Indeed. Also suitable for ice cream. And various breakfasty fruits and syrups, even yogurt as long as there's enough syrup.

More than half a century ago, MiladyJo and I made our first domestic purchase together, a waffle iron from Montgomery Ward's. Tried to use it recently and discovered the heating element now cooked the counter it was sitting on more than the waffle. Sad.

Here's where I wander off a while and come back to a deluge of too many comments to catch up on.

Hey! Yes, she is asleep, but on the couch. The meds and everything from the day is making her dizzy when she stands up and she is worried if she has to use the restroom. Her bedroom is upstairs, she wanted to be sure I could hear her. She has oxycodone, but she is just so little, barely a hundred pounds, so it’s messing with her.

87 What’s “Civil” about government authorities confiscating cash?

I get it, they believe the currency is the product of illicit or illegal activities. But the Western legal theory is a presumption of innocence. They have to prove you’re guilty.

Except …. with “civil asset forfeiture”. So, the novel legal concept here - they charge the cash with a crime, not the person. Pretty slick, huh?

If it's a solid pill, maybe scored, you could cut it in half when she's not so dizzy. Or if pain hits later tonight or in the morning. She may not need it (hope not).

Ice packs for 24hrs kept our sons from any swelling, which prolongs healing and adds to discomfort. Soft ice packs to each jaw and tied with a wrap or dishcloth. They looked like loons (or bunnies) but cooperated.

Had them done on the same day. The younger was a pale, sleepy and groggy mess from anesthesia. Older guy was giddy and yappy and bled more (I told him this and he slept). Did pretty well after the first day. By HS they were both taller than me so my husband had to walk both to bed.

Ice really is awful at first but then numbs. My kids's baby sitter did not use ice and it showed, so that was what I reminded them about.

It's the classic example of a 'wartime expedient' that becomes normalized for fun and profit. The drug trade was so lucrative that it was possible to bribe just about everyone involved using untraceable cash, so cash itself was made the crime, but once that happened, motivated prosecutors decided to just roll with it, any every Depression-era grannie who didn't trust a bank with her life savings became a criminal.

Also, staying at the Historic Anchorage Hotel, built in 1916 when Anchorage was a fart in the wind. Very nice room, built in bar, king bed, nice view of 4th avenue where the sled dogs run for Fur Rendezvous and Iditarod, and the mountains. Walking distance to the theater for tomorrow.

We have our girl about once a week. She gave me the cold, but it is worth it to be part of their lives. The cold did not faze her.

The older two consider this their second home. We are very lucky they are 10min away.

I'm also lucky that my dude loves babies and kids. He told me a week ago I was "hogging her" and demanded equal time. Never having girls (brothers and sons) it's interesting to see how they react to their Dad and grandfather. I think they flirt from infancy. Both girls tried to remove his moustache and grandson didn't notice.

Yes, really that was the plan. Morton-Thiokol was ecstatic about this, as one might imagine.

As sole source provider of the SRBs, they were a bit touchy anytime it was suggested that maybe other firms should be allowed to bid for booster production. This was a controversial issue, and “some say” a factor that led to NASA management having more leverage than they ought to have had over Morton-Thiokol, pressuring them to sign off on cold weather launch.

166 >>Strikes have been reported across Iran in the cities of Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, and Dezful, as Israeli and U.S. strikes target Iranian regime, IRGC, and other infrastructure throughout the nation

Probably a bad idea for Iran to hit an American air base in Saudi Arabia in the middle of peace talks. Terms are just going to get worse.

The terms should be every place not filled with civilians becomes Dresden.

168 Oh, the Honda Point grounding when the USN lost I think six Clemson destroyers at once because of poor navigation.

And the USN simply pulled more Clemson destroyers out of mothballs.

"Tragedy at Honda" by Charles A. Lockwood is available on Kindle. Bad as the disaster was, it could.have been much worse, with an even greater loss of life.

170 147 Vandenburg SLC-6 still exists but has been adapted and might be launching Falcon and such now.

Along with the pad you need a processing facility with high bay cleanrooms and s**t. I'm not sure if it was ever built or is still there but repurposed.

Living near Seal Beach and the former McDonnel-Douglas (now Boeing) rocket plant*, I've spotted a couple of buildings that I recognize as path-finders for similar facilities at the Cape...

*most of it's gone now.....same with the MCD airplane factory at Long Beach airport. From the 405 I used to be able to see MD-80's, etc in final stages of assembly waiting for their final paint parked alongside the runway.

172 Somehow, malaise overtook NASA. The once bold giant of American exceptionalism was allowed (somebody sold it to them) to wilt into the dumbest idea, the Shuttle.
Oh, we're not going to the moon or mars or do anything brave, we're going to near outer space and tinker around.

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi terror group says it is ready to intervene militarily in the US-Israeli war with Iran under certain conditions, including if new allies join the US and Israel or if the Red Sea is used to launch attacks on Iran.

Military spokesperson Yahya Saree makes the remarks in a televised speech.

“We affirm that our fingers are on the trigger for direct military intervention,” he says.
