Just three basic rules to remember to work out the cousin thing:
1. First/second/third cousin is how many generations back you have to go to find a common ancestor with someone of your own generation. 2. Once/twice removed for younger generations is how many generations decended they are from your cousins. 3. Cousins are reciprocal. If you're in a younger generation and someone's first cousin twice removed (i.e., the grandchild of their first cousin), then they are also *your* first cousin twice removed. One thing I am amused by, it is originally in German, and the version I have is dubbed. I turned the subtitles on and the two differ significantly in the words they choose. And sometimes one is better then the other but...consistently they still express the same thoughts. German is about the closest language to English, so it is interesting at just how much freedom you have to express a thought differently even in a sister langauge. My brothers and husband said his Marine training came out with his herd, altho he never cussed around me or ladies. I love moo cows! They are nitwits but I love them! The first morning in our new house he had built my mother got out of the shower to a crowd of them peering in the bathroom window from the front porch. Love the almost made it off the ground helicopter. I was waiting for some decapitation action. Lesbians should not own guns or cats. The baby projection from all orifices. Our first night home with #1 son my mother was told we had this and to go to bed. She heard my husband yell from the diningroom/temporary nursery:"He's peed in his ear! What do I do now!" Baby boys I can at least predict from their warning device. Baby girls I cannot and both grandgirlies have peed on their changing table. This one now and then harfs, too, but she's really cute and smart and smiles a lot when not doing all of that. She discovered my husband's unshaved cheek a week ago and perfers it to clean shaven. FYI:
Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in the body and is crucial for maintaining iron levels. Ferritin levels are often assessed through blood tests to determine iron storage; low levels indicate iron deficiency, which can lead to anemia. 2 High ferritin levels may suggest iron overload or inflammation, as ferritin can be mobilized during acute inflammatory reactions. 2 A ferritin test can provide insights into various health conditions, making it an important diagnostic tool. Later I discovered that nearly everything in Australia will kill you and was thankful. Florida was bad enough. I hate snakes. Once when the boys were small they went on a little tour of a botanical garden with others and thought we'd be thrilled. It is the only time in my life I hyperventilated. A thick jungle with little puddles next to the creek. Visions of snakes and gators. I was making such loud wheezing sounds that when we popped out at the end a man was taking water samples from a bridge and stared at us. We came to a narrow portion of the creek that I could easily jump but I stepped right in it running instead as I was looney tunes at that point. My husband said he did not recognize me. The thing about the DNA test in genealogy is that its results are out there for all and sundry to see (as it were), and you potentially could be peppered with requests to talk / meet with folks who may mean well, but will take up a lot of your time. By records' based, I meant their paper trail -- censuses, states' records of births, baptisms, confirmations, marriages, deaths and burials, and so forth. I am over one half Norwegian and believe me, those folks recorded everything. Then they moved into or through Minnesota one hundred years or more ago, and those folks recorded everything. Has anyone heard about a new show from Canada? It's called Doctor Death Race, and consists of 8-12 "doctors" in hardened vehicles. They drive from Vancouver to Halifax. The winner is the driver with the lowest time, adjusted by the number and caliber of MAID patients they kill with their vehicle.

Posted by: Crusader at March 07, 2026 12:08 AM (Cjcf6) I want all snakes dead. We had a 5' black snake who lived in the hedge in front of our house along the walk every summer. I had to check the mail going out the garage. My husband claimed they ate rats but this one did not get the memo as we had a rat in our attic once. He/she once got in the garage with me and I was very brave and screamed (do they have ears?) and threw a broom at it and it left. If it got in the house we'd have to move or burn it down. 235 Have an XD9, no external safety. Has the grip safety, like a 1911. Chose it over the Glock entirely because of a better fit. It's got the same reliability as the Glocks. Not sure how many rounds through it by now (10K+ for sure), never a problem. The little roll pin that serves as the slide stop eventually broke, free and easy to replace myself. Only other incident in all these years was a mysterious stuck round part way into the chamber (re-sizing issue). Some idiot who reloaded the round was responsible.
