My best friend's step-father lost an arm to a piece of machinery on his farm.
We found him crawling up the road to the house, with a tourniquet on. Got him to the hospital and he survived.

Every year, for Christmas, my family would bake him a batch of one armed Gingerbread Men.

Occasionally, he'd call my dad and tell him he was stuck in the middle of the lake in his rowboat and he needed us to come over and get him.

You gotta laugh about these things as best you can.

I never shed a tear about this in front of him as it would have destroyed him. I was days after turning 16yrs old and always his only girl.

One, Jalloh was Guard, not Regular Army and the Guard does not generally spend a whole lotta time on marksmanship, especially if the unit is not infantry. Second, most people in prison are criminals, not jihadis. Criminals are cowardly sneaks that don't mind hurting others but don't like being hurt themselves. Surveys show their greatest fear is running into an armed civilian even over police, and three, my guess is his cunning plan was to go somewhere that he thought was gun free and unload his weapon. Shades of Baldrick there.

I've read too many after action reports that you cannot rely on police to save you with a spree killer. They are minutes away and you have seconds to act. But, spree killers that were immediately challenged killed and hurt far fewer people than the hunker down and cover.

Plus courage is contagious. One student wrestler, in Oregon, stopped a school shooter by charging him and following what his dad told him about semi auto pistols. They are easy to jam by grabbing the slide, you might get shot once but the gun will jam without a second shot. The hero got shot but lived and saved quite a few lives as he then after being shot prevented the cowardly spree killer from rearming.

Well all the soldiers were unarmed. I think I recall a cop shot Hasan at the clinic or hosptial he attacked, and it was a crippling shot that probably stopped the threat. So I suppose the PoPo training kicked in, the threat was neutralized so stop firing at him.

Of course with Barky in charge Hasan was not going to get a quick conviction and death sentence. I suppose he was sentenced to life, my super quick web search didn't show that, just that he's supposedly a case study for lone wolf attacks. I've believed the same thing for a long time. Democrats have closed primaries. Republican states tend to have open primaries. Republicans are always oddly willing to allow Democrats to manipulate the vote.

If you're a Democrat living in Dallas, you have no worries about voting for John Cornyn. You know without doubt that he is going to sell out the conservative cause every single time. He probably communicates Republican strategies with his Democrat masters. I would assume the same of Thune, McConnell, Murkowsky, Collins, Lankford, etc. They are inside our tent, working for our enemies.

Problem with that is he had no serious primary challenger back in 2014. matt bevin ran against him but was losing by nearly 40 points in almost every poll. mcconnel went on to win the primary by 25+ points. All of the good republican candidates (andy barr, a favorite) refused to enter the primary against him.

Elijah Muhammad's own son Warith Deen Mohammad renounced the NoI's nuttery and converted himself and his org to Sunni Islam, renaming the NoI to "World Community of Islam". That's why Louis Farrakhan broke with the group and refounded the NoI in 1977 as the funny farm it remains today.
Wiki says that Warith's group is now "The Mosque Cares". It's got its own problems, because Warith was a polygamist (shari'a-compliant!!) so a number of half-brothers now could claim it.

After action reports derived. Spree killers rack up kills if not confronted (even unsuccessfully). The old training standard was designed for hostage situations but not killers that did not care to live or actively wanted suicide by cop.

Same as how 9/11 happened. People had it ingrained that the plane hijackers were interested in whatever else other than killing all of the passengers and crew and that playing it cool will let the hostages live another day.

Spree killers just want to hurt and kill people, there is no demand that one can satisfy from killers except by letting them kill you. Which is an unsatisfactory situation.

For too many of GOP politicians, they were educated by left of center teachers up to and including college, they despise their unwoke constituents somehow thinking that their credentials make them better than their voters, and too often their pursuit of generational wealth for them and theirs outweigh honest representation to their voters. Our ruling class is leftist and even those that have tendencies on the right often fall prey to wanting money, power, and acceptance from donors, not voters.

Same problem with the ruling class across the West with the possible exception of Japan.
