The Morning Report — 3/18/26

SMO-DEMS.jpg

Good morning kids. With a nod to Gil Scott-Heron . . .

it looks as if we almost lost Cleveland.

Residents across Northeast Ohio got a shock the morning of St. Patrick's Day. A bright fireball streaked across the sky around 9:00 a.m., visible in multiple states before a loud boom rattled homes from Cleveland into parts of Pennsylvania and New York. Windows shook, phones lit up, and, for a moment, people wondered if something far more serious had happened. The object started as a small asteroid about six feet wide, weighing close to seven tons, and entered Earth's atmosphere at more than 40,000 miles per hour. The fireball first became visible about 50 miles above Lake Erie near Lorain, traveling roughly 34 miles before breaking apart about 30 miles above Valley City in Medina County. The breakup produced the flash and the shockwave people felt on the ground. . . The energy released reached about 250 tons of TNT, which sounds large until you place it next to a historical benchmark.

The Tunguska blast in Siberia in 1908 released between 10 and 15 megatons of energy. The difference isn't small: Tunguska was tens of thousands of times more powerful and flattened more than 800 square miles of forest. . .

. . . The fireball over Ohio didn't bring destruction, but it offered a clear reminder of what moves through space every day. A slightly larger object, a lower breakup point, or a different angle could've changed the story. Cleveland heard the boom and felt the shake, then went back to their day.

That outcome wasn't guaranteed. It was luck.

Depending upon how one considers what we here at the HQ refer to as the SMOD, the Sweet Meteor of Death, the aforementioned luck was either good or bad. In any case, wow. Forget about mining asteroids, if some egghead out there wanted to make a fast buck, figure out a way to weaponize asteroids to bring them down on Red China, Iran, Russia or whoever and then con the War Dept. or Sandia to give you a few hundred million to develop a prototype. It'd be the perfect cover for a first strike on an enemy that left no evidence.

Moving on from the Science FRICTION department to other things that rub the wrong way . . .

Like the National Counterterrorism Director Joe Kent whose letter of resignation was a transparent attack on President Trump and his almost total evisceration of the globalist America last/never foreign policy of Foggy Bottom/Langley et al.

99% of the time when a local politician goes national, turns out to be a squish or a quisling, there were warnings locally. And most of the time people at the national level didn’t pay attention. I remember trying to break through the social media bubble of everyone who enjoyed Chris Christie’s viral video takedowns to get out the message that he was a fraud, that he had actually implemented every liberal policy and was an Islamic apologist. For many people it didn’t sink in until that hurricane photo with Obama. For others it didn’t sink in until he stabbed Trump in the back. . . he got the counterterrorism job as some sort of consolation prize for losing elections.

But there were warnings that Joe Kent was not what he seemed to be when he first ran for office. Ex-CIAers who run for office should be treated with extra scrutiny. And Kent scrambled to explain why he was a registered Democrat who had voted for Bernie Sanders. His explanation that he was trying to help Trump win and sabotage Dems was fishy. . .

. . . Anyone talking about an alliance between the Left and the Right, dismissing MAGA and America First, is out to take down America. This is exactly what we used to call RINOs before they got smart and started trying to disguise themselves as MAGA. But in the end, they always out themselves. Kent sure did.

Long before this happened, we should have listened to the local conservatives.

Well, there's the stabbing in the back and then there's the full frontal assault.

Susan Rice, who played leading roles in the Obama and Biden administrations, has broken a Washington code of silence by threatening that anyone who plays ball with the Trump administration will suffer payback the next time Democrats take control.

‘When it comes to the elites, you know, the corporate interests, the law firms, the universities, the media, it’s not going to end well for them.’ ” she said on a podcast.

