AI generated results in Bing search pointed users at malicious versions of OpenClaw that attempted to install a whole swarm of malware onto your computer. (Bleeping Computer)

Even worse than the legitimate version of OpenClaw, I mean.
The CEO of cheating app Cluely lied about the company's revenue. (Tech Crunch)

That's slightly worse than trying to fudge your term paper.
There is no longer a 512GB Mac Studio. (Macrumors)

It was expensive. Now it's gone.
Nvidia on the other hand is reportedly preparing an RTX 5050 with 9GB of RAM. (Tom's Hardware)

That's up from the current 8GB, but the details kind of make sense given the exact specs of the 5050. The update would switch from four 16Gb DDR6 chips running at 20GHz to three 24Gb DDR7 chips running at 28GHz.

It would provide a little more memory and a little more performance while using fewer components. The rest of Nvidia's 5000 series graphics cards all use DDR7 memory; the entry-level 5050 was the only one that did not.
Lenovo's Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is set to arrive in March. (Liliputing)

I have the smaller, cheaper Idea Tab Nothing. It's not an amazing performer but the display is first rate - Lenovo calls it "paperlike" and I can't disagree. It doesn't feel like looking at a screen at all; it feels like magic.

The new model has a 13" 3540x2190 display (mine has an 11" 2560x1600 screen), 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a microSD slot, and a pen. The specs don't use the term "paperlike" anywhere but I hope it's similar.

15 Belated BOING!

Sashimi prepped. Chicken in the oven.

Watched a ballistic sound and light show from our apartment balcony last night at 11PM. No siren locally as it was north of us.

Spectacular view of intercept launches followed by a successful exoatmospheric intercept followed by 2 balls of wreckage on fire coming down and landing in open areas somewhere way to the NW of us.

I miss my innocent childhood.

65 I do think the plan for the war has proceeded along OK so far, but somebody at the DoW dropped the ball on what to do about the Strait of Hormuz.

Seems that should've been a top priority to keep open by targeting the Iranian navy and any assets on land that could close the strait.

As of now ship traffic has pretty much stopped.

67 Miss Linda dragged me to a watercolor class at the library yesterday afternoon . . . and to my surprise I enjoyed it. The watercolors my mother bought me when I was a kid always smelled like mud (or maybe it was our tap water). These did not. The teacher played a video of a woman painting with watercolor, and they both talked about leaving "white space" in between the strokes of the brush. So I did that. My result: two rather tightly-bunched abstract "roses" in blue and orange, a larger and more organic-looking reddish one, and something that looked like a red and green angel fish -- at least two others in the class said "That's a fish" when they looked at it.

I guess most people are not aware of what Iran’s capabilities were, and why this had to be a major, weeks long war, not just some one and done raid. Besides the larger warships, Iran has bragged about having as many as 3000 - 5000 speedboats with a couple of missiles strapped to them, as well as almost 20 mini submarines that have a 7 man crew and a couple of torpedoes.
The purpose of all of these light forces was not to face other military units, it is to hide out near the straits and attack all civilian shipping.

They have no defensive capability and can be stopped, but it is going to require the complete destruction of every dock and every village along the 50 mile length of the straits to do so. That will take time, and hundreds of sorties. (If not thousands)

The Chinese are negotiating a way to let their oil transports through.

A big problem is that a lot of natural gas from the Emirates goes through the strait. Most of that goes to Europe.

The Europeans are more than likely to blame Trump and complain than to blame Iran and jump in the fight

I know it ain't as easy as flipping a switch to get sleep, but eventually exhaustion will take over after the adrenaline keeping you awake runs out.

I guess because the job is related to plants and outside and it's wintertime. Anyway, he needs to get straightened out things about recommendations because the person hiring couldn't get in touch with
People who recommended son.

He's been very discouraged, jumps into negative and obsessive thinking. He says "Everybody I graduated with in high school has a good job" I asked him how many graduated with him and he said "400". "And you know all those people personally?" People are not posting on Facebook about their struggles . I told him to get off FB and whenever he had a negative thought to substitute a positive one.

Maybe it's because people want jobs with big companies and don't want to deal with running their own company. I know for a fact though the business is out there, I turn it down all the time. I guess I was lucky. Moved a lot as a kid so no lifelong friends, family is white trash so no help there. Did the needful.

You can major in it, if you choose the right courses.
Mouthy little squishes stand in the line, check the boxes, collect the slip of paper, then say "nobody taught me..."
You have to sign up for the class. You have to pay attention.
If you bought yourself a shitty education, you might blame your parents or yourself or a guidance counselor, but you have no call to "salt the ashes where it stood."

Grew up in the military, lost my friends every two years. Getting out of CA and moving to MD because I met the right woman was an easy choice even though I didn't have a job waiting for me.

Everyone wants wealth and fame (but privacy also) and they want it NOW with no effort. But it's okay. They know their worth and they'll manifest it.

I've been watching a lot Eastern Bloc/Soviet TV lately, just out of curiosity about it. Sub-substandard stuff. The animation is my favorite. As the Communist experiment got less and less viable, the animation grew weirder and weirder. And weirder. By the late 80s it was downright inscrutable.
