Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 3/3/26![]() Good morning kids. And so, despite President Trump serving up heaping helpings of KABOOM to Iran's leadership . . . President Donald Trump said Monday the initial strikes targeting Iran killed dozens of Iranian leaders during a breakfast meeting with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Trump confirmed Khamenei’s death in a post on Truth Social Saturday, hours after he announced the commencement of Operation Epic Fury early that morning. “Special Report” host Bret Baier told “America’s Newsroom” co-hosts Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino that Trump was “pleased”with the progress of Operation Epic Fury. . . . over here it's turning into déjà vu all over again. Or is it? Has the President betrayed the MAGA movement and one of its bedrock principles of no more endless and pointless wars? Obviously the usual suspects on the Left and Right are bleating this out to sow political division for their own advantage . . . As an aside, I have neither seen nor heard of any reaction from John Kerry. Considering he was one of the chief architects of Obama's nuclear deal that put Iran squarely on the path to getting the bomb, and was often parlaying and paling around with Javad Zarif and other big wigs of the Iranian regime, Even post his tenure at Foggy Bottom, his silence is interesting. Imagine if his rotten criminal corpse turned up in a Tehran mortuary! But, it may be semantics but in my estimation what we're seeing with Iran is not going to be endless and certainly it's not pointless. The two questions, which most of us outside the government simply do not have answers to, are: First: Was the threat posed by Iran really that great? Second: Can we effectively and efficiently install a friendly regime in Iran? Those are the two questions. Everything else is noise. . . . . . This is not being pitched as Iraq 2.0. It is being pitched as a decisive, overwhelming, time-limited force. The early days have been extremely successful. Military leadership decapitated. Key targets neutralized. A regime that has openly threatened American interests for decades suddenly thrown off balance. But early success does not guarantee long-term success. A billion things could go wrong.Indeed. And so far, so much has gone so incredibly right, the deaths of US servicemen as well as any innocent civilians notwithstanding, but such is the nature of war. As I and others have said and written here and on the podcast as well as elsewhere, The Iranian regime such as it was (and I hope and pray my use of the past tense is correct) had already spent the better part of nearly 50 years spilling rivers of blood, quite a bit of it American, all over the world as far and away the number one state sponsor of terrorism and also in that time had been hell bent for leather in building and acquiring nuclear weapons and sophisticated missile delivery systems, all of which to bring about Armageddon as the precursor to Shiite paradise on Earth and the final conquest of the world, capping off the 1,500-year crusade to make it Islamic from pole to pole and ocean to ocean. Whether or not President Trump truly understands the existential threat that Islam poses to global peace and the advancement of civilization and human development from an historical, ideological and intellectual perspective I can't say. But that he does take that 50 year chants of "Death to America" and the regime's bloody history is self-evident insofar as where we are today. And of course there are other considerations vis a vis this President's desire to see America's status in the world as its preeminent power and the driving force of its destiny, not merely for his own place in history but for the sake of ensuing America's security and prosperity well past its 250th anniversary this coming July. With Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil-export terminal, in flames after Saturday’s US-led attack, China’s energy lifeline is going up in smoke. Ignoring international sanctions, oil-thirsty China had long been the Ayatollah Khamenei regime’s main buyer. To be sure, China was a cheap customer, paying well below the going market price for Iran’s bootleg oil. Not only that, it insisted in paying in Chinese yuan, not dollars, ensuring the money would flow back to China. Beijing’s slick sales pitches convinced the Iranians to spend their oil billions buying China’s military and telecommunications equipment — like the “state-of-the-art” radar systems that now lie in smoldering ruins after failing to detect the incoming American air strikes. But the decapitation of Iran’s leadership and the destruction of its Chinese-made defense arsenal aren’t the worst of Beijing’s Middle East woes. Iran’s reckless missile barrages have united the entire region against it — causing an enormous loss of face for its chief international backer. Two years ago, China was riding high in the Arab world. In March 2023 it brokered a normalization agreement between Shiite Iran and its longtime Sunni adversary, Saudi Arabia. Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih praised the new Middle Eastern power broker. A multipolar world had emerged, he declared — and cooperation between the Gulf states and China would be “a significant part of the new order.” A year into President Donald Trump’s second term, China’s role in that new order seems to be shrinking by the day. It’s not just that Iran, the anchor of China’s Middle East ambitions, is now an international pariah. That’s only the latest in a long series of recent geopolitical setbacks for America’s chief adversary. . . . . . From Panama to Venezuela, from Greenland to Iran, the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. Trump is thinking very bigly. As US energy production ramps up, China is not only deprived of cheap oil from Venezuela and Iran, but also the ability to pay for it by printing renminbi. . . . . .His goal is to transform the global order to America’s advantage — which necessarily means greatly reducing the malign influence of Communist China. “Winning without fighting is the acme of warfare,” the ancient Chinese strategist Sunzi famously said. And where China is concerned, it seems that one of Sunzi’s best students is a yangguizi — a “foreign devil” by the name of Donald J. Trump.Have a great day! No, the three from Iran was not too great, the point of taking out Iran is similar to why Trump took out Venzeula, it's an indirect attack on China and by proxy Russia, Iran is also the last domino to fall in reordering and mollifying the Middle East.