“They’re going to be held accountable by those who come in opposition to Trump and win at the ballot box,” Rice added. She is no stranger to dirty tricks, having been involved in the Obama administration’s spying on Trump’s 2016 White House campaign. As such, her threat marks yet another example of how the left preaches one thing and practices the opposite. It blames Trump for destroying historic norms despite how the last two Dem presidents abused their power for nakedly partisan purposes.

Meh, forget the IRGC, the greater threat to America comes from the DNC. Meh, this is nothing new. We've seen this tyranny before, with every shampeachment and every single time a rogue hack-in-black issues an injunction against this President's constitutional executive branch authority. It's all well and good to root for the freedom of the Persian people and the long suffering Cubans, but unless and until the cancer of Susan Rice and her ilk are excised from our society, it won't be long before we too go the way of Iran circa 1979 and Cuba 1959.

Have a great Day!

And lastly, a quick shout-out and a huge thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

He has secured the endorsements of some of the most powerful, radical labor unions in the state, most of them from the public sector, and there is a good chance some of the remaining union power brokers—the California Teachers Association comes immediately to mind—will recognize his viability and add their weight to his union coalition. And Steyer has a campaign staff that knows what it’s doing.
==============================
Steyer is an unpleasant attention-grabbing man, an ostensible "environmentalist" who made much of his money investing in coal mining and shipment, a "man of the people" who travels with a large personal security force on private jets, and a hard-left oligarch who would be totally comfortable living and working in Beijing or Shanghai.

93 When the federal government first imposed an income tax in 1913, it was very much like a millionaire’s tax.

The law included a $3,000 personal exemption, which is equal to roughly $100,000 today. And even then, the rate was a mere 1% up to $20,000 (or $670,000 in today’s money). And the seven tax brackets topped out at 7% on incomes that in today’s dollars would exceed $17 million.

To fuck over a few rich people we took the greatest idea in taxation (apportionment to the State) and transferred the burden to the person.

I wish most of our foreign service and intelligence agents would flounce like this, or preferably more quietly, but whatever. Israel seems to be handling most of the intelligence legwork on this job, anyway.

Trump's entire foreign policy is to isolate and weaken China, who our military and foreign service leadership all work for. In the coming struggles, I expect to see many of them do far worse than this guy. Trump's fight with them isn't about Israel, but about their country - China.

===========
As of Tuesday, Ford has been deployed for 266 days. Should Ford remain deployed through mid-April, it will break the post-Vietnam War 294-day record for carrier deployments. USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) set that record in 2020. If the carrier stays out until early May, it would rival the 300-day-plus deployments that carriers conducted to the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War.

Get that? The cartel judge isn't just running the Executive, he's micromanaging the Executive.

Unelected, unaccountable cartel judge is now the head of an entire agency.

I've long said Trump needs a "Judge Roy Bean" to issue whatever order Trump wants and force the left to fight it.
Here, have him issue a nationwide injunction against this cartel judge, that he was not appointed head of the HHS and so his order violates the Appointments Clause.

233 Yep. Of course Paul informs us in 1Thess 5 that the day of the LORD comes as a thief in the night to those who are not in Christ.
(at least it shouldn't - see unbiblical eschatological doctrines)

And Malachi 4:5 gives us one of the signs we're getting close.

Remember Jesus said he does not know the time, but that the generation of the fig tree; the generation which was alive at the rebirth of Israel, will not pass from the Earth before the end times occur.

Israel was reborn two weeks after I was born in 1948 so at 78, this month, I'm one of the youngest of the Fig Tree generation. That clock is ticking.

One single gun control law would reduce gun crimes in America to levels below Europe:
Ban all gun ownership by any black male under the age of 40.

Similar to the left's solution to drunk driving: Ban alcohol and ban driving.

I'm sure I've told this story before but, apparently, several years back, some UK company was working on an expert system for analyzing x-rays. The system could tell you, with 98% accuracy, the race of the person who's x-ray it was analyzing. Radiologists said that was impossible since everyone's skeletal structure is the same. So they shut the system down.

