A recording of a dispatcher contacting Saginaw County Animal Care & Control confirmed a 911 call came in about 1 p.m. Wednesday from a St. Charles resident. "Caller has a monkey wearing a diaper that's on their porch trying to get inside their house," the dispatcher says in the recording. "I guess it belongs to their new neighbors." Officers arrived to find the female spider monkey, named Brazil, had already been returned to its home next door. Authorities confirmed Brazil's owner was the same woman who brought a squirrel money into the Bay County Court Facility in 2017. The monkey was inside the woman's purse when she put it through the X-ray scanner. Michigan does not have any laws prohibiting monkeys as pets. St. Charles does not have any local ordinances limiting primate ownership.Congratulations Michigan. Sounds a lot like something that would be reported through the Pittsburgh scanner. March 25 (UPI) -- Philadelphia International Airport celebrated National Cheesesteak Day by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest line of cheesesteaks. Airport eateries from PHL Food & Shops teamed up with the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation to assemble 1,291 cheesesteaks on the concourse between Terminals B and C on Tuesday. The sandwiches were made from a total 225 pounds of cheese sauce, 990 pounds of shaved beef and 1,291 foot-long rolls. A Guinness World Records adjudicator was on hand to confirm the snaking line of sandwich was enough to create a new record.Hmmm.... The Philadelphia airport delays were previously attributed to TSA funding and staffing, but apparently there is another explanation?! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

The New York Times ran an article today claiming that a person on Hegseth's staff told everyone that when arranging military visits, Trump will refuse to stand next to black women. They contacted the person who allegedly said it and he said they were full of shit.
But you'll be unsurprised to lear that Jonah Goldberg 100% believes it. People on Twitter are currently roasting him with the many, many pictures and videos of Trump standing next to, shaking hands with, and hugging black women. Posted by: Ian S. at March 28, 2026 10:15 PM (Aq1uz) 30

The usual, tarbender, unless there is a special healing energy drink for tomorrow. I almost fell asleep watching tv at 6:30pm vs 7:30pm. A new record.
I am going to bed by 10pm tonight to see what happens. Tomorrow may be a good day as there is always hope. Today was a great day except for lingering fatigue from the dam virus. I've turned our 7mo old grandgirl into a pyromaniac by always giving her bottle near the fire. She knows I control it with a remote and stares at the fireplace til I light it. Today she rolled (not yet crawling) towards the glassed in fireplace we tell her is hot. I think she may be a bit crazy, but very pretty. Photos by the cherry blossoms later in the bachyard. A good day other than feeling like a zombie. The only mistake in nursing I can think of was as a student nurse working on the floor I later was in charge of. A RN/mentor/friend had me give my first Fleet's enema to an elderly woman the night before surgery. It became a Fleet's douche. After we went to the nurse's lounge to compose ourselves and laugh, I apologized and hit the right mark with another. She was very nice and I didn't kill her. Phil Rizzuto, Hall of Famer and longtime Yankee Broadcaster was notoriously afraid of lightning. The patient was also very clean for the surgery.

1) More cars on the road mean you are more likely to end up with two assholes side by side going 10 under. 2) People can only track so much activity before brains lock up. Dirty Dancing: Baby was that actress who once had a big nose, but then had plastic surgery and no one recognized her (this is not in the movie).
I think people ignored her or she was not popular and shy, as I saw the movie a long time ago. It was at a camp of old people in upstate NY. Patrick Swayze was the dance instructor (and still alive). He/they fell in love and he taught her to dance and "no one was going to put the big nose in the corner." Or something. And the dance was grand. What is not grand is that brides sometimes make grooms learn this for their reception (so I read). I hope at least one groom drops Bridezilla. If any of you lady's did this forgive me. All my groom had to do was show up. He DID revoke our promise of the brief kiss after our vows, and kissed me so hard I beat him with my bouquet. I could hear my father snickering. This is more disjointed writing than usual so I am going to bed. Good night and send energy rays and good thoughts to me during daylight hours. lol! My sis in law was a nurse, at times she worked ER, sometimes she’d float on night shifts. On night shifts one of her duties was to give the nightly dosages to all the patients on her flow. So she was horrified when she realized one night that she had switched medicines and given one man a very strong heart medicine instead of what he was supposed to get. She was horrified, realizing she could have killed him. She agonized over whether she should tell the head nurse, but she went to her and said “I’ve done something terrible!” The head nurse said “What was it?” So she told her. And got the surprise of her life when the Head Nurse said “oh that’s all! They gave my late father a double dose of nitroglycerin in the ER one night a while after his heart attack and stents. He was having a bad angina episode. It was human error pure and simple. Two nurses read the same order and the second one didn't know the first had already given it. His vitals crashed, but they got him revived pretty fine, no damage done. This is why they've instituted those procedures where they scan the bracelet and ask the patient name and date of birth for every medicine or procedure they do. That is to try to eliminate the possibility of errors like that happening. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at March 28, 2026 11:05 PM (w6EFb) 170