Has anyone even heard anything about ground troops even being staged to move in to Iran? I really don't beleive there are any plans for boots on the ground there.
Of course, just hoping that the regime fails and the Shah returns in glory or the people rise up and form a new government on their own is one of those pixie dust and unicorn farts level of wishing for the best. I have to believe Trump and Marco have some sort of plan for the aftermath, but I have seen no indications that they do. Of course, it is probably wise to keep thst thing close to the vest for now. For this reason, it was not only built fast and at a low cost, it uses an innovative flight path that allowed it to be launched anytime and wait in orbit for the right moment to go to Mars. This last innovation provides for a lot more flexibility.
============================= Is there any other way? The travel routes to Mars are only available for a few months in every twelve, so launching, and then holding in orbit is how everyone will send large cargoes, I would have thought. Posted by: Huck Follywood at March 03, 2026 07:12 AM (vFXRK) 15

First: Was the threat posed by Iran really that great? Second: Can we effectively and efficiently install a friendly regime in Iran?
--- 1) don't care; irrelevant. "Just war" theory is a suicidal fraud-- that we must only go to war to defend. It's exploited by tyrants while hobbling the good to permanent inaction. Iran killed Americans. That alone is justification. Future threat is irrelevant. 2) don't care; irrelevant. "Pottery Barn" war and peace is an even uglier and more destructive theory than just war. We "owe" Iran and it's people-- even the freedom loving--nothing. Jack, diddly and shit. Doesn't matter what shape the new government takes, as long as it knows to it's core: Harm one hair in the head of an American and you all will die. I am still blown away by how simple news pundits are, a great example being the group panel from two nights ago where one person figured out the ten million illegals Biden let in probably includes some number of Iranian jihadis, and then another person figured out they might have drones, and another finally connected those dots to conclude Iran can attack America domestically from inside our own country, and its all thanks to Democrats...

The speculation i mentioned yesterday that we deliberately cut the UK out is being confirmed.
US intelligence is (was) shared with MI6, who shares it with Lloyd's, who then had a massive risk analysis advantage over all insurers, not just making them the dominant insurer but also setting large loss policy rates worldwide. And giving the UK hundreds of billions in revenue. And control. If the UK had foreknowlege, they can cancel or threaten to cancel shipping policies to force businesses to demand no action but appeasement in Iran. Too late they are now canceling policies trying to force Trump back to a limited war that returns the status quo, blaming the war for the canceling. Iran's ships are sunk. We control the strait. Shipping is insured by the US Navy. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at March 03, 2026 07:30 AM (HXT0k) 38

This, with the election fraud being perpetrated with vote and ballot tabulating systems controlled by the likes of Maduro and the Ayatollahs is certainly cause for great concern. What has historically been called “propaganda” is arguably just as dangerous as any invading army or bombs dropped from the air. At its core is the desire to foment revolution. Trump has been a public figure virtually his entire life. For those of us who grew up around NYC he was a constant presence in the media and always willing to give his opinion on any issue. Shocking, I know. He's been railing against China since he was in his 20s because of their predatory business tactics which Trump dealt with first hand putting up buildings and buying steel and other building products. He was also very clear about his feelings that the terrorist regime in Iran should be taken out. He's been remarkably consistent on both issues and there are videos and news articles about both. The west has been under attack and losing ground against an alliance led by China that was supported and fueled by rogue regimes like Venezuela and Iran. Trump is reinvigorating the western alliance and putting America first. Amazing to watch. Posted by: JackStraw at March 03, 2026 07:44 AM (viF8m) 62

Matt Walsh is a peculiar dude. He's been outstanding on trans stuff and right on other issues... but he has a contrarian streak that seemingly demands he occasionally lashes out at Trump. It's silly... the "forever wars" comment is just not well thought out. The same things were said about Venezuela and that obviously wasn't a war. I wouldn't even say Epic Fury is a war; it's limited military action that I'd predict will be over even before the (unconstitutional) war powers act timeline (60 days IIRC) could kick in...

