79 I like the detail on the mirror and really like the subtle use of color in the clothing. The relatively indistinct reflection of her face and hair is bothersome, discordant, against the more realistic features of the woman and furnishings. I don't know if that was deliberate.

I wouldn't hang it. There is a 'so what' quality, like a snap shot without context. It doesn't make the viewer, at least not this viewer, think of a story line to go with the image. It's not a bad painting, just not inspiring.

I woke up about half an hour ago, and, as is my routine, checked for e-mail and texts, then pulled up The Comics Curmudgeon and Instapundit.

Imagine my joy to see, before a 7.05am post from Stephen Green about the murder of Sheridan Gorman, a post from Sarah Hoyt noting that she is re-reading and enjoying my first novel, The Director's Cut!

I don't know how to post a link, but it's there. Perhaps someone more savvy than I can mention it on the Book Thread?

Anyway, perhaps I'll have more sales? It makes me happy, and that's such a rare feeling that I'm going to the cofveve shop with my notebook and write.

At this point in the war, well, that's the next step, and it makes sense. They will go in there to remove the last vestiges of the islamic regime, the armed ground forces of the IRNG (or whatever, who cares?) which will allow the real people of Iran to come together in some sort of equitable governing system.

And it's not like we are sending our boys to their certain deaths... quite the fucking opposite. They are the best trained and best equipped force ever seen. They won't be beaten.

Yes, it's dangerous, and of course some may give their lives, but isn't that what war, and peace, is all about?

Because Senate Democrats didn’t end up accepting the Republican offer on DHS funding & negotiations fell apart yesterday, Dems will get *zero* of the ICE reforms they had been demanding, including ones that GOP had already agreed to, like showing ID, increased Congressional oversight, agreements to not hit sensitive locations, etc.

These reforms were the reason Dems started the shutdown in the first place, and now instead of getting a few concessions on their demand list, they get none.

The only thing they secured was no funding for CBP & ICE, which are largely already funded via the OBBB, and Republicans will seek to fund them even further without Dem votes in reconciliation instead
