Lawyers for Musk and Tesla filed a motion in Delaware's Court of Chancery seeking the recusal of Chancellor Kathaleen St. J. McCormick from overseeing consolidated shareholder lawsuits, arguing her conduct "create[s] a perception of bias" that taints the proceedings.
The explosive filing centers on activity tied to McCormick's LinkedIn account following a federal jury verdict in California that found Musk liable over tweets he posted in 2022 about his $44 billion Twitter deal.
The complaint includes a screenshot of a LinkedIn post by Harry Plotkin, a Southern California-based jury consultant who worked with the legal team that sued Musk for securities fraud in San Francisco federal court.
"Sorry, Elon. Sorry, Quinn Emanuel," Plotkin wrote, referring to Musk and the law firm that represented him.
"Thanks $2 billion for your help in this trial. It was a pleasure working against you. Congratulations to the trial team at Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP and Bottini Law for standing up for the little guy against the richest man in the world."
The filing alleges the post was promoted by McCormick's account, with a banner above it reading: "Katie McCormick supports this."
McCormick has denied intentionally endorsing the post, claiming she was unaware of the interaction until LinkedIn notified her she had used the heart-in-hand "support" icon, according to the Financial Times.
"I either did not click the 'support' icon at all, or I did so accidentally. I do not believe that I did it accidentally," she wrote in a letter to attorneys.
As alleged in the filing, LinkedIn's "Support" reaction -- shown as a heart cradled in an outstretched hand -- requires a deliberate selection from multiple options and is generally interpreted as a stronger endorsement than a standard "Like," which is the platform's default, one-click response.
A separate LinkedIn post criticizing Musk also drew engagement from the judge's chambers, with a staff account "liking" a message saying "so many people who should be so deeply ashamed of themselves seem incapable of being so," according to the filing.
In the filing, Musk's lawyers argue the LinkedIn activity strikes at the core of judicial impartiality, writing that the posts "are not simply negative criticism" but "inflammatory," mocking Musk and his attorneys while celebrating a multibillion-dollar verdict against them.

They refuse to recuse themselves even when their is blazing evidence of bias precisely because they are biased and emotionally invested in the outcome of the trials they rig.

The main flaw with the system is that it relies almost entirely on honor and dignity to restrain judicial abuse. No one can force a judge to recuse themselves, so they don't. No one punishes a judge for letting a murderer go free 87 times, so they do. No one punishes a judge for making stupid rulings, in fact they get promoted by Democrats. There's no cost.

All of that and more was supposed to be prevented by having sober, honorable, dignified men who loved the law and justice over themselves. And as a last resort, legislators can remove them from their office, but it almost never happens, and is almost impossible to even make happen.

On the plus side, a lot of these judges are also completely corrupt and have likely committed other crimes on the side, because if they feel so arrogant as to abuse power in high-profile cases, you can be sure they did it elsewhere.

I think Trump has been letting Boasberg and crew drag things out because they knew there would be stuff coming out about a criminal conspiracy to deprive him of his civil rights, and we're seeing more of that.

All impeachment does is remove a judge from a bench. Jailing them is better.

It's about how you approach it. It is not a single, cohesive work but instead a series of essays. You don't have to read it in order. Many of the chapters are effectively standalone in terms of characters (especially humans).

Skip the first part, which is very symbolic and about the creation of the world. Dig into the early chapters about the origin of the elves and stuff. Or the darkening of Valinor. That's the good stuff.

Christopher Lee recorded himself reading bits of it, and it's great. People love it because it is severely *metal* with heroes fighting against impossible odds at a scale well beyond LotR. Dragons are actually involved in battle, and don't always win because the heroes of old were frickin' HARD.

Miss Linda made me watch the 2025 film Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. I'm no Bruce fan; he mumbles when he should be singing. But the film, focusing on his depression as he put together his 1982 album Nebraska, was pretty darn interesting. It's a drama, not a documentary. If nothing else, the 1970s-1980s cars are fascinating.

231 200 142 I must confess this Tolkien Day that I've tried three times to get into the Silmarillion, and never succeeded. Read the Hobbit and LOTR several times, but Silmarillion doesn't work for me.

I'm sure all you hard Tolkien buffs are revved up that none other than Stephen Colbert is writing a script for a new LOTR movie.

The Silmarillion is fragmentary as it was simply the manuscripts that Christopher found of his fathers that were most complete and unless you are really interested in Tolkien's world building mythos, a bit confusing, depressing, and hard to connect like a massive Russian or French novel is for some.

The rest of Tolkien's unfinished bits are worse; useful if you want to know what he considered the mythos behind the Trilogy. If you want something a bit more complete from Tolkien than his mythos back stories, read Sir Gawain and the Green Night, Pearl (this is a translation from older English), or my personal favorite--Farmer Giles of Ham.

If you track it down, there is an interview with Springsteen's original manager who got fired somewhere about the time of Born to Run was released and right before Darkness and he was replaced by red diaper baby Jon Landau.

Basically, Springsteen wanted to be famous and celebrity over that of being a unique musician. His original manager wanted him to go another way like his earlier stuff.

Landau is probably the one that pointed Springsteen directly at becoming much more political as Landau himself was very politically left in his previous career as a rock journalist.

Not true. These were his first writings and they make up discrete narratives that are somewhat linked. It's closer to a Conan the Cimmerian collection. The places and characters repeat, and build upon each other, but the episodes also somewhat stand by themselves.

It is darker than LotR because it was written in the immediate aftermath of World War I, and that gives it the raw, brutal feel that sets it apart. But it is also supremely heroic, with Beren and Luthien doing the impossible and stealing jewels from the very crown of Morgoth. Epic.

And even when the good guys lose, they go down fighting hard. Hurin being taking alive after slaughtering 70 orcs by himself, Fingolfing, High King of the Nolder engaging Morgoth and single combat and wounding him permanently.

It is great stuff. Also: no hobbits.

It's about how you approach it. It is not a single, cohesive work but instead a series of essays. You don't have to read it in order. Many of the chapters are effectively standalone in terms of characters (especially humans).

Skip the first part, which is very symbolic and about the creation of the world. Dig into the early chapters about the origin of the elves and stuff. Or the darkening of Valinor. That's the good stuff.

Christopher Lee recorded himself reading bits of it, and it's great. People love it because it is severely *metal* with heroes fighting against impossible odds at a scale well beyond LotR. Dragons are actually involved in battle, and don't always win because the heroes of old were frickin' HARD.

He also said that it is pretty popular to believe that Samwise is "better" than Frodo, but Sam hadn't had to carry the ring. That revisionism. Thus, JRRT is saying that Sam would have failed too--perhaps even earlier.

These elves are not the ones from LotR. Much more impulsive and violent. And in the early battles they completely kick ass.

The dwarves are cool, too, fighting Glaurung the dragon and wearing steel masks to defeat his heat, forming a ring around him and pounding him with great axes. Beautiful.

Not a tremendous fan of heroic fantasy. I reread the original trilogy about 5-6 years ago but simply lack the interest to tackle it again. More so with the Simarillion or Christopher's other edited volumes. Doubt I will ever read the Hobbit again.

The Bible itself is a true heroic epic on a level far beyond even Tolkien.

And Easter is not just one day, it is until Ascension Day.
So yes, Christians still celebrate Easter.
