Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Filthy Despicable RINO Coward John Cornyn: On Second Thought, Now that GOP Voters Are Set to Boot My Defeat-Mechanism Ass Out of My Cushy Job, Maybe We Don't Need the Filibuster After AllAll it took to make this filthy RINO represent his constituents was a multimillion dollar effort to boot him out of office. As you know, the disgraceful cucks in the Senate desperately want their cuck ally John Cornyn to keep his seat. They are pressuring Trump to endorse Cornyn. Cornyn's primary challenger Ken Paxton says he will not leave the race, even if Trump does bend to John Thune and endorse the cuck John Cornyn. However, he has offered a deal: He will leave the race and let Cornyn accept his last coronation if and only if the SAVE Act is passed before the primary runoff. Not scheduled for a vote -- passed and put on the president's desk for his signature. And suddenly this liberal dirtbag says he finally understands that Nostalgia RINOism won't stop the Democrats from undoing the filibuster themselves the next chance they get. Something we've been saying for a decade. He also realizes that it's time to end the Democrat filibuster on funding DHS unilaterally: Hello! Happy Humpday! I had to turn on air conditioning last night. Winter just ended, and now I need air conditioning to keep the house from boiling. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

I wonder whether the hysteria over the delays is being amplified by our oh-so-unbiased media... Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo at March 11, 2026 12:11 PM (n9ltV) It's not. There are sickouts at certain airports. And there are agents quitting in certain areas (300 since the shutdown), and they are probably doing that in groups. And with no hiring authority and sickouts, this gets bad in those airports quickly. It's bad. But it's more bad in places where folks have other work options or stronger group dynamics to make a point. Posted by: Nova Local at March 11, 2026 12:15 PM (tOcjL) 21

The State of Washington passed a 10% income tax yesterday on incomes over a million dollars, and purely coincidentally Howard Schultz, the founder of Starbucks, also announced yesterday that he was retiring to Miami.
It wasn't a long term political equilibrium - Washington was the only blue state without an income tax, which made Seattle very, very rich, but it was obvious that at some point the looters in power would be unable to restrain themselves and kill the golden goose. Technically, income taxes are illegal in the State of Washington, but who do you think appointed the Washington supreme court? The legislation was passed so that the legislature can reduce the million-dollar threshold at any time. Posted by: The ARC of History! at March 11, 2026 12:23 PM (n1OCj) 64

I think the airport/airline delays depend on where the airport is located. If it's in a blue shithole... delays. If not, the delays (if any) are short. And it's not that the flights are impacted (they are, sort of) but the time it takes to get through security can be.... prolonged.
Flight tracking websites don't typically reflect TSA wait times. Thus, the US looks pretty good, even with the stormy weather. I've had a theory for some time that federalism is going to save us from going over the fiscal cliff. It is inevitable at the federal level that some programs are going to have to be cut. The easiest way to do it is to devolve to the states (maybe with declining block grants) the programs that are already being administered by the states: housing, Medicaid, SNAP, etc. Red states will cut benefits and blue states won't. People and businesses will vote with their feet, the red states will grow members of Congress and electoral votes, and the blue states will decline or change. The federal government (and the government sector overall) will be a smaller slice of the economy and less important in people's lives. It's already happening. What they mean by that, any given opinion, no matter how crazy, is equally valid as the Pythagorean Theorem or whatever. it’s “moral relativism” and Critical Theory on bath salts. Cats are among the largest animals known to survive falls from extreme heights, including those reaching terminal velocity. A 1987 study of 132 cats that fell from high-rise buildings found a 90% survival rate, with cats falling from higher floors (e.g., 7+ stories) often sustaining fewer injuries than those from lower floors—likely because they reach terminal velocity and can reorient themselves mid-fall to land more safely. You may now continue.

