So, Supremes came out and said the Congress could not delegate powers specifically given to it, by the Constitution.
The Trump Administration should now IMMEDIATELY file lawsuits on every single Judge that has ruled against the administration... because the only reason they can do that are rules that are now UnConstitutional under that doctrine.. because it is Congress Job according to the Constitution to write the rules under which lower courts have power.... but they delegated rule writing to the Supremes in the 1930's. I generally agree to challenge the kids but it depends on the adult and the age of the child. My ex decided to "teach" our son chess when he was not quite six. He barely explained the moves and proceeded to beat the kid into the ground then laugh at him. When son was about 14 or 15 they competed on a baseball computer game (no multiplayer at the time). When he finally beat his father--his father refused to play with him again.

Basil Rathbone's younger brother was a British officer, as Basil was. He was killed in France. Basil was in Intelligence and his bro's death affected him greatly, making him oblivious to danger, going on very risky missions, including the fake tree in no man's land camo thing. It's a wonder he survived the war.
Britain, Canada, lost many of their best leaders and men. Rathbone was also two-time British Army fencing champion. He taught Tyrone Power and Errol Flynn sword fighting. Posted by: Flanders Field at February 20, 2026 11:05 PM (oftw2) 115

She's such a delicate flower that it doesn't occur to her to exert herself to hand over the largest bits of wood she can handle and instead hands him a small scrap, which he throws back at her when she turns to get another.

[Breitbart] A previously deported illegal alien has died after he opened fire on Charleston County, South Carolina, sheriff deputies during a police chase this month.
On Feb. 11, illegal alien Floriberto Perez-Nieto of Mexico was sought by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office as the main suspect in a shooting the day before. When deputies located Perez-Nieto, they attempted to pull him over, but the illegal alien tried to evade arrest and opened fire — shooting a deputy in the chest. The deputy was wearing a bulletproof vest and did not sustain any injuries. As a result of Perez-Nieto’s opening fire on deputies, they returned fire, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. “This criminal illegal alien illegally obtained a firearm and nearly killed a law enforcement officer,” the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “Thankfully, the officer’s body armor saved his life. There could have been quite a different tragic outcome for this officer and his family.” Posted by: Crusader at February 20, 2026 11:17 PM (Cjcf6) 128

Posted by: JQ at February 20, 2026 11:14 PM (rdVOm) No, cheese is fine. Posted by: Aetius451AD As are eggs, fish and milk. It's not animal products per se that we abstain from. "meat" back in the way back times was understood to mean flesh of warm-blooded animals — animals that have "flesh and blood" - mammals and birds. Fish, shellfish, reptiles, and eggs were never classified as "meat". Eggs were grouped with dairy products (milk, cheese, butter) as animal products that do not involve the direct killing of the animal. The Church historically viewed the killing and eating of an animal (shedding its blood) as the core act requiring abstinence. So . . . . . eggs, etc. get a pass. They are an often overlooked gem. Newport is where the robber barons summered and the sheer opulence of the places is mind boggling. They absolutely rival the castles of Europe. Those that haven't been cut up or taken over by various entities are open for viewing and worth a visit. In my misspent yute a group of women used to do a charity fundraiser they called the Gatsby Balls. They would get permission to use one of the mansions and put on a 1920s era ball. Guys in tuxedos, women in period dress. Complete with a 1920s swing band. For at least one night you got a small taste of what it was like to be a master of the universe. WW1 was one of if not the worst things that ever happened in history. We are still dealing with the results of it. Again, there are no such things as space traveling aliens, there are more than likely no other intelligent life in the entire universe, I will grant the remote possibility of simple life forms on other planets, but that possibility is vanishingly remote.
And even if there were somehow intelligent lifeforms on other planets, they would have had to made gigantic leaps in technology that would allow them to surmount the issues with intergalactic travel, which are, time, distance, physics, biology. Humans are optimized to live on earth, not to travel outside of the protective environment of earth, aliens would similarly be optimized for their environment and not interstellar space. Which is why the idea of humans going to Mars is complete fantasy. A theoretical mission to mars would expose the astronauts to 100 years worth of cosmic radiation in the theoretical 3 year mission. Wife and I had an 'animated' discussion as to whether gov't might be harboring information or evidence of 'aliens'. My position is if they've been around since the days of the pyramids - why no anachronistic physical evidence - like finding artifacts like say a candy bar wrapper in a 3000 year old tomb - or a piece of a circuit board or unidentifiable alloy in a dig in Israel or Rome?

