Top Story

Two more long-lost Doctor Who episodes have been rediscovered decades after they first aired. (BBC)

The two episodes are from the sprawling 12-episode story The Dalek Master Plan that aired in Britain in 1965 - and never aired anywhere else because Australian censors deemed it too violent and that made it unprofitable to resell in smaller markets.

And then the BBC, in the long tradition of knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing, wiped the tapes to reuse them, deeming the tapes themselves more valuable than their contents.

Which left little hope because most of the episodes rediscovered over the years have been from the archives of channels elsewhere in the world that "accidentally" held on to copies for decades after their rights expired.

These two episodes were left to a film archiving foundation as part of a "ramshackle" private collection.

In a nice touch, one of the actors who appeared as the Doctor's companion in the story - Peter Purves, now 87 - was invited to the screening, but only told that it was for an interview. To be fair, they did interview him afterwards.
Yes, it's a quiet news day.

Some of New Who is actually very good, but the BBC killed it again - first with terrible scripts starting in 2018 with Jodie Whittaker's tenure, and then more recently by not having anyone prepared to take the role thanks to years of terrible scripts.

My enjoyment of Dr Who dwindled during the Peter Davison years because, to me, he was simply unlikable. And viewing got hit-and-miss as a result. Might say I fell out of the habit of watching and it never came back.

Thanks to miniaturization of cameras and microphones, 'smart' glasses have the capability to record and transmit sound and images to earpieces and image projectors in what look like typical eyeglasses. They may also receive and transmit sound and video through the use of wifi.

I'm thinking it needs to have a reasonably high frame rate and good focal capabilities to see the pencil lines on the paper.

I just have no idea where to start looking for a more trustworthy and accurate description than Amazon provides

40 The FAA temporarily stopped traffic at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) and Richmond International Airport (RIC) because of a strong chemical smell at the Potomac TRACON that is impacting some air traffic controllers. Ground stop occurred from about 1630 to 1930 (Friday) and was traced to a burned circuit board.
Kind of worrisome that a minor incident could cause such an impact.

1Thess 5:1-4 clears that up. Who are "they?" Those not in Christ, of course. The brethren are not in darkness. Why not?
Because Paul had taught them things that will occur before that day. Which of course they forgot.

What signs? See 2Thess 2:1-5. I sense a bit of frustration in verse 5.

One of the best scenes in the Get Back doc, was watching Paul literally summoning the song Get Back from the ether.

Or pretty much any scene when some Beatles are kibitzing and in the background you can here one of the other Beatles noodling on something that would eventually become a masterpiece.

55 One of my favorite Beatles recordings is their cover of Chuck Berry's Rock and Roll music. On October 18th, 1964 in a session that lasted over 9 hours and included the recording of Eight Days a Week. They recorded Rock and Roll music sometime around 11:00 p.m. Legend has it that McCartney was on piano, Harrison was on the Hofner bass, and Lennon supplied the Rickenbacker 325 guitar and scorching vocal. The track was done live in one take and is a prime example of how great a band they were live.

By the time our Mom passed, coming up on four years ago in May, any thought of interring her cremated ashes is a custom built and weighted cedar box, taking it out on a boat on Lake Superior and dropping it overboard at the location where we had done the same for Dad twenty-five years earlier was out of the question, as whoever had assisted us in the on water part was no longer in the area.

So we four kids and our spouses placed her ashes in the midst of the natural area that constituted her view from her kitchen window and her back patio.

There must have been 60 people there For the funeral for our Korean War vet and patriarch who lived his whole life in the town there was not an empty seat in the church. I think this was a credit to the type of people they were.

Images obtained by CBS News Texas show King standing close to Crockett at events and on the campaign trail during her recent run for a U.S. Senate seat. Sources say he oversaw teams of security officers at several downtown Dallas hotels and at his church.

Law enforcement sources also say King drove a replica undercover police vehicle and used license plates stolen from cars outside a military recruiting office. His background – which sources say includes a criminal history – raises questions about how he managed extra‑duty jobs for police officers and secured a high‑level security role for a sitting member of Congress.

Documents obtained by CBS News Texas show a person named Mike King received payments for "security services" from Crockett as recently as last year.
