He is believed to own 11 properties on The Bishops Avenue - an exclusive street in Hampstead, north London, also known as 'Billionaires' Row' and two luxury apartments overlooking the Israeli embassy in London. The sixth and seventh floor apartments near the Israeli embassy, which come with servants' quarters on the ground floor, are a stone's throw from Kensington Palace, the official residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales. ... As for the funding of this substantial portfolio, Mojtaba is believed to have siphoned off profit from Iranian oil sales, before funnelling it through his opaque network to evade international sanctions aimed at curbing Tehran's military and political operations.

New federal tax filings reveal the staggering salaries flowing through the Obama Foundation as construction of the $850 million Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park nears completion. The foundation will operate the massive 19.3-acre campus, which sits on publicly owned Chicago parkland. The project includes a museum, an athletic center, and a public library branch. It will not operate as a traditional presidential library overseen by the National Archives. The land it sits on is a big part of the scheme. The Obama Foundation secured a 99-year agreement with the city, under which the foundation pays just $10 per year to use the plot. That deal alone costs Chicago tens of millions of dollars in potential value while handing over prime public property to a private nonprofit run by a former president. With such a sweet deal in place, the foundation has been able to pay its officers inflated salaries, the most eye‑popping of which is paid to Valerie Jarrett, one of Obama's closest political confidantes. Jarrett "earned" $740,000 in 2024 as CEO of the Obama Foundation. That salary easily outpaces the compensation paid to leaders at several other presidential foundations.
Six of the foundation's 10 highest-paid executives previously held senior roles in the Obama administration or campaign. David Simas, Obama's former White House political director, earned up to $626,000 annually while leading the foundation from 2017 through 2020. Adewale Adeyemo, another senior Obama official who later became deputy Treasury secretary under Joe Biden, earned about $540,000 as the foundation's first president.

I've been saying over the last few weeks that the EU is neck deep in Iran's ability to have continued to exist in their Theocratic Authoritarianistic state. And, now they are in a bit of a pickle. Do they support the US efforts in the hopes that the US shows leniency in their complicity and ignoring of sanctions (or support for protestors)....or do they hope against all hope that a conclusion can occur that doesn't include Iran's confidential documents and financial records becoming public knowledge. Because, I suspect their is a virtual army of MP's and bureaucrats receiving payments either directly or indirectly from Iran (which ties into the Islamiphication of the EU and the UK).

The oil well fires in Iraq were put out in something like 2 weeks back then. GE or some German company could probably drop in a few dozen gas plants within a month or two. I don't think getting a base level of physical plants would be much of a challenge. The problem would be the ROE of troops standing by. We're going to need to have high speed, low drag guys unloosed to do it.

I think he had potential at one time when he was young. His mind just got stuffed full of nonsense that he thought was truth. As he got older, as all of us do, his confirmation bias failed to recognize the things that didn't fit his schema and exaggerated the things that did. As a result, a reasonably bright young person wound up living in an alternative world where he was rewarded for being able to articulate things as he saw them. He just didn't bother to acknowledge reality and was able to prosper as an educated ignoramus.

My fear, that no one has brought up, is that the IRGC has plans to pulls a Saddam leaving Kuwait strategy of blowing everything up as they lose. But that was just wells blown up. If distribution points are destroyed, they require a lot of long-lead items like valves and pumps. All of it probably out of China. Venezuela and Iran would have been deal killers for the defense of Taiwan. If they started trouble in parallel, our carriers would have to go to the gulfs (persian and american) to protect shipping there instead of the Pacific.
China had a strategy of having enough worldwide allies that the US military would be spread too thin. Again, this is why I think Trump is being very strategic and focusing on China, by countering their plans.

But that was just wells blown up. If distribution points are destroyed, they require a lot of long-lead items like valves and pumps. All of it probably out of China. I guess that would be another battle with Chinese companies trying to control the economy from the inside using a belt and road strategy of owning the stuff they build.

This is probably going to happen since the various regional arms have little coordination.

The IRGC can run the country as a military dictatorship, but they can't do it legitimately without the supreme leader, only through force.

To the broad mass of Iranians, the mullahs were already illegitimate and their rule was by force, through the IRGC. That hasn't changed. It's good propaganda to kill these guys, of course, but austere religious scholars aren't particularly needed when the lead is flying.
They can just say "the dead bastard is totally alive, trust us," and it doesn't really change the balance of terror.

And for the record, I was one of those who thought the USA should have owned those wells as well as Kuwait after we took it back from Saddam. Paid the Kuwaitis them a commission and put them on a reservation.

This is probably going to happen since the various regional arms have little coordination.
Who knows, though. They may be unified by doctrine.

What you are missing is that there are always internal fissures within dictatorships. If power goes to the strongest, there is nothing binding subordinates. Think Roman Empire politics.
Having legitimacy curbs this tendency, but what you put a specific puppet in charge to be a puppet, then what matters is who pulls the strings and all bets are off.

I used to live a block from the Iranian embassy on Kightsbridge in London. I heard the automatic fire and felt the flash-bang grenades when the SAS took the embassy. I ran outside and witnessed part of it. The doorman and I were giggling like schoolgirls.
