Nicole Shananan Commissions Movie Script to Lampoon the Establishment's Unhinged Response to Covid, to be Called "The Rash"

I was literally just thinking about this over the weekend.

Every supposed "right wing" scandal gets left-wing movies made about them. And those movies, of course, become the "Real Story" for most of the country, who doesn't read the news.

Left-wing scandals don't get movies made about them. They just get covered up and then forgotten, as the left wants.

I think I actually thought of COVID in thinking about a left-wing scandal someone should make a movie about.

Nicole Shanahan, RFKJr.'s one-time running mate, has a lot of money thanks to her divorce from Google pussy Sergei Brin.

And she thinks the COVID lunacy is the perfect fodder for a satire.

So it won't actually be about covid. At least not in name. It will be about a completely different foreign virus, one that apparently produces "The Rash," that official DC and Hollywood and all left-captured institutions absolutely freak out and melt down over.

Sounds like a movie which needs to be made, about a grotesque and lethal case of Stage IV groupthink and hysteria.

Politico, of course, disagrees.

RFK Jr.'s billionaire running mate is making a comedy about the pandemic

Nicole Shanahan has recruited a top screenwriter and enlisted Covid contrarian Jay Bhattacharya.

"Contrarian"? You mean the guy who was contrarian against the left's COVID lunacy and was proven right on every single claim? You mean the guy who, unlike Anthony Fauci, actually is an epidemiologist and currently serves as head of the NIH?

That "contrarian"? That crank, which is of course what you mean?

Covid contrarians tight with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are pitching Hollywood on an unlikely leading man: National Institutes of Health Director Jay Bhattacharya.

You mean "Covid truth-tellers and heroes and vindicated True Men of Real Science."

Nicole Shanahan, Kennedy's running mate in the 2024 presidential campaign, is searching for investors to fund a movie that pokes fun at the pandemic response with a star based on Bhattacharya, who rose to prominence with his anti-lockdown manifesto and relentless tweets opposing social distancing.

The script for the satirical comedy, "The Rash," is by renowned author Walter Kirn, who wrote the novel "Up in the Air" that became an Oscar-nominated movie starring George Clooney. The new Kirn screenplay stars a "no-nonsense" public health professor at a Stanford-like California university -- mirroring Bhattacharya -- who speaks out against mass hysteria amid a mysterious outbreak of a contagious skin condition.

The story of the pandemic is one "of great heroes who stood up and said no" to "dangerous scientific experiments mixed with misleading propaganda, mass psychosis, and outright lies," says the Brownstone Institute in a recent appeal sent to potential funders of the film.

The think tank that once counted Bhattacharya as a senior scholar added that "investors are terrified of the topic and Hollywood elites don't even want it made."

...

Since 2020, a number of figures in Trump's orbit have been involved in the creation and promotion of films criticizing public officials' response to the pandemic or pushing fringe theories about it or vaccines.

Jeffrey Tucker, Brownstone's founder and president, didn't respond to requests for comment. In October 2020, he convened a group of scientists, including Bhattacharya, who wrote the Great Barrington Declaration opposing Covid lockdowns. It set off a vigorous debate about the pandemic response and prompted Bhattacharya's predecessor at NIH, Francis Collins, to call him a "fringe epidemiologist."

Bhattacharya, whom Kennedy also named acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday, is on board with the movie, an NIH spokesperson told POLITICO.

"Dr. Bhattacharya has spoken positively about the work Walter Kirn is doing, noting that the project reflects a strong commitment to free speech and open inquiry, and he welcomes thoughtful creative efforts that engage with these issues," the spokesperson said.

Of course, the left-wing network of basket-case lefties who usually fund movies have no interest in funding a sure-fire 10x budget hit.

Funding for "The Rash" nonetheless remains an obstacle. The estimated production budget is close to $6 million, according to a slide deck on Brownstone's website.

Brownstone "is well-positioned to be a fiscal sponsor of this effort," and the project "already has a top production company lined up along with some notable talent to make a first-rate film," the website says.

Six million? The thing will probably make $300 million.

I guess this is a Hollywood attempt at a covid exploitation movie.

Looks maybe interesting but I really want to see Fauci and his cultists lampooned.

6 Just a PSA, a high school classmate (female) of mine just passed from a stroke. One of my Army buddy's wife recently had a stroke. A friend of my best friend (male/confirmed unvaxxed) had a stroke. We are all in our late 30s/early 40s....er, 29...there is something weird going on (my guess are the effects of covid/vaxx). Please pay attention to your bodies and go to the hospital ASAP when you have odd symptoms that could be a stroke.

Conservatives should be making entertaining movies of types that are no longer produced by Hollywood. Explicitly political films can be expected to do poorly. It also helps to consider the available material and audience tastes rather than, to take a purely hypothetical example, having an actress known for action roles in science-fiction movies and casting her in a slow-burning western film.

The 80s were a different world when unabashed patriotism wasn't viewed as inherently political, and that's not what Rash would be. It's not an action movie that waves the flag, it's presumably a hard hitting look at a controversial time that people seem to want to forget.

86 Comparing 80s action movies, which did have a conservative bent, to what's made today in the conservative space is not a great comparison.

The 80s were a different world when unabashed patriotism wasn't viewed as inherently political, and that's not what Rash would be. It's not an action movie that waves the flag, it's presumably a hard hitting look at a controversial time that people seem to want to forget.

And Angel Studios almost exclusively does faith stuff which is its own fan base. David doing well doesn't surprise me. And The Sound of Freedom itself wasn't political, no matter how much the critics tried to make it

If we're at a point where making US military personnel the good guys is a "conservative leaning film" and explicitly political, the space is super bare.

If that's all indy producers need to do to appeal to mass audiences, they should focus on that. Throw in some, "Gosh, it's great to be ruggedly individual" and call it a day.

That's very, very far from "Here's a recent real event presented through an explicitly political lens, perhaps with some lampooning."

Lord...remember An American Carol?

My MIL suffered from dementia for a few years before she passed, right before the lockdown.

There was a memory care facility on the highway east of where we lived, that used to stage scenes on their lawn with large animal statues, like sheep playing football with a zebra referee, and so on.

I used to wonder if any of the residents were ever confused or worried by that.

The hippo suit had me immediately visualizing "Mom! It's me! Charlie! Give me a hug!"
"AAAAAAAAH!!!! HELP!!!! Nurse!!!!!!"

156 If we're at a point where making US military personnel the good guys is a "conservative leaning film" and explicitly political, the space is super bare.

Posted by: TheJamesMadison, discovering British horror with Hammer Films at February 24, 2026 04:41 PM (GBKbO)

That's my point. It wasn't a good movie. It was only a political movie. A movie where the FBI are dumbasses who are trying to get innocents killed or an innocent man arrested (Die Hard, Richard Jewell) are more likely to find success than overtly conservative movies.

You can made the spine of your movie Conservative but you have to make it quality overtop that.

Glad you are doing well! Can't believe you didn't lose power, all my friends and relatives did except my daughter whose little town has their own power plant for some reason.

I've chatted with JackStraw and he is fine. Lost power for a bit but it's back on now and he is good.

298 I never got conservatives and movies. They are so sick inside the old way of doing things, they never made a real push to actually win the culture war, which starts with TV and movies.

Conservative skewing movies tend to do great, and make huge profits, they also don't seem to really push away left or centrist leaning actors.

The only one really pushing such things seems to be Taylor Sheridan. Landman is basically filled with what would now be considered right wing rhetoric, and politics aside, it's one of the better and funnier shows on TV

299 I think they could make a movie of Obama's targeting of Trump, by just hiding the names.
