell you are staying out of your lower back, but walking, crunches (use a ball behind your lower back, light grip under your thighs, all things you can do to help your back), wall push ups are another great option as you build strength and protect your back.

251 Apropos of nothing, we got texts this week telling us that Samsung messages will be discontinued on July 6, and we should switch to Googly Messages "to keep chatting with powerful features." Also a text from AT&T that they will be "shutting down the AT&T Advanced Messaging" on July 6 and we need to switch to Googly.

Ugh. I have avoided almost all things Googly for so long!

So I've begun the tedious task of researching messaging apps. So irritating. Who did what or got paid what to force this on us?

Another hilarious flat earth thing was something dubbed "The Final Experiment". It went like this. They got the flat-earth leading lights to agree that a 24 hour sun in Antarctica would be impossible on their silly pie under the dome with local sun "model".

And there's a giant conspiracy to keep everyone away from Antarctica. "Men with guns" will shoot you if you get too close to the Ice Wall.

So, somebody offered to fly them down to some spot there, open during the summer, where they could see the 24-hr sun circling the horizon.

Some of them chickened out and wouldn't go, but some did. And yep, they saw the 24-hr sun circling the horizon. "Where are the men with guns?!", one of them asked his buddies back home. All the rest of the flat earthers claimed that was all green-screen CGI, and the ones who went sold out to the conspiracy.

=====
From Brave AI but good summary,

Google Messages is widely considered the best default texting app for Android, offering RCS support, a clean interface, and free web integration, while Apple Messages remains the top choice for iPhone users with its iMessage capabilities.

For users seeking free alternative phone numbers, TextNow and TextFree provide unlimited texting and calling over Wi-Fi without a carrier plan, making them ideal for temporary or second-line use.

If privacy is the primary concern, Signal stands out as the most secure option with end-to-end encryption by default, whereas apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Messenger are better suited for general social communication and group chats.

RCS is the newer standard on most smart phone messaging apps on Android but if not all parties are using RCS (which is encrypted end to end) then you default to SMS which means one or both of the texts are unecrypted back and forth. Apple's iMessage is end to end encrypted.

Signal, WhatsApp, and others are NOT SMS protocol and don't have to even be sent to or from a phone (computers, tablets, etc. can do it).