Posted by: Tom Servo at March 28, 2026 10:59 PM (ZPDpH) I nevah did! Lawsie. I taught (as a clinical instructor or the fancy adjunct professor!?!) a group of a dozen RN students for 4yrs. Four long years of at least one giving me diarrhea weekly thinking they might kill someone.Husband and sons always knew which student. The first day I met them I told them it would take a lot of trust for me to let them give meds alone this year. A lot. That they could kill someone. This seemed to sink into their pea brains. Thanks be to God they could not give IV meds, as you had to be a real RN. The last week of my last class two made med errors, and one with a cardiac med.The only time. They were mortified and I was po'd as I drilled this into them. They got careless and admitted it. The girl was almost sobbing. One dingbat girl, with a heart medicine where she had to LISTEN to the heartbeat with a stethoscope, asked me if she needed her stethoscope. My sarcastic mind thought, "Well, unless you want to be Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and put your ear to her chest, indeed!" Seen that - in bumper to bumper traffic, one guy hits the brakes and three miles back, it's a full stop. Just don't go to town is all I can figure. The traffic jams here involve two neighbors that live next to each other but haven't seen each other since last spring asking, "How is every little thing?" Or cattle on the road. There's speculation FIncke could've had a TIA, or some other "brain glitch". In zero-g, fluid redistributes and there is a slight increase in fluid pressure. This is known to cause vision problems sometimes, which can take a while to recover after getting back on the ground. There doesn't seem to be any evidence of similar "brain glitches" in zero-g, but they are reviewing all the flight data to see if there's anything they may have missed about that -- something minor that might be related. It's very plausible that the fluid shifts could cause something like this, and it might vary with the individual, with some being more susceptible to it. It's possible it was just some random TIA-like thing that just happened, not related to spaceflight, it just happened to him while he was in space, too. Yep, prolonged zero-g/micro-g is very bad long term, in all sorts of ways. Too much g is a problem as well. The gravity tolerance of a human (and plants and animals) is really unknown. It will be some 1g +/- some factor. That factor is unknown, but probably pretty small. Absolutely not much know about say reproduction in something other than 1g. All life on earth has developed under 1g, it's baked in the cake for just about every biological process there is. traffic jams on multilane roads are made worse by snots who jump back and forth between lanes because one lane appears to be moving faster. Sometimes when I'm towing the BAT and traffic is slow and go I'll pick a car in the left lane and match its pace as I'm able, not speed up if my lane is moving slightly faster, and then use my cushion to speed up when they do, its much easier to do this when my total vehicle length is extra long. I saw a trio of traffic cops get traffic moving nicely on an interstate by driving beside each other for a mile or so once to interrupt the cars darting around and making other people have to brake. And as I can I leave a little more cushion with the next car and I pay attention so that I don't have to brake hard when traffic slows and then have to take longer to get back up to speed.

