Good Wednesday Cafe

mesasforever.jpg
Dave Probasco

Also called Spy Wednesday.

Monkey papparazzi caught Punch the Monkey canoodling with his fuzzy "friend."

A very elderly chimpanzee, dying of thirst and hunger as his body shuts down, has a visitor -- his caretaker from years before. (The chimpanzee then savaged the old caretaker, raking all of the skin off his face. But before that -- heartwarming!)

How to combine bad-ass with painfully dorky.

Everything is cute in Japan.

Chinese miniature building artist.

Orcas absolutely merking dolphins, whales, and other prey.

Baby moose runs and frolics like a puppy.

We are all fated to be nibbled by crows.

That's the idea. Do some big check outs and testing while in orbit. When they do the apogee raise, they get in a very high elliptical orbit with about a 1 day period. TLI to the Moon will be after that.

Idea is to check everything out before they even attempt the TLI.

That Mylar canister can be seen lying on the surface of the moon in some of the photos that Armstrong took. I like the idea that there is some litter from my family on the moon.

Orion is running N2/O2 mix, 70/30, IIRC. Pressure will vary from about 1 atm to 10 psi. Very different from Apollo.

They've got to worry about pre-breathing for suit ups and all that, and the whole was designed around that.

Submarines aren't designed for optimal strength/weight as much. Every increase in strength for whatever purpose requires mass. Mass is bad and projects will actually put a dollar amount on mass and contractors will have $$$ fines placed on them on each pound overages of target design masses for their component.

That's at least a day away. This is very different trajectory than Apollo. They're first using the ICPS to go to a high elliptical orbit with a period of about 24 hours.

That will expend all the ICPS fuel. The Orion SM will have to do the final TLI burn to raise that to the Moon.

Apollo TLI had a lot more wiggle room. This manuever is tightly constrained.

Everybody generally has to pee like a race horse when the get in zero-g. Floating around, all that fluid in your legs, held there by gravity starts moving to the center of your body. Your kidneys start dumping it.

In fact, zero-g can mess with the the bladder full sensors your body has. One poor astronaut got up there, and then pissed all over the place before he even knew he had to go.

The Apollo solid waste system consisted of a plastic bag you taped to your ass. And remember this is zero-g, no gravity to help pull things loose. They had to use their hands to help. And then they had to put some anti-bacterial stuff in there, and knead it all in good.

Also what kind of computer gait analysis would not be able to tell the difference between a long legged white woman with a particular leg injury, and a short legged black man.

He's not going to outright say it maybe because its too soon but I wouldnt be surprised if we annexed the entire strait and put it under american control

theres a lot of pieces here that all point to asserting American hegemony over the global oil trade that will prop up the american dollar as nations panic and buy energy from the US, as well as give china and eurotrash the middle finger

296 Common Tater: although all this is true, Mossedegh had dissolved the majles (=parliament) and was purging his military and courts, and banned opposition press. The Shi'a clergy, "hardline" or not, had reason to fear they would be next. So did the shah at the time (born "Khan", now "Pahlevi"), at that point the last constitutional bulwark.
Mossedegh if he'd been allowed to continue would have plunged his country into a civil war. The USSR to his north would not have ignored this; it wasn't exactly stable itself at the time, being contested by Malenkov and Khrushchev.

297 290 Control of the Hormuz is key. But not for us. For the EU.

Trump's going to clear it out, then tax the living shit out of every tanker heading to Europe. They think 8 or 9 Euros a liter is nice... it'll be 18 or 19. On a good day. Bet it's more like 30 Euros this time next month.

I think Europe is rightly fucked.

As they should be. China and Russia can only hope they'll get oil at 30 euros or whatever a liter.

On the money. He's not going to let it go. They owe us a lot of money for expenses to clear up this mess. That's going to take a lot of oil.
And we haven't gotten to safe passage yet.

Agree. He's bound to be tired. I don't think sick, but a lot on anyone. Hope he's resting and sleeping...altho I read he only sleeps 4hrs a night.

I don't think he was short of breath, just a different tone for him. Respectful in his message vs his normal self that we see. Respectful of the 13 men and women warriors who died and their families.

Every night, prayers for him, VP Vance, their family and friends, and cabinet. For a wall of protection and good health.

That any plan against them fail. I have prayed this since he was shot, and certainly since Novembe 2024. He's a man on a mission and he's winning. He needs our prayers, and I thank God for him.
