The Morning Report — 3/19/26

Morning Report intro.jpg

Good morning kids. So yesterday a 7-ton meteor almost slammed into Cleveland, and today we have this. . .

On Wednesday night, the Washington Post reported that "U.S. officials detected unidentified drones above the Washington Army base where Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth live" and that those officials have not yet determined where they came from. . . One of the sources, who the newspaper says is a "senior administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity" said that the military is currently monitoring threats more closely due to the "heightened alert level as the United States and Israel strike Iran."

. . . Back in the fall, several news outlet reported that both men had moved to military bases, along with Donald Trump's Homeland Security advisor, Stephen Miller. Former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also had to move to a military base. According to the Atlantic, other members of the administrative have as well.

Well we are at war with Iran, which, it cannot be stressed enough, has been at war with us for 47 years but the difference is we finally have a President who understands the threat to our national security and the peace of the world that an Islamic Iran poses.

And with the usual fifth columnist backstabbers questioning the war and demanding to know what the President's "Exit Strategy" is, the exit strategy should be, and I thought was, Total Victory with the complete defanging of the Mullahs if not their utter collapse and the ascension of a government that is minimally a peaceful nation state that will no longer foment terrorism in the name of annihilating the USA and advancing Islam across the region and the globe.

With that, the President's repudiation of the State of Israel over its attack on an Iranian oil field makes no sense at all in light of all the players involved.

“Israel, out of anger for what has taken place in the Middle East, has violently lashed out at a major facility known as South Pars Gas Field in Iran,” Trump said. “A relatively small section of the whole has been hit. The United States knew nothing about this particular attack and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen.” “Unfortunately, Iran did not know this, or any of the pertinent facts pertaining to the South Pars attack, and unjustifiably and unfairly attacked a portion of Qatar’s LNG Gas facility,” Trump added. “NO MORE ATTACK WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar – In which instance the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before.”

. . . The South Pars gas field is the world’s largest natural gas reserve and is jointly operated by Iran and Qatar.

Considering we have military bases in Qatar and they are putatively an ally, as well as the effect on world markets the crippling of this field would have, this might have something to do with Trump's response to Israel's attack. But that said, either we are in this to win it or what the hell are we doing in the first place?

While we're on the subject of existential threats to the United States of America:

Democrats’ DHS funding blockade, framed as civil liberties, instead weakens core security agencies during wartime—exposing Americans while advancing an increasingly radical agenda. . . Financed in part by malign foreign powers who seek to defeat the United States, radical left activists have co-opted the Democrat Party. Rep. Brad Schneider of Illinois, head of the supposedly centrist New Democrat Coalition, typifies the illogic. “My concern about DHS is their absolute disregard of the Constitution and American citizens’ civil rights,” he said, adding, “So until we see officers who abuse citizens’ civil rights held to full account, until we restore full congressional oversight, I’m not giving another penny to ICE and CBP.”
. . . By providing the energy, funding, and activists who increasingly guide the Democrat Party, the Marxist wing has become its base, electing avowed Socialists including Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Zohran Mamdani, Rashida Tlaib, and more than 100 other officials. A Fox News survey released last week found record 38% support for socialism, including 66% of very liberal voters. Many Democrats are defunding Homeland Security because of the current Middle East war, not despite it. In their heavily refracted perspective, Iran is a peaceful nation that, as Sen. Mark Warner, top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, claims, poses no threat to America. To the Marxist wing and growing numbers of other Democrats, Iran balances the “genocidal” or “apartheid” regime in Israel. . .

. . . Auric Goldfinger told James Bond that he didn’t want a dialogue; he wanted Bond to die. Likewise, the Marxist wing isn’t seeking compromise. It seeks to bring down American exceptionalism by replacing American history with the 1619 Project, action civics, and critical race theory. My center-left friends steadfastly want it to be true that radical leftists share common values with other Americans. They don’t.

Have a great Day!

