That painting hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago, and is well worth a visit to see. It's a small work, one of a series of oil sketches Sargent made of friends of his. Another in the Art Institute is a sketch he made of Charles Deering, the Florida developer and a patron of his. These are among my favorites of Sargent's work, more like his exquisite watercolors than his big society portraits.

Painting is an allegory, a parable about fountains of misinformation spewing forth out of the modern media. Hard to enjoy a pleasant scene when the chemtrails above presage doom. The Italian fellow lazing about is an indication of modern, Western men sleeping while the world burns.

One of the aspects of Sargent's art is the way he captures and uses light. It may be shadows but this one is brilliant sunlight, reflecting off the white clothing, light colored stonework and especially the water fountain. The greens and blues are darker, of course, but still soft so they contrast gently with the lighter colors.
Sargent is known for his straight portraits but I actually prefer his less posed scenes like this one. They are pleasant and soft. Posted by: JTB at April 10, 2026 10:00 AM (yTvNw) 106

I think she's detailing the various ways Italy is going tomscrew over Europe and America in the future.
Or creating an alibi until whatever's going in his food takes effect. Or his nightly after dinner walk turns adventurous. For "Two and a Half" men, they just should have had Kutcher be the new Charlie, keep all 8 seasons intact and just have Alan have a 'Dallas' dream sequence where he dreamt Charlie was older and less attractive. Running joke. Character relationships intact. And the show would have maybe stayed funny and watching would not have felt like razor blading your ballsack. Why is Pope Leo meeting with Obama's top strategist, David Axelrod?
Catholic voters make up a very large percentage of MAGA voters. This is another part of the Democrats strategy to try and dislodge those voters from Republicans. You know the party of anarchy, abortion, euthanasia, gender subversion, homosexuality and countless ills they’ve thrust on society. Posted by: Vengeance at April 10, 2026 10:42 AM (Kkd7+) I'll be charitable for two seconds and hope that Axelrod is considering converting. Posted by: LASue at April 10, 2026 10:47 AM (lCppi) 226
>>yes this is what they're attempting
we conservative-leaning Catholics are already fed up with our liberal co religionists so I highly doubt it will work Jury is out until we see what the Pope does. But I can’t think of a faster way for the Catholic Church to reverse the current trend of people, especially young people, coming back to the faith than to embrace Democrats long march against everything good. Congregants are already tired of how the last Pope subverted church teachings by embracing Democrats many actions which are antithetical to the gospels and church teaching under the guise of “love”. when we have a new branding project our timelines now (using Perplexity to assist in the brand research piece) have compressed considerably.
we still have brand marketing staff! but we can handle more projects simultaneously and the "drudge work" part is basically gone. it's been really great. a good example is when we do extensive cleint/customer interviews. Used to take forever to compile, transcribe and pull together those. now it's a day. this means we can DO MORE INTERVIEWS! which makes for better information. we do check Perplexity's take on the data tho, and really we don't use that. It tries. It's good to sort of bounce off and some people like seeing where it's off. But so far it's not making up stuff at least so that's nice lol. still just a very helpful part of the process. The Fountain, Villa Torlonia, Frascati, Italy
John Singer Sargent The Fountain, Villa Torlonia, Frascati, Italy (1907) is an Impressionist oil-on-canvas painting by John Singer Sargent, featuring a luminous,,,plein air scene of friends Wilfrid and Jane Emmet de Glehn. Wikipedia, in part: Jane Erin Emmet de Glehn (born Jane Erin Emmet; 1873 - 20 February 1961)[1] was an American figure and portrait painter. Jane Emmet's career began while studying at the New York's Art Students League and she later studied under Frederick William MacMonnies in Paris.[10] She then travelled in Europe to view the work of the Grand Masters and continue her studies. After returning to America, she met and married the notable British impressionist painter Wilfrid de Glehn in 1904 in New Rochelle, New York. Following their marriage, the couple honeymooned in Cornwall, England, vacationed in Paris and Venice, and made a permanent home in Chelsea, London.[10] A lovely John Singer Sargent painting of other artists lounging at a charming fountain in an Italian village. Nevertheless, I wouldn't hang it. Thanks. Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at April 10, 2026 11:03 AM (NFX2v) 278
