A Montreal hair salon has been ordered to pay $500 to a customer who claimed the company’s booking system is discriminatory. Alexe Frédéric Migneault identifies as non-binary and was asked to select a male or female haircut on the salon’s site in 2023.

Well, ladies’ haircuts generally take longer. And this has to be scheduled accordingly.

Migneault was disappointed to find that during the booking process, they were asked to select between a men's or women's cut and sent an email asking for accommodation.
They say they were told to just select one or the other. . .

Naturally, this reminder of reality had to be punished, at length, and so,

That would be really elegant to do it that way, the pollution could be controllable.

It is a process for extracting copper from ore, but I don't know if it is commercial. There is a similar process of reducing electronics waste to plasma in a Chlorine atmosphere to sort of distill off the rare-earths, but that is a unique situation

I agree, but remember the upside. The downside, of course, is that they are numerous, aggressive, and relentless. They care nothing for consequences to themselves, which makes fighting them very challenging.

The definition of "financialization" is that the main goal of everything is the money you can ~~screw out of~~ extract from it, no matter what the industry or function. It is also called "rentier economy". If you can pump the stock price and the profits by exporting the jobs, then the money rolls in and you can piously claim that a good tide lifts all boats. This is made worse if there are lawmakers who have a special relationship with other countries who want to take up the manufacturing.
It looks like the EPA, the USDoT Energy and Commerce are working together for once to onshore major manufacturing. It is going to help that major European manufacturers are coming the the US because the energy is cheaper, the labor is educated and the taxes are low.

Social media is very specifically engineered to generate outrage because that maximizes profit for the social media companies by driving the longest/most consistent engagement. I keep mentioning this but there is a grand jury in Ft Pierce, Florida currently hearing evidence of a decade long conspiracy to deprive Trump of his civil rights. The judge in charge of the proceedings is Aileen Cannon, the same judge who shut down Jack Smith. Brennan's legal team made a motion to have her removed. Didn't work. Florida isn't DC.

If the positions were reversed this would be the non-stop media story. Anyone who doesn't believe the media still has enormous sway when it comes to narrative setting is kidding themselves. Switch Trump with Obama and there would be never ending coverage of this situation.

I can't rule that out. We met at a Christian conference which will meet four times in two years. I've attended one in person conference with three to go. As the conference opened I really wondered if that was where I should be. Lots of red flags!
