Authorities have not identified a motive, though the incident comes amid the ongoing U.S. war against Iran and President Donald Trump's mass deportation efforts, both of which have seen violent opposition within the U.S.

It's so weird that non-LE people can immediately identify a motive whereas LE "professionals" and "experts" are perpetually confused.

Police in Toronto, Canada, on Tuesday announced that gunmen had fired on the U.S. consulate, resulting in no injuries.
The suspects reportedly drove a white Honda CR-V, stopped in front of the building, and fired multiple rounds, before returning to the vehicle and fleeing the scene. None were injured in the incident.
Authorities have not identified a motive, though the incident comes amid the ongoing U.S. war against Iran and President Donald Trump's mass deportation efforts, both of which have seen violent opposition within the U.S.
On Monday, for instance, a counter protester went viral after he threw an explosive device at a protest organized by Jan. 6 rioter Jake Lang, though it failed to detonate. Authorities are investigating a possible terrorist connection.

Although Canadian officials could not possibly name the motive we all instantly understood, they are increasing security at US and Israeli diplomatic buildings.

Just a coincidence, I'm sure. Done out of an "abundance of caution."

Same general culture, same shared British roots, same sports played, same cars driven, etc. there were a few slight differences. Canada spells color with a U and they have the queen on their money. Things like that. But overall if you plucked an American out of St Louis and put them in Toronto they’d barely notice they were in another country.

The comment I responded to was that they were denied asylum. They were not denied. The ones that went back did so for whatever reasons. Doesn't matter for purposes of asylum. They could have gotten asylum if they wanted to. Aus can't force them to stay.