And lastly, a quick shout-out and a huge thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

14 The Iran action is getting a little messy what with Trump chiding Israel for attacks on that South Pars gas field. Eh... war is messy. 25 As Democrats' views shift, and fewer seek college degrees, can higher education survive?

Yes, but not in the form it's currently in. It would require doing away with general education requirements or at least paring it down significantly and focusing more on specialized degree programs. And you will need to get rid of the administrative bloat.

I'm not wedded to the idea of the Interstate routes. Maybe AAA can do me up a route. The old Federal highways are often a good deal of fun to drive, but I'd have to slow down for one town after another.

I thought that route to Salina included the toll highway of I-35, though.

I'll await a rationale for the attack on the gas field. It seems an unnecessary escalation/provocation right now, when the goal should be elsewhere, IMO. Targets such as militia, rocket, missile, and drones production and operations, and leadership should be unanimously agreeable goals.

Across the world, Muslims continue to face discrimination, hostility, and even violence because of their faith. This must change.
Discrimination or hatred directed at any community because of its religion has no place in our society.
Today, marking the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, we reaffirm our commitment to dignity, tolerance, and mutual respect.
Standing up against Islamophobia is not only about defending one religious community. It is about defending our shared humanity.

This is much like fighting the 3rd Reich in the spring of 1945; they are going to fight until the last bunker with the last group of leaders in it is blown up. We cannot just kill some of them, we have to kill everyone who holds any position in the military or their government. Fortunately we can do that, but it means that this war is not yet close to ending.

143 Iran’s plan is not to fight a war. It is to stretch things out.

They believe the US will walk away if this drags on too long. So do the Russians and Chinese who are supporting Iran. It’s why they are providing targeting of oil facilities and infrastructure.

And they may be right.

Israel knows this too. Smoking the gas field was part of trying to squeeze the Iranians and create some short term pressure. It probably won’t work and it angered a lot of people who were aligned with them. I can tell you it was also a surprise to many people who matter. It was a badly calculated move.

Thankfully it looks like CiNC will stay the course. We will continue capability degradation and keep decaffeinating people. There are still a lot of Basij and other goons walking around. They are still lighting off some of their better missiles. That’s should and will be our focus.

In 2020 known state actors that actively interfered include Venezuela, Iran, China and all time champ, Russia.

I agree; it’s past time to start eliminating all
Military bases, all barracks throughout Iran. The War Dept says we have hit 6,000 specific targets so far, a huge number. But that may only be half, or less than half, of what the ultimate total will need to be before this can be over.

This is a real war now, and it’s not close to ending yet.

There may be so much aerial activity over Iran that it would take too long to develop a daily mission-by-mission Israeli and US deconfliction plan. And once created may not provide much flexibility to add targets and assign forces, in real-time. The daily joint deconfliction plan may be simply be a straight line with a buffer zone on either side. The line moves daily, as needed. My guess.

Maybe. But it's not like they hit a random missile launcher. They hit the biggest natural gas field in the world that is jointly owned by Great Satan Iran and Lesser Satan Qatar. I would think that place was discussed regularly because of the impact of any attack both financially and militarily.

Qatar has to be the most duplicitous "partner" we have and the Israelis have their own issues with them for hosting Iran's terror proxies for years. Lots of attacks against Israel were planned and run from Qatar and if you remember Israel went after some of the leaders of Hamas in Qatar and Trump gave them a wrist slap for that as well.

Seems more like plausible deniability to me.

Over two years, he transferred more than $13 million in wire transfers of $500 or more to Mexico.

He has been ordered detained pending a further court proceeding scheduled for March 23, 2026.

I do believe a war can be won with air power alone; and it’s worthwhile to reduce the attackers casualties. But doing things by air only probably *increases* the numbest of casualties that must be inflicted before the end. No one will surrender to an air campaign until the entire country surrender, there will be no prisoners. It’s an all or nothing effort.

