Why would you have a pic of Esther today? (Joking. Esther is one of the few OT books I've read.) Another artist who couldn't afford anything but brown paint, alas. Alexa, brighten this up with colorfulness. The important thing, of course, is to ask if the attendant on the right is a gal and topless, or just some eunuch? Edwin Long's painting captures the biblical story of Queen Esther, who risked her life to save her people from persecution. The artwork reflects the Victorian academic style, characterized by meticulous detail and realistic representation. Long's use of vibrant colors, particularly gold and red, conveys the opulence of the Persian court. Themes and Interpretation The painting depicts Esther in a moment of tension, poised before King Ahasuerus. This scene symbolizes courage and the struggle for justice. Esther's expression reflects her inner turmoil, embodying the complexities of her role as both a queen and a Jewish woman in a precarious position. DeMille said his family had a very large and lavishly illustrated Bible, and that a lot of his epic shots were his imaginings of the scenes from that volume. I had an illustrated Bible for children, in black and white as befitted our social class, and enjoyed the visuals even though the text was not moving.
It's pretty clear that art like this be-peoples our dreams of what potentates like Cleopatra must have looked like. This is like an Edith Head costume sketch, or Little Alex's prison fantasy. I think if we had more and better illustrated Bibles, we'd have more history and biblical scholars, and a higher class of porn as well. The Friedman test or so-called "rabbit test" first developed in 1931 was later refined and called the A-Z test. It involved injecting urine from a woman into a laboratory rabbit and then killing the rabbit and examining the ovaries for hormone-induced changes. The urine itself did not harm the rabbits, but the dissection had permanent fatal results, thus a positive result euphemistically was referred to as "the rabbit died". Ironically, even a negative test resulted in the rabbit's demise.

Why the differences based on location, Biden's Dog?
Posted by: Aetius451AD at March 02, 2026 10:00 AM (bss/y) - Long story but the Jews of Shushan were given an additional day to destroy their enemies and only rested the day after the same was done the day before by the Jews elsewhere throughout the Persian Empire. Then, in order to recall that the exile was not the place where the Jews belonged, they retroactively set the holiday's date based on whether the locale one is in was a walled city from the time of Joshua's conquest of Cana'an, as Jerusalem was. Have to cut it short and head out for a while. Maybe l8r. Posted by: Biden's Dog sniffs a whole lotta malarkey, at March 02, 2026 10:06 AM (1o8D5) 117

I'm pretty sure I saw a movie about Esther. One scene I remember was when her childhood friend, cousin or maybe even a betrothed at one time, visited her with good news/bad news. Good news, he's been spared death and now serves on the king's court. Bad news, they castrated him. The Esther character, though pleased with the good news, had zero reaction to the bad news. Being a guy, this non-reaction kind of stuck in my memory.

Per wikipedia The word comes from Latin torquis (or torques), from torqueo, "to twist", because of the twisted shape many of the rings have. Typically, neck-rings that open at the front when worn are called "torcs" and those that open at the back "collars". Smaller bracelets and armlets worn around the wrist or on the upper arm sometimes share very similar forms. Torcs were made from single or multiple intertwined metal rods, or "ropes" of twisted wire. Most of those that have been found are made from gold or bronze, less often silver, iron or other metals (gold, bronze and silver survive better than other metals when buried for long periods). Funny how all the latest coordinated criticisms of Trump are in the exact same vein. All of them. The DNC has realized that Trump is too strong so now all they can say is that he is "weakness disguised as strength" and "recklessness hidden as resolve.
The idea being any of the good you see or feel from Trump is actually merely "proof" of the opposite thing. Very much a last ditch effort of branding and it shows they are absolutely losing the branding and labeling war. Posted by: ... at March 02, 2026 10:23 AM (6t1NV) 179

This remarkable frame makes use of design motifs from the painting in the decorative elements of the frame. The ornament on the inner scotia is taken from the frieze on the base of the wall in the background, right. The motif on the leading edge is adapted from the ornament on the lid of the chest. The frame maker is identified by an invoice from John and William Vokins for: An ornamental Persian pattern frame in oil and burnished gold with part of ornament picked out in green gold and double gilt matt flat for picture of Esther put together with bolts and screws. A double gilt tablet with inscription written there on for above frame. The invoice is dated 6 July 1878 and the frame cost £32.14.0. The painting cost £1600.2

He is running for the seat being vacated by incumbent Jerry Nadler, who is retiring. (AI Overview) Based on recent reports, Jack Schlossberg and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are on opposite sides of the political spectrum, with Schlossberg heavily criticizing his cousin for aligning with the MAGA movement under Donald Trump. Vehemently criticized RFK Jr. for this alignment, calling him a "collared dog" of Trump and a "pariah" to the Kennedy family legacy. Has accused Trump of being "obsessed" with the Kennedy name and trying to dismantle his grandfather's legacy, while criticizing his cousin for spreading misinformation and participating in this process. --- >Town & Country, Rumble in Hyannis: The Kennedy Feud Gets Serious, May 2025 🤡 Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at March 02, 2026 10:41 AM (NFX2v) 227