No attempt to figure out why it was almost always correct. Must be rayciss. The refusal to see the truth, to question assumptions, will kill us all in the end.

251 On a 12-month basis, PPI inflation was at 3.4%, the most since February 2025, according to the BLS. The Federal Reserve targets inflation at 2%.

The surge in PPI came due in large part to a 0.5% increase in services costs, something the Fed would not welcome. Policymakers have attributed much of the recent run-up in inflation to tariffs, which would not show up as much on the services end. Goods prices rose 1.1% on the month.

Food prices rose 2.4% while energy was up 2.3%. Within food, the index for fresh and dry vegetables soared 48.9%

===================
Since tariffs don't apply to most food imports and the services sector is domestic, ie not a tariff economic activity, we can conclude tariffs had little to do with this number.

The people in this administration who broken the law and federal agents who broken the law need to be held accountable.

317 Iran has executed Swedish citizen, Sweden FM says

By AFP
Sweden’s foreign minister confirms that Iran has executed a Swedish citizen, after Iranian authorities announced the first execution of a man convicted of spying since the start of its war against Israel and the United States.

“It is with dismay that I have received information that a Swedish citizen was executed in Iran earlier today,” Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard says in a statement.

Since the man’s arrest during Iran’s 12-day war with Israel in June, Sweden has “repeatedly raised the case at various levels with Iranian representatives,” she adds.

---
No endorsement.
And Trump said he'll not endorse anyone who votes against the SAVE Act.

The deadline for Paxton to drop out is 5pm today. Otherwise, he remains on the ballot and the run-off must be held.

Discussed a few days ago, but we don't want the SAVE Act passed until mid to late July.*
Under SCOTUS precedent, court's can't issue injunctions against election laws if the election is pending. The TX redistricting case put that at 90 days or less.
Meaning, pass in July, courts issue their injunctions, SCOTUS will be forced to void the injunctions.

*in the alternative, pass it now and time the injunctions to late July/August. Which would be the timing of a permanent injunction after hearing if passed now.

Trump brands Dem. candidate James Talarico ‘insult to Jesus’ for pro-trans stance. Trump refused to confirm who he would endorse in the primary, but claimed the “good news” is that Talarico, “is whacked out, with his six different forms of gender”.

Is Trump really the best arbiter for what insults Jesus? "Two out of two Corinthians agree!"

James Talarico is the top example of what Christians should be and MAGA Christians don't like that.

I think they just secured Talarico the punk vote. This has far more punk energy than Beto. I wish it didn't have to risk Ken Paxton winning for James to make it.

The man, who portrayed himself as a Trump supporter from 2024 until last week, frequently shared emotional stories about personal tragedies and often asked MAGA followers for help. He has now released a video mocking MAGA supporters,
Charlie Kirk, and President Donald Trump.

I know that's probably a joke, but nope.

What we NEED is to have the next people in place to lead the republicans after Trump leaves office be as demonstrably MAGA as he is, the agenda he got voted in on. Reagan and Obama both did not set up great successors. I think Trump is giving people like JD and Rubio great on the job training to lead. But I don't know if anyone, even them, has the chutzpah Trump does to push forward on MAGA, and not give an inch to the dems.

427 Chris Christie lost me when the Pennsylvania woman with a legal carry permit got stopped for a traffic violation on a road that looped from PA to NJ and back. Doing what she thought was right, she told the officer she was carrying. Since a PA carry permit isn’t valid in NJ, she was arrested and held on two felony counts, the second being possession of hollow point bullets.

It was a vicious prosecution, and Christie could have made it go away with a wave of his hand, but he left her there in jail. I thought that was an odd decision for a Republican governor running for president.

Then there was the French kiss moment with Obama when Christie was looking for federal assistance with hurricane sandy. I’m pretty sure Obama demanded the photo op to bolster his reelection by reminding Christie how he had just let Texas burn. Those Texas wildfires could be seen from space.
