#OscarsSoWoke

Before that: Actor Jerry O'Connell said his wife and daughters became physically violent when he said that the Democrats should have had a primary rather than coronate sure-loser Kamala Harris.

He wasn't even saying he supported Trump. He was a bitter Democrat angry that the party had shot itself in the foot.

And for this, his wife and daughters began cursing him and became physical.

The Vigilant Fox 🦊
@VigilantFox

Jerry O'Connell reveals his liberal daughters were "filled with RAGE" and "became PHYSICAL" with him when he criticized Kamala Harris as a candidate.

O'CONNELL: "If I say this, will I stay married? Blow it over here."

MAHER: "Sounds like you're going to blow it over here."

O'CONNELL: "The night of the [2024] election... I was watching late at night, the returns, and I'll be honest with you, I didn't think Trump was going to win. I live in California. I didn't think he was going to win from what I was hearing."

"I said something along the lines of, like, 'There was no planning.' 'This is what they get.' 'There should have been a primary.'"

"I said something along those lines. I was just spitballing ideas as to--it was a shock, you know?"

"My wife and daughters, without saying anything, became physical with me. They were filled with rage."

"So if I am being careful with you in how I say things... I live with not one, not two, but three people who, if I made any kind of joke, they'd become very angry with me, you know?"

Once O'Connell said this, Maher saw a man who had completely lost control of his household.

He bluntly told him that living in fear of your own family's reactions is no way to live:

"I don't want to tell you how to live your life, but I couldn't live that way... I say what I truly think. And if it makes you angry, I'm sorry, we'll have to work that out."

"I am not going to tuck my tail between my legs and just shut the f*ck up."

On to the Oscars. Conan O'Brien announced the Oscars would be political, and cracked a joke about TPUSA in telling conservatives to watch "the Alternative Oscars."

Is that really a joke that Hollywood clowns should be making?

So much woke.

Jane Fonda talking to the ultragay "reporter" who asks nothing but political questions and about how gay movies are.

It's worth remembering that the Oscars are literally the DEI Oscars, as any film nominated for an award must satisfy a laundry list of DEI requirements.

I stand with Ricky Gervais.

85 It started with The Deer Hunter, the advent of the Oscar campaign,

As you said in your final video, its not that the winners were bad movies (well most of them) but that they weren't the BEST movie that year and didn't win for being the most entertaining, beloved, and memorable.

Deer Hunter is well done, but its not like people would line up to see it re-released or go out of their way to buy a DVD copy. Nobody stops channel surfing to watch it.

86 I’d like someone to ask a “celebrity,”

You play make believe for a living. Make believe and dress up. You say what you’re told to say, stand where you’re to to stand, cry, laugh and scream on command.

Are you capable of an original thought? And if you are, why do you think anyone cares?

You play make believe for a living.

That's not a distinction I made.

I don't know what other people treasure, what the masses are looking up again after years of being released.

I just know that the Academy has never been about that. Ever. From the beginning, it was about controlling the direction of the industry.

And it made sense when that direction was actually aligned with making money. Now...control of the Oscars is control of...the Oscars. The studios spend much more money on slop for the masses that they don't think will ever win awards. Because the industry has essentially bifurcated in that regard.

1) The oscars suck and who gives a crap who wins?

Eh.

Sinners is massively derivative. It'll be as effervescent as Black Panther.

It's more a problem with our fractured, balkanized culture that individual movies don't have that cultural cache anymore.

You need to be in the zeitgeist for longer. A few weeks is an instant, half a news cycle, forgotten by a flush of new memes and things that we must all pay attention to.

Television series are probably the only thing that can have that cache anymore because they last for so long and come back year after year.

She also doesn't have that Winona Ryder quality, who also looked like a 16 year old girl but Hollywood was able to make pictures that played to her strengths.

It is better to lead by example and you can bring stable logic and sense into the relationship rather than trying to reason someone out of a position that they never used reason to get there.

The predominant leftist (and Muzzie) emotion is ANGER, and that makes anyone challenging that anger doomed to failure at that moment.

You have to wear it away by erosion over time--that requires holding frame and not descending into nor feeding their anger.

The rise and fall of the trans movement is an example of emotion driven policy championed by AWFULs that is now becoming a sad clown show spiraling toward oblivion.

The DEI quota thing for Best Picture noms is frickin' hilarious. Especially since the Academy ignores the DEI requirement at the drop of a hat, when the politics and star power is lined up correctly.

Oppenheimer is the perfect example. Pasty white cast playing pasty white characters, directed/shot/edited by pasty white filmmakers, NOTHING DEI about the film at all.

The 90s were Hollywood becoming "fake indie" before they let the indies completely take over.

If they had installed people dedicated to its destruction, the Academy couldn't have done it any better.

They rejected popularity except in certain specific cases starting in the 80s. The case study I use is Ghostbusters. Every loved it. Made a shit ton of money. Perfect for the Oscars.

But...it was the wrong kind of movie.

The book end was The Dark Knight 23 years later. Again, the wrong kind of movie was liked and had made money. The Academy couldn't allow that.

Yep. Once you dehumanize someone as evil, then you can attack any attribute that 'evil' person has and get others to join in. Root of tribalism and social herd psychology to punish the heretic, outsider, etc. And sometimes that provokes a bad response by the object of hatred depending on their internal frame. Tell someone they are evil all the time and the worst person in the world, some come to believe it.

If she was indeed blonde my vote goes to Margot Robbie for the part.

I don't... understand why people like her so much.

What does it matter to you except
To be judgy and scoldy. Maybe it belonged to a dead family member and she likes to wear it because of that. Maybe she is a Christian woman.

No need to judge. Jesus loves us all.

405 Slumdog Millionaire was not Bollywood! The director was English -the main male actor was English. It was an English film set in India.

Anya Taylor-Joy's eyes are set so far apart that it's possible to infer alien lineage.

I always struggled with Ursula's books; sentence structure and run-on Roget's syndrome paragraphs along with pointless asides made them slow reads.

Somebody needs to update Mickey Spillane for modern audiences.

Because I like to hear about the faith of Christian and you were being judgey and scoldey
assuming I had a negative view for wanting to know. Instead of a genuine interest in sister in Christ. Byeeeee

410 Anya Taylor-Joy is hawt. That is all.

Maybe but you instantly knew she was one of the Innsmouth Look girls

Big eyes, small chin = high estrogen = fecund. I bet that she is almost painfully attractive if you get within her pheromone cloud.

Good point but once the mighty Wurlitizer of propaganda strikes up the tune, those mired in misery, hatred, and anger will dance to it. Words mean nothing to them which is why many of them are miserable to live around.

413 374 Ben Shapiro's catchphrase "facts don't care about your feelings" is absolutely correct, but it's also absolutely the wrong thing to say to people who've been indoctrinated.

Show a lefty LIV the data behind their beliefs is wrong will just get you called racist, fascist, homophobe whatever.

You need to build a compelling emotional argument back.

I don't think that even works in the short run, spent decades in academia with a countless examples where it doesn't. You have to erode over time and in most cases, the relationships just don't last long enough to reach a lot of folks mired in their own personal leftist hell.

there is a Fantasy series that is very Mickey Spillane-ish about a hard boiled detective in a world with elves, goblins, vampires and so on. His name is Garrett PI. Pretty good for the first 10 or so.