@seanmdav [1 of 2] Understand what Thune is doing right now. It’s not enough for him to kill the SAVE America Act. Thune has to kill it while also protecting his worst RINO colleagues from being exposed for opposing it. How does Thune accomplish his? By avoiding a simple majority vote at all costs. Thune knows a public vote where Republicans get less than 50 votes—with people like Tillis and Curtis and McConnell and Murkowski voting against IT—is electoral poison. He doesn’t want it to pass, but he also can’t have it die at the hands of his own puke colleagues. So how does Thune do this? By refusing to move to the already-passed House bill (this only requires a simple majority because the House message is privileged) and instead moving to a new, standalone Senate bill. @seanmdav [2 of 2] Thune needs to kill the SAVE America Act, not expose any of his GOP colleagues as being against it, and be able to pretend that he tried. This is the actual Senate GOP trifecta—doing nothing while pretending they tried everything and protecting the worst of the worst the whole time. So when you watch the GOP Senate bring up a brand new SAVE America Act bill and hold a single vote on a motion that needs 60 to pass, know that they’re doing it because they think you’re stupid. 132 There literally is no Senate rule regarding so-called filibusters, it's a fiction put forth by both parties and enforced by the capo de tutti, The Senate Parliamentarian.
It's literally just a agreement between the two parties nothing more. Posted by: Thomas Bender ======= Not true. The Senate has always operated under an unlimited debate presumption and yes, that is in the rules. Unanimous consent, cloture, reconciliation, and the talking filibuster are all the special exceptions to unlimited debate that allow the Senate to function at all. House has no unlimited debate per se other than the right of the minority leader to speak as long as they want without yielding the floor just before a vote for final passage. Otherwise, the House Rules committee sets the debate times and amendment rules. Temu Obama Hakeem holds the current record for that. Posted by: whig at March 11, 2026 12:56 PM (E4rtv) 230
I'm skeptical the SAVE Act will pass, in any event. More than anything else, Republicans are loyal to The Hive, and The Hive can't countenance it. It's ride-or-die time for the Uniparty, and I expect enough Republicans are willing to fall on their swords over this. It will only end their political careers, and their "wounds" will spout gouts of donor cash into their bank accounts.
But if it does pass - now us the time for Trump to defy the Courts, who will inevitably enjoin it to save the midterms. One thing I find baffling, some people reserve the ire ordinarily held for Mice and Rats, (justifiably) to Chipmunks. Maybe if I had a Garden I would think differently.
They claim they “undermine foundations” by their burrowing, which I find implausible. If anything, it should improve drainage. They don’t try to get in my house, or eat wiring, and all those things that cause Mice to to be persona non grata since time immemorial. Plus, they have that cool racing stripe thing going on. I didn’t know they eat Juniper berries. They were climbing them to the top, and looked like they were picking Apples. Cutest thing ever. I freely admit my anthropomorphic biases. TJM, I looked it up, from wiki,
In 2014, Brat challenged House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a Republican primary. Brat's campaign was notable for its lack of resources and traditional campaign tactics. Brat was outspent by Cantor 40 to 1; Cantor spent over $5 million, while Brat raised $200,000 and did not spend all of it. The race was outside the time period I did the analysis on and that was focused on general election success, not primaries. I also did some early work on candidate efficiency in that some candidates could turn money into votes more efficiently than other candidates but that only got as far as a conference paper investigating factors affecting primary and general election vote share. The naive assumption is that the voters decide who wins elections.
Posted by: The Central Scrutinizer ======= Depends on the number of candidates and depending on voting rules. Ranked choice voting, for example, runoffs, open primaries, etc. That is why one of the classic GOPe moves is the splitter strategy to prevent a gen election winner, thus Hunt, a no hoper for winning, got in at the behest of someone in the GOPe establishment of TX. Let Cornyn survive until a runoff. RCV is a notorious mess where the candidate coming in 3 or 4 can suddenly become no. 1 when 2,3,4 votes are tallied and so on. And lastly, voters don't get to pick the candidates offered, the candidates do. Voters are then always faced with the dilemma of the lesser of evils voting approach as no candidate can support everything that a particular voter wants. So at best, it is a constrained choice. Those are not naive assumptions. Mayhew's was--simply put, looking at elected official's behavior, what would be the single biggest factor in explaining their behavior in office. And yes, it is running for reelection (barring a few beautiful losers or those that are retiring). Posted by: whig at March 11, 2026 01:19 PM (E4rtv) 351

Posted by: Chuck Martel === The Senate did not work that way before the 17th. And in fact, very few state legislatures selected senators by legislative election by that time. Most used plebiscites disguised as elections and simply nominated the winner. The classic period of the US Senate was viewed as the tail end of the Jackson presidency 1834 to about the early 1850's. And that Senate promptly squandered its reputation with the Compromise of 1850 that did in the Whigs and the Kansas-Nebraska Act finished it. After the Civil War, those state legislative elections of senators produced such putrid politicians that Mark Twain wrote the Gilded Age to mock them. And a common misconception of the Senate is that states after voting for a senator could recall them. Nope. Posted by: whig at March 11, 2026 01:24 PM (E4rtv) 370

Posted by: SSBN 656 (G) at March 11, 2026 01:26 PM (dmDsy) I really, really hate Rick and Morty. I do not vibe with its nihilism or its origin as a Back to the Future gay pedo porn joke. Posted by: Mark Andrew Edwards, buy ammo at March 11, 2026 01:27 PM (xcxpd) Alright, gotcha! I can see exactly what you are saying. This is why it's so cool to talk to people. I feel the exact opposite as you, I love the cringy, edgy humor of that show, and you feel the opposite. Life is fucking great! Posted by: SSBN 656 (G) at March 11, 2026 01:31 PM (dmDsy) 385
You sick f*cks forced Owebama upon the nation. A man who was smoking some whack drug and having sex with fat white homo men. Then, you followed him up with Joe Biden who's character is so flawed, he would swim naked in front of his female SS and fingerbanged an intern in a federal building.
You can all GFY. Posted by: Sponge - F*ck Cancer Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at March 11, 2026 01:31 PM (N15rr) 386
"You kill people and break things for a living,” he told the gathered generals, as they sat in baffled silence. Real men and soldiers strive to keep those two things from happening. Hegseth is a child."
These Redditt posts are always crazy, but when I start to read them I usually have a very general feel for what is likely to be there. This group of posts goes so far beyond delusion... I have no words to describe... Posted by: RM at March 11, 2026 01:32 PM (n/1Oj) 387

"Thune needs to kill the SAVE America Act, not expose any of his GOP colleagues as being against it, and be able to pretend that he tried. This is the actual Senate GOP trifecta—doing nothing while pretending they tried everything and protecting the worst of the worst the whole time." This has always been the purpose of the filibuster. To protect Senators from having to vote according to the wishes of their constituents. "I tried, but we just couldn't overcome the dang filibuster! Send more money so we can continue to fight the [other party]!" Posted by: Tar Bae at March 11, 2026 01:37 PM (HpQep) 391
People need to know betrayal is always a possibility with pols. ...
Posted by: whig at March 11, 2026 01:04 PM (E4rtv) --- Putin said that he will tolerate most anything from a person except betrayal. Trump, Thune and Tillis should have a meeting at the Watergate, 5th floor.