Among well-documented peer institutions, no school has seen a steeper recent-decade decline.’ In the hearing heard around the world from 2023, I pressed Harvard’s former president Gay on this matter and it was essentially shrugged off as you can see from this testimony. I strongly believe the antisemitism does not just impact students on campus at Harvard; it shapes admissions. Worth a rewatch.”

This is actually good. It means parents and kids are actually thinking 'why send/go my kid to a school where they are going to get harassed because they 'look Jewish?' And maybe, just maybe, they'll go to a school where they won't turn into a good commie drone.

In the coming days, we may unsanction the Iranian oil that's on the water. In essence, we'd be using the Iranian barrels against the Iranians to keep the price down for the next 10 or 14 days, as we continue this campaign. So, we have lots of lever

An engineer who works for me, a citizen originally from Beirut (a Christian) owns an apartment in Beirut his mother lives in and he bought a family beach house from his parents, up north somewhere. Of course, until Hezbollah was organized by Iran, the traditional split in Lebanon was a third Christian, a third Muslim and a third Druze or other. Now a lot of Christians have fled to Europe or elsewhere, but there are still plenty there. As you know, Lebanon was always a vacation spot, a little like Dubai or Abu Dhabi is today.

So its not surprising to me he owns a place there, and also that he might be a little pissed off to see it destroyed. Blame Hezbollah buddy. Go ask them for compensation.

You are correct, but frankly this is an odd discussion.

The *goal* of war is to inflict enough pain on your enemy that they accept your terms. A strategy that involves not exposing your own people to harm that also increases the harm inflicted on your enemies is...perfect

Systematically destroy the Iranian economy while being very clear that is what you are doing and tell Iran that they can surrender at any point they want but there will be no rebuilding.

Basically, we're deliberately not opening the Strait of Hormuz.
Not because we can't but because it is maximum leverage over Europe and China--they need it but no one can guarantee the safety of the ships.
We're getting our oil domestically, from Mexico and Venezuela. If gas prices are spiking, it's in blue states.

Not only will it force the rest of the world to beg the US Navy for protection.
And not only will it make the US the de facto insurer of shipping.
But it will it force Congress to pass the appropriation for Trump's Freedom Ships.

310 Not only will it force the rest of the world to beg the US Navy for protection.
And not only will it make the US the de facto insurer of shipping.
But it will it force Congress to pass the appropriation for Trump's Freedom Ships.

312 Some 13,000 lawful noncitizens, including refugees and asylum seekers, are losing their CalFresh benefits in San Diego, according to the San Diego Food Bank.

The April 1 changes only impact a fraction of the approximately 400,000 San Diegans enrolled in CalFresh. However, on June 1, the CEO of the San Diego Food Bank, Casey Castillo, said about 100,000 people will see their work requirements change in order to keep receiving their benefits.

Some adults will have to work or volunteer 80 hours a month in order to maintain their enrollment. There are exemptions, according to the county, including for caregivers of children under the age of 14.

Basically, we're deliberately not opening the Strait of Hormuz.
Not because we can't but because it is maximum leverage over Europe and China--they need it but no one can guarantee the safety of the ships.
-----------
If we're "forced" to open Hormuz to all shipping you can bet we'll be collecting some sort of revenue from each and every ship, their home port and whomever the cargo they carry is for. The EU, China and Russia are going be price raped bigly.

342 The most amusing part of the EV racket is that it was NEVER intended to replace ICE cars one for one.

The idea is that the proles would lose their cars and only elites and government workers would have the new EVs which makes for a MUCH smaller market then the ICE one

344 To say it's not an effort to do so is a lie to yourself about the intentions of the left. And it pushes the idea that men with three or four wives, men living with teenage boys, and "non-normative," loving relationships are just like a family with the Western, Biblically-based trad home of a mom and dad.

This is the beginning of another trend to move the leftist goalposts.

Recall those spiked because on of Biden's flunkies killed millions of chickens for no real reason (in addition to Bidenflation)