One thing Trump has done to open people's eyes is to pull the curtain back on "politics." It's really not all that nuanced as our political betters would lead us to believe. That only certain people, with special skills, can do "politics."
Seeing how basic and primitive it really is must shock the shit out our chattering class. When the US implores you to stop what you're doing and you flip us off, shit happens. It's that simple. But when you have "politicians" at the helm, and they need to dance the dance, string things out needlessly, people uninformed think politics is really, really complicated and hard. And we absolutely must elect only certain, qualified people to do it. Only now are some realizing the political class is lining their pockets right under the public's nose. It’s taken 40 years of hard work and technological development to get to where we are now. Our military is not just twice as lethal as the army of Reagan’s day; I’d say that today’s military is easily 10 times more lethal than that of 1983, if not much more than that. We can truly say that America’s military today is the most powerful and most unmatched military force that has ever existed in the history of the world. That is no exaggeration, it is the truth. Yup. And before him, our biggest anti-Communist POTUS was a Hollywood actor. Think so much of Trump's experience/skill came from building things. There is nothing theoretical about a Trump tower, it is made from quality materials, by competent men, via negotiations with a variety of different groups (unions, mob, bureaucrats/politicians, community, etc.) and must stand strong for many years. Compare that experience to Obama, who's only ever talked and talked and talked. It's all ideas and vibes, and of course, loads of taxpayer (i.e. unearned) cash. It’s hilarious to see all those coming out against this action, both left and (supposedly) right.
It shows those that A) have no understanding of geopolitics B) have no understanding of military tactics or operations, and most of all C) have completely forgotten that one never comes out against any war, especially one your own country is involved in, UNTIL you know whether it will be successful or not, defined in common term. People don’t “hate” all war, people hate losing wars, including those that waste large amounts of lives and treasure for no clear goals achieved. But people love a win, especially one done with ease. Posted by: Opinion fact at March 03, 2026 08:36 AM (4hjRS) I have read... I don't vouch for accuracy... that the missiles are stockpiled on bunkers. The Iranians have mobile launchers (answering your question) which they drive to the bunker, load up, and then drive to the launch site. The IDF, and presumably the US, are playing "SCUD hunt" and trying to kill the launchers and destroy the bunkers. Posted by: I used to have a different nic at March 03, 2026 08:40 AM (ExV1e) 208

180 How is Iran continuing to shoot their missiles? Are they mobile platforms?
Posted by: Opinion fact at March 03, 2026 08:36 AM (4hjRS) Yes, they are mobile platforms. There’s video of the Israelis catching these, they look like work over oil rigs with a large missile in the back of the truck rather than a derrick, and the targeting is preprogrammed. Iran has dispersed these to dozens of sites around the country, many in hard to detect tunnels cut into mountainsides. This was known, and why those who were aware of Iran’s capabilities knew it would take a couple of weeks and hundreds, if not thousands of sorties to track these all down and destroy them. And the drone launchers are even simpler and easier to launch. Posted by: Tom Servo at March 03, 2026 08:42 AM (etYFQ) 212

TBH I don't know if this is true. The left/Islamic alliance is clearly one of convivence, were they to finish destroying us they would then fight themselves and Islam is obviously a lot more violent. BUT The reason the left has generally appeared incompetent at fighting wars is they haven't actually wanted to win them - eg Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria. It was always going to take weeks of strikes to truly destroy a regime, any who thought this could be one and done believed in a marvel comics version of the world. The IRGC, which claims 190,000 members, is going to have to be annihilated before Iran surrenders, and that will take a lot of work. But it’s an achievable goal, with 2 - 3 weeks of constant hits . Another fun bit of info about Russia’s position on this war, and why they refused to help Tehran when the Mullahs begged for assistance: it’s believed that over the last few months, the Iranian leadership had transferred over a half trillion dollar equivalent assets to Moscow for protection from sanctions, etc. If the regime fails, Moscow simply denies that any of it exists, and keeps all of it for themselves.
Which might explain the faint smile playing around Putin’s lips when he condemns the current American Aggression. Posted by: Tom Servo at March 03, 2026 09:08 AM (etYFQ) 322

In my estimate Russia is one of the big winners of US Special Military Operation against Iranian terrorist regime. One, they have an inflow of hundreds of billion dollars in gold and crypto from escaping, and in some cases no longer living mullahs. No refunds! Two, now China will be forced to buy Russian oil. You don't expect China to buy Saudi oil, do you? And while Russia and Iran were sort of buddies, Russia knew mullahs were still jihadi savages feeding jihad along its eastern border. So that is why Russia's voice is so minimal, they left it with low level (UN rep and foreign minister) expressions of disappointment in the whole thing. Shame, shame! And when Iranians called Putin, he was..not available.

California Attorney General Promises to Prosecute Anyone Investigating Somali Fraud
If there is no fraud to be found anyone trying to do it will embarrass themselves. Its only if there is fraud and the current people in power are involved that you would want to stop people from investigating. Also, I suspect a lot of this is going to be a specific form of fraud the FNM/left doesn't want to talk about where a Somali guy is married to multiple women. Wife 1 claims she is running a daycare and her clients? The children of Wife 2. And same with Wife 2 and Wife 1's kids. Posted by: 18-1 at March 03, 2026 09:10 AM (sKqQm) 330

> Let's all remember the Iranian drone industry comes directly from Obama letting them steal one of ours. They saw where it landed and did not then blow it up before Iran could dissemble it...
-------------- I read that the Iranians spoofed the GPS in that region, basically jammed the RQ-170 and fed it bogus coordinates to land at. That there's no comparable drone in Iran's inventory leads one to believe they were unable to reverse engineer it. And subsequent RQ-170's are networked and do not have to rely only on GPS for navigation. But, it was a significant, technological loss that probably has been leveraged by China and, to a lesser degree, Russia. When the other side can't launch rockets or drones anymore, when our side is using dumb bombs instead of smart bombs because we own the skies so much, it's pretty much over. Trump ain't sending in a hundred thousand men to hold Iran. He's doing what he did in Venezuela. Chop off the head, and then negotiate with what's left.