If I get a set for a shovelhead it comes with every gasket ever used on shovelheads from 1966 up to 1984. 3 different cam cover gaskets, 3 different type of pushrod tube seals, etc etc. Some of the earliest gaskets can be used on the even older panheads. I mean yes but that's a significant chunk of the whole damn state. Also don't climb Mount Washington in the winter without gear. People keep trying to die that way for some reason. RI? Not a real state. MA? Unfortunately a real state. Fanuiel Hall is a tourist trap. >>In an infinite universe the idea that the only place life exists is on earth seems pretty silly. I'd be shocked if the only place life existed was here. The number of parameters ie, miracles necessary just to get the planetary environment to the point where inorganic soup could potentially become organic life is enormous. Then there is the other matter that intelligence is costly, dinosaurs existed on this planet for hundreds of millions of years and did not develop intelligence, our brains consume 20 pct of our resting energy. Humans emerged because a perfect and unique environment developed so that we could. There are literally 100s of finely tuned parameters that were necessary for life to emerge and 100s more for humans to emerge. It's just not probable that all of the parameters necessary were repeated. And again, the aliens would of had to emerged far sooner and developed far faster than we did, simply not possible given that it took roughly 4.5 billion years for humans to emerge. I think it's a case of if you want to believe.
Im pretty sure von Däniken didnt believe his own books. I read most of them as a teen; in one of the later books, in the midst of his usual oddly shaped rocks he reprinted a supposedly ancient carving that was unquestionably an alien, holding a record-like item. It was absolute proofif it existed. He wrote that hed been unable to find the source and went back to writing about unaccountably spherical rocks. Instead of moving heaven and earth to find that proof. I lost interest in Von Däniken at that point. Decades later I was able to find the source on the net. It was indeed alien. It was by a Soviet artist for a music magazine. Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at February 21, 2026 12:51 AM (EXyHK) 247
In an infinite universe the idea that the only place life exists is on earth seems pretty silly. I'd be shocked if the only place life existed was here.
- That depends on *why* life exists. Or the universe, for that matter. If it was created, then it's entirely possible that an infinite empty universe is a message from the Creator about His nature. It's also possible that life was created elsewhere, but given our fall into sin, I expect they'd want to avoid us. It's further possible that some of what we think of as angels ("sons of God" in Biblical terms) are biological entities using some manner of technology (The Genesis 6 account suggests this, and also that we should avoid them). Or if it was random, sure, there should be life everywhere, for some ratio of the stars. And one would assume that we're not the first, and given the rate of technological development we've seen in the last century (and the time scale that world view assumes), it's very hard to guess what their civilizations would look like. Infinite. That's a concept many ignore because it doesn't fit into their models. There is no end to the number of possible place live could have formed outside this solar system. There might be a mirror image Spock out there somewhere or there could be some kind of plant or worst case a planet full of Karens but the idea that the earth is the only place in the entire universe that somehow hit a magic wildcard and life evolved seems pretty shortsighted to me. Infinity is a pretty big thing. Posted by: JackStraw at February 21, 2026 12:56 AM (viF8m) 250
There is the hypothetical Fermi Paradox. The reason we don't see advanced alien civilizations is that at a certain point they become advanced enough to destroy themselves. And we're about at that point now. Posted by: Semi-Literate Thug at February 21, 2026 01:01 AM (VWtfl) 251

- You don't get infinity out of the Big Bang. There's some center where it happened, and whatever matter cam out of it is (at some point in the early bang) limited by the speed of light, so the age of the universe sets a limit at least on how far apart the furthest matter is. Spacetime beyond that might be infinite, but there's nothing (for certain values of nothing) there. Posted by: Methos at February 21, 2026 01:02 AM (vSvIl) 254
In an infinite universe the idea that the only place life exists is on earth seems pretty silly. I'd be shocked if the only place life existed was here.
Posted by: JackStraw If weird alien life is found elsewhere it would be taken as proof of intelligent design because the odds of it occuring randomly is nil. Posted by: Itinerant Alley Butcher at February 21, 2026 01:03 AM (/lPRQ) 255
Or if it was random, sure, there should be life everywhere, for some ratio of the stars. And one would assume that we're not the first, and given the rate of technological development we've seen in the last century (and the time scale that world view assumes), it's very hard to guess what their civilizations would look like.