Show your work, Dave. Posted by: Cicero (@cicero43) at March 28, 2026 11:29 PM (JkO4W) No. I feel pretentious being technical here, but it’s a matter of centripetal acceleration. What is mimicking gravity is that the curve of the spinning section is rising relative to you as it turns. When you turn and run in place your motion is parallel to the ships structure, but is not falling so you can’t counteract the ships motion. It is interesting to think about what would happen if you were able to run along a track inside that curved section opposite to but at the same speed as its motion. You may be able to take great leaps, but as soon as your feet left the floor you’d lose traction and experience the pseudo gravity again. Posted by: Tom Servo at March 28, 2026 11:39 PM (ZPDpH) 213
Something I did not know. Your sense of "up" depends on some very non-zero g load. Just a little won't do. Turns out that range for humans appears to be 0.16 - 0.38g, mean being maybe 0.2g That's over 1/3g required for some. The Moon's gravity is on the low end of that, and it turns out the Moonwalkers did have some trouble with "up". It made it hard to notice tilting, say if the LM was trying to lean. They were top notch physical specimens all of them, and and they adapted well. You may have seem the "Moon pratfall" videos of the Moonwalkers stumbling and tripping and all that. That marginal "which was is up" problem contributed to some of that, turns out. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at March 28, 2026 11:43 PM (w6EFb) 214

I'm sure he did but I think it's also easy to forget what he went through in his first term. It was the first time in US history we didn't have a peaceful transfer of power. Virtually the entire federal government that has the power to take down countries was dedicated to destroying Trump. And us. Trump was on defense from day 1 and almost nobody wanted to work for him. Now everyone does. Trump beat Biden as easily as he beat Harris. The only difference is we've all seen behind the curtain. And we won't ever forget. The Coriolis force is also a bitch for rotating artifical gravity. That depends on the rotation rate. A small, high speed set up is very bad. To minimize that to acceptable levels, you need large radius, low RPM. Keeping something like that in balance with mass shifts (people and cargo moving around) is also a big problem. Get out of balance and start tumbling. I've seen ideas of using to dense liquid that you can pump to and fro to compensate with a control system. This is not as viable as a lot of the "realistic" space movies like to make it out to be. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at March 28, 2026 11:48 PM (w6EFb) 219

I wonder how you differentiate anomic aphasia from basic forgetting words. I forget words all the time, always have. I think this is sort of a common phenomenon as there's a whole phrase to describe it; "on the tip of my tongue".
So, is it the scope of forgetting, like you forget a great number of words? Or is it the criticality of the specific words, like forgetting your own name or the name of a close relative, or a very common word like "the"? Posted by: banana Dream at March 28, 2026 11:48 PM (3uBP9) 221

Charlie Duke fell backwards, on his backpack, once. Said it really concerned him at the time, because he didn’t want to break something or cause a leak. I know there was at least one supplemental oxygen container in those charged to 6000 psi, so not a good habit to get into, bangin’ on that thing.
Charlie said he had a really weird dream before launch. The dream was, they were on the Moon, him and John Young, driving the Lunar Rover. They found Lunar Rover tracks already on their first run. They told Mission Control about these tracks, and they wanted them to check those out. Find out where they go, who was making them?? Who could it be? A few things that would easily improve traffic but aren't being done...because the government wants more traffic:
1) Raise speed limits on highways: They were mostly built for 50s era cars to go 75 MPH. 2) With less of a focus on speeding then you can get around to ticketing tailgaters and people that park in the left hand lane. 3) Design off ramps to have their own lane BEFORE the onramps. This gets rid of the merge difficulties And 2 and 3 alone would get rid of most of those traffic waves that cause all the phantom "there is no accident why did traffic just come to a stop?!?" moments Posted by: 18-1 at March 29, 2026 12:12 AM (sKqQm) 249

---------- Application of fungicide is in order for your "Althea" (Rose of Sharon?) Take it outside for this. Chemical and sprayer are available at home improvement store or even walmart. Be sure the spray covers undersides of leaves, too. Not sure which plant is "Emerald Beauty" -- I'm guessing a cotoneaster in this case -- and don't know what, if any, solution could be had given what you describe. Perhaps a stem-dip in rooting hormone powder? You'd need to uproot it from the soil *again* for this... sounds like there's not much to lose at this point, but at least you'll have the product for *next time* you take a cutting. Glad the kalanchoes are okay so far-- move them away from the diseased plants. That's all I got.