Oh. Wait. Posted by: rhomboid at March 07, 2026 12:05 AM (U/Byj) The XD9 is one of my ATF's and my EDC currently (that does change). We fought our way through 40 minutes of heavy snowbird seasonal traffic, 15 miles, 32 lights, four needed two cycles to get through, this is SW FL in March, to go to Costco, mid day, we knew it was torture, but wanted something they rarely have but had, not wanting to miss it.
The parking lot was full, we crept around looking for a car backing out, found one out near the rear outer limit. Inside was a total jam, everybody old and gray like us, the checkout area packed. Carts piled high. We ended up behind a couple, no cart, carrying a bag of dried prunes. Who would put up with that for a bag of prunes. But that was not all. Passing the cart pack parked at the eating tables on way out, there sat a cart, one box in it, a box of womens' Depends. Torture for Depends, torture for prunes. OR NOT? Are you referring to the two movies he did that starred Robert Downy, Jr. and Jude Law as Holmes and Watson? They both were entertaining in their own right, although the second one ("Game of Shadows") had far more foitprints from Doyle's stories in it than had the first. I enjoyed the interplay between the two lead characters. They needed not be Holmes snd Watson, as you said. An original story free of Doyle in all respects would have served equally well. Under those circumstances, if I attempt to click on the "Comments" link nothing happens when that link is at the same level as, or below the floating check box. An odd thing I realized tonight; of course I follow the current war carefully. But when looking around the net for stories of today’s events, it struck how little actual reporting is being done on this war, and also how much of what you can find is ridiculous, made up stuff that can be debunked with 10 seconds of checking.
I get that part if the problem is that it’s an air war, do information is tightly controlled. But I also get the feeling that because it’s going so well, better than even the most optimistic predicted, the media is trying to say as little about it as possible. My mother got into genealogy back in the '80's. Computer programs and emails when we were learning. She now (age 95) routinely picks fights if someone is wrong on family trees. It gives her something to do we figure.
She once hired a French guy to trace one branch and he and a friend came to the USA and stopped by the farm for dinner. My father was worried he was a serial killer (where I get it from), but it was ok. She'd met him in Normandy. She found out my father's grandfather was a bigamist who had another family in LA. My great-grandmother threw all his clothes and stuff out into the front yard when she found a love letter from a woman in his jacket. They never divorced as it was 1913 and people then thought she was a widow. Imagine the surprise of the family in LA when mother told the mother that they were perhaps not legally married after he died and had a daughter. Until then my father and aunt thought their grandmother was widowed (she was dead by then before all this came out). Otherwise my family is fairly normal and not inbred. First she found out that her father's father was not the person in whose home he was raised (and her father suspected this already and pretty much knew who was his father -- "Your grandmother was wild when she was young"). Then she found out, and briefly saw actual evidence for (a baptismal record), that her mother's mother was not the woman in whose home she was raised, but actually was the woman who was the oldest daughter in that household. She once "saved" a coral snake to show the neighbor children and called the zoo or someone. I would have sent my husband out to kill it instead.
Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at March 07, 2026 12:19 AM (WONhk) I would’ve done that. I don’t mess with the poison ones, but when I find an ordinary snake I usually try to catch it and look at it, then let it go. Snakes are cool, never bothered me. And I would never kill a coral snake, they’re incredibly beautiful, little works of art! I’d relocate it if I found one too close to people. One of my 2nd great grandmothers unknowingly married a bigamist (he was supposed to have divorced his first wife) after her first husband died. She only found out about her second husband's perfidy after he passed away and she applied for his Civil War veteran's benefits. Then, in tge investigation to establish that she indeed was owed that pension, it came out that her marriage to him was not valid because he was a bigamist. Then it came letter that announced denial of the benefit for her and thd reason why arrived at the home of the sister with whom she was staying. That very day she was discovered on her bed, dead, in her bedroom. I am convinced that the news of her having hitched her wagon to a bigamist and that she would be bereft of support that she had expected to have was what killed her. And half- and step-cousins, but it's harder to draw divorces and remarriages on a family tree. Double cousins happen when a pair of siblings marries another pair of siblings. One of my grandmother's sisters was married to one of my grandfather's brothers, so my father has double-first-cousins. (And I have double-first-cousins-once-removed.)
