Well, Tech Crunch is showing its ass again. Yes, parental responsibility is key and should not be taken away lightly. However, State and Federal oversight is quite often ineffective and unnecessarily intrusive. On the other paw, parents these days are often too lax in the oversight of their children's online activity. A neutral policy is perhaps the best way to balance interests. The problem is too many people want to control what happens without regard to anyone outside of their clique.

I have a friend who did live in Baltimore and raised goats. The city told him to either leave and take his goats with him or they would serve them in the school lunch program. He left that beautiful city and now lives in rural PA. Baltimore isn't the same city it once was where you could even have chickens. Now you need a armed guard to protect any live animals.

Sound like a plan? I'm not gonna be his surrogate mommy! Posted by: JQ Our two kids (biologically, the missus') are taking care of their biological father, who is afflicted with terminal cancer fueled by him failing to see a doctor for over a decade. He basically spent his retirement years (a decade or so) voluntarily shut in, while playing video games. That, and occasionally teaming up with the son's idiot in-laws to mindlessly parrot leftists' talking points. Anyway, both kids are taking turns tending to him at his home. Son took a leave of absence from work under the Family Leave Medical Act, through which his wife assured him his workplace will be required that his employer will take him back without let or hindrance. So income stream lessened at his home, the domicile of the two gKids, of whom I speak here fairly often. The stricken father, now home bound and incapable of moving himself, has become an anchor who will bring down both of his kids futures, because assisted living facilities won't cater to his every need on the spot and they are something with which he and his two kids will not abide. He is being a selfish asshole and his kids will be the victims. Posted by: Krebs v Carnot: Epic Battle of the Cycling Stars (TM) at March 21, 2026 05:00 AM (P8t9A) 26

The orchard and farm adjacent to our neighborhood once had a variety of farm animals on view. A horse and pony, a pig, a hutch of rabbits, a peacock, several goats, and a cohort of ducks and chickens. Over the course of two decades that collection, outside of the cohort of ducks and chickens, had dwindled down to the peacock and one goat as of last fall. I'll have to go pay a visit soon to see who is still with us. It was a great place to take the gKids on our walks when they were younger. I can empathize with our kids wanting to care for a parent as he is leaving this life. My sister and I did that for our own mother over the course of six months and it was tough as we were not trained for the totality of what care meant. Mom also was ambulatory, by and large. However, both my sister and I were retired, financially sound and not responsible for anyone other than our selves and our spouses. We were not subject to the judgement of an employer for our continued financial well being. Nor were we afflicted with beliefs that an outside force -- the gubmint -- had matters in hand and would "take care of us", to use that simp in the audience's phrase from the Bush / Clinton / Perot debate at the University of Richmond in 1992. I do not think that our two children are reading the room well for these times. That is the nub of it. Yesterday afternoon I made my reservations to travel to Kansas in April, using basically the northwestern route Teej suggested a few days ago. I'll get to see NW Arkansas, SW Missouri, and a portion of eastern Kansas too, including a stop at a non-chain hotel in Fort Scott, KS. It bills itself as a "hotel and day spa." Gonna be interesting.

A TikTok content creator recorded a now-viral video this week claiming he received an email from "someone who works at Alo" who looked up Kirk’s account and found that she spent over $1,000 the day after her husband was assassinated. The TikTok creator, who displayed the receipt online, mocked Kirk over the timing of the "shopping spree."

Looking at KS houses on Realtor, I find I like the entire look of them better than I did the ones in Indiana and Kentucky. So, maybe there. I ask little: a nice cottage, 2-3 beds, no fixer-upper, with a bit of a porch and a garage for my car to sleep in. Maybe an eat-in kitchen with a back door out onto a small yard. Come to think of it, this trip is taking place on almost the same dates in April as did my big move to CO twenty-nine years ago. That was also a three-day trip, but it took nearly twelve hours a day thanks to the Ryder truck being governed to 55 (!). The Buick is loafing if I do 55 and nags me to go faster.

On the moronic California law requiring age verification on Linux. This is a Conspiracy in restraint of trade from Microsoft with the CA government. That is a felony violation of 15 USC 1 which fines conspirators $100,000,000 and individuals involved in the conspiracy $1,000,000 each plus prison sentences. Anyone who doesn't think President Trump would love to fine and imprison the members of the CA government for this does not understand El Presidente.
