Schmoll: Republicans Pull Dead Even with Democrats in Congressional Midterm Race, 50/50
A stunning new survey conducted by the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard (CAPS), the Harris Poll, and HarrisX suggests that the GOP has drawn even with the Democrats with eight months to go until the midterm elections. The poll of 1,999 registered voters, which was conducted online between February 25 and 26, found that 50% of Americans would vote for the Republican candidate in their congressional district and 50% would vote for the Democratic one if the midterms were held today. That marked an enormous improvement for the GOP, which trailed the Democrats 54%-46% on the same question last month.Trump's job approval also ticked up by 3%:
For his part, Trump's net approval rating ticked upward from -6 last month (45%-51%) to -3, (46%-49%).In more Schmolling news: Reports of a "MAGA split" over Iran have been greatly exaggerated. A breakdown of some of the individual polls showed that Republicans were united on the issue, with no one poll showing more than 18% opposing military action in Iran. The vast majority of the disapproval came from Democrats -- who were also fairly united -- and, to a lesser extent, independents. A CBS/YouGov poll taken between March 2 and March 3, for example, showed that just 10% of Democrats approved of military action in Iran and 90% disapproved. Among independents, 63% opposed the action and 37% were in favor. A majority of Republicans (85%) supported military action and just 15% did not. A similar result came from a Washington Post poll taken on March 1, which showed Democrat opposition at 87% and support at 9%. On the Republican side, 81% approved and 12% did not -- and independents once again fell in the middle, with 59% against military action and 28% in favor of it. A Reuters/Ipsos survey followed the same pattern, with 5% of Democrats supporting military action in Iran and 95% against it. Republicans came out largely in favor of military action, showing 82% approving and 18% disapproving. Among independents, 67% disapproved and 29% supported the action. The apparent outlier included in the average was a poll from InsiderAdvantage taken on February 28, but it still showed similar numbers from Republicans: 79.3% in favor and 12% opposed. The numbers for Democrats shifted slightly, with 62.5% disapproving and 32.1% approving. Independents also showed much higher numbers in favor of military action, with 45.3% supporting and 40.3% opposing.I'm definitely not saying that if you've made the unwise choice to join the ranks of the anti-intervention absolutists and Ron Paul acolytes, then you're a Nazi. It's a slow burn thriller out of step where the slasher genre went.
It's heavily influenced by Hitchcock, building tension over the length of the film, rather than being splashy like the Friday the 13th movies pushed the genre.
Friday the 13th was largely influenced by Mario Bava's Bay of Blood. Halloween was influenced by lower key Hitchcock. They're diametrically oppositional. But, Friday the 13th actually ended up influencing everything to such a degree (and released its sequel so fast) that Halloween II really had no choice but to fall in line and become more facially gruesome.

The plan, worst-case, is to cripple the Islamic Republic's ability to project force, and to let the local Shi'ites know that exporting all this terrorist crap overseas will result in nasty results at home. All the other cases are better. Maybe they get an Islamic Republic led by someone sane, like ayatollah Seistani in Iraq was. Maybe they get a westernized Republic. Maybe they just get a Shah.
Presently, I don't see any point in allowing a terrorist group to own a span of territory, much less territory that covers Persia which in many ways was the first Western empire.

They tend to be worth it. Like the anti-radar missiles that lock in on enemy missile batteries' radar signals and blow them up. I'm sure the missile is pricey, but it destroys the batteries that can blow up your planes or even your aircraft carrier. (The latter is a big worry of mine, that one missile is going to get through and hit a carrier and really reduce support for the war, and Trump.)

Well, that was stupid of them. I think 2015, someone (Heartiste?) analyzed photos of Donald Trump standing around a table with Robert Redford, Warren Beatty, and Jack Nicholson, and determined that Trump is a Super-Alpha. If you can't even command the room's respect walking into a local pub, you're not going to get a Super-Alpha to bend to your will.

You should feel better soon. BUFFs are in theater and dropping a lot of plain dumb bombs along with probably some JDAMs that are pretty cheap too. These only operate in the most permissive air environments and that means that Iran's air defenses are kaput. A single B52 can drop about 70,000 lbs of dumb bombs and plastering drone and missile magazine entries is probably what they are going to do.
We also have some older tech laser designated bombs that are jam proof from the regular jammers today and they simply require a laser designator on targets. We first used those in Vietnam and in Gulf War I in quantity.
Upgraded versions exist today that are pretty cheap compared with expensive standoff weapons designed for all sorts of EM jamming.

However, it's the wrong choice. The camera should be centered on Connelly as the girl passes in the bottom frame of the shot behind her. It would be more effective that way.

Word. In Vietnam, the Thanh Hoa Bridge withstood hundreds of sorties from US bombers with dumb bombs, over 7 years of trying to knock the damned thing down. Not to mention at least 20-30 planes being shot down while trying to take it out.
Once the US deployed laser-guided bombs, it only took one mission in '72 with a handful of aircraft to heavily damage the bridge so that it was unusable. About 4 more missions totally destroyed it, without losing any aircraft.
Precision air weapons are individually expensive, but on the battlefield, they're cheap when you consider their effectiveness.

Absolutely. They're different from the norms. They crave that 15 minutes, want to be cosmopolitan, European, exotic, and in-the-game. They've had little to really fear in life. Spoiled, believe that they've actually learned something of use from US schools on their level the last many years; that war (or even a good ass kicking) will never touch them; that they'll be saved by civil society &/or half-assed politicians who've already opened Pandora's box and are too fucking stupid to get themselves out, but in their own places they'll offer up "the others," especially the Jews, who will fight back.

I watched some YouTube about WW2 and how our assembly line tech was cranking out so many bombers (or some plane) that Germans thought it was just propaganda, because they could not do 1/20th of that.
I'm hoping we have plants cranking out 300/day of those $39K very capable drones, with ability to ramp up much higher. And hopefully we have an array of other small drones to attack enemy drones attacking us in masses. Trump seems to be the first president to not be in service to the MIC, as he demanded the cheap but effective drones.

There is a certain type of person that just loves to argue on and on and will do every single logical fallacy that they can pull out of their ass to 'win'.

When you communicate and propose ways to fix someone's public image and use those comms with people like Wolff to try to remove Trump in term 1, that is not undercover, that is collusion with an evil man. I like the conversation (I forgot who had it) that goes, "Jeffrey, you've been good at rehabbing your image, care to give me some tips on rehabbing mine". Because, it's obvious what tarnished Epstein's "image". So it shows an awareness of accusations about Epstein.

I still don't see Bannon as the bad guy. He and Navarro are the two that went to prison, and Navarro is still great on economic matters imo. Bannon was instrumental to Trump winning in 2016 afaik.
Just why Bannon was in touch with Epstein, idk. Bannon was with Goldman Sachs for some time, not sure where his money comes from. When I listened to him he seemed very MAGA, and his "War Room Posse" was big on making phone calls to their congressmen on important issues. I don't see him as at all anit-Israel, but I have not listened to him lately.
Any friction between Bannon and Trump may be like that between Trump and Coulter ... who also was major in helping Trump win in 2016. Then Trump turned on his helpers and brought in back-stabbers. Coulter loves what Trump is doing now (not sure what her stance is on Iran exactly).

He rather mulishly objected to mixing history with fantasy, including talking animals narrating history in a children's book. And he wouldn't let it go, on a Rush Limbaugh anniversary. Got a two-week timeout, IIRC.