There is the hypothetical Fermi Paradox. The reason we don't see advanced alien civilizations is that at a certain point they become advanced enough to destroy themselves. And we're about at that point now.
While I believe we are the only intelligent life in our galaxy (and possibly the universe), there are a number of answers to the Fermi paradox outside of destruction. Imagine, for example in a few years on Earth we develop the ability to build something like the Matrix but where each individual can choose to live in whatever artificial reality they want (the idea predates the movie). Presuming it is 100% impossible to tell it isn't real life how many people would voluntarily enter the simulation? It might be most... Posted by: 18-1 at February 21, 2026 01:05 AM (sKqQm) 258

Of course. But then again, infinite. There is no end. There is no lack of combinations. I'm not saying there is an equal, better or worse form of life somewhere out there but it seems in a universe full of infinite possibilities the only forms of life exist here seems wrong. I think the whole god thing is an earth thing, and if it isn't and it exists out there, its an alien thing. Not saying I don't think he exists, I know he or least something does. We just don't know what or who. I see way too much proof that we don't have a frigging clue whats going on. I lean towards the science of things. My biggest question is how millions of years can go by, and some species of humans can be separated by a million or so years, have little difference in tools, and yet not take another million years to discover language, or math, or science. We go from saying ugh ugh, living in caves, and suddenly modern man appears out of nowhere and 60,000 years later we're waving from the fucking moon. Shit doesn't add up. I think the sponge rubber biscuit that acts as the spring for the horn ring has decayed to the point that the horn ring grounds out due to gravity alone. Will endeavor to fix that.

Just arguments that cancel each other out. 1 example- Oh we'll never travel into space. Ok then, why is the universe 15 billion light years across? Well, you see god wants us to see his majesty. Really? You just told me we'll never travel into space, he could have made "his majesty" 5 light years across and we wouldn't know any better. No answer huh? We'll he wanted to go big. For who? Not us obviously, we'll never see it. Are we talking some galactic Johhny appleseed cruising around seeding space for the last 15 billion years creating stars, and the 6000+ exo planets science has found? Why? Don't give me the majesty shit, because we could have the same view 5 light years away, or 10. Why make other planets that we'll never see? Oh thats right, planet formation is a by product of stellar formation. Turns out all stars seem to have them. And we are the only lucky ones?? Think of all the things that had to happen - and in many cases not happen - for us to be here, on this planet, right now. And by us I mean a human race with consciousness, imagination and will. Just to get this far in our "evolution". So even if we only think about "somewhere, anywhere", a more advanced race wouldn't just have to exist - they would have to have "gotten there" and made it. Not only without getting destroyed, but without destroying themselves. That's a lot.

I was watching vids on pizza dough recipes. I want to try making that. Mrs B has a kitchenaid bowl lift mixer that I'm not sure she ever used. I might have to take it for a spin. lol

Haha, good luck with the pizza dough, Bers. I haven't ever made it using a mixer. Just more stuff to wash. But I'm not much of a baker anyway.

Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at February 21, 2026 03:27 AM (snZF9) Just fyi the bowl lift is brutal for dough. Just a terrible machine for it. I have made a lot of bread in a lot of different ways and had to get rid of the one I bought. That said for pizza dough it would probably be passable. Read up on how big a batch to make because it does small and large batches better than medium ones. Very low bar though. Posted by: ... at February 21, 2026 03:34 AM (E0p3T) 331
...and to think, I used to work in a freaking bakery-style restaurant!
I have a really good cinnamon roll recipe, but need to cut it down to 1/9th for home use... raises twice... PITA! Posted by: JQ at February 21, 2026 03:35 AM (rdVOm) 332

So the word on the street is that Eric Swalwell doesn’t live in CA and is committing fraud by claiming an apartment he doesn’t live in… I thinks Eric needs to prove he actually lives here... who gets hotel rooms when you have a residence? Swalwell is running for Cal governor. Posted by: 13times at February 21, 2026 03:39 AM (YQOnX) Posted by: JQ at February 21, 2026 03:44 AM (rdVOm) 334
