For me, I choose 3 Navy Seals and Templars. I stood near the Gates of Vienna and shook my fist in the general direction of Mecca.
It made me feel good. I am not super fond of Vienna for some reason vs other cities like Salzburg in Austria. I passed a lesbian bar that had a handmade sign: "No bigots, rednecks, homophobes allowed." I wanted to pop in and say, "I'm all 3, what are you going to do about it!"
Mostly I took photos of all words ending in "farht" in Vienna. We did some touristy stuff, too, like Marie Antoinette's childhood "home" aka castle. And my men, who can't whisper to save their lives, were commenting that "no wonder Germany won, look at all these small European men!" They were tiny also in France and Belgium on different trips. And they think I'm the one to keep an eye on in public.

My grunts would be the 500 Legionaires because of their equipment (shield walls etc.) And, their sheer numbers. Their exceptional training coincides well with the Mongol's flexibility. Provided a Legionaire respects the talents of their Mongol Seargants, and vice versa...I don't see any other combination making a dent.

Teresa, you could spend two days just wandering through the subterranean shopping below The Venetian, Caeser's, all those places, and watching the crazy/corny living Caeser's Fountain and watching the gondolas. That's what I always used to do when I hauled my oldster relatives to Vegas. I don't get why oh-wuld people love gambling so much, but they do. I couldn't care less, so I went window shopping while they threw away their quarters and dollars.
I saw an INCREDIBLE multi-color 5-foot square silk scarf in a shop there once that was $500 and the guy offered to give it to me for $100 and I had to turn him down. I was that broke!

How supplied are the Navy Seals? Unlimited, like a video game? And what are they supplied with? Small weapons with limited ammo and they run out, get overrun. But with some good explosives and whatnot, anything would be any unfair fight for the Seals. The shock and awe of their weaponry and longer reach would help stop from being overrun. Of the other 8 in that meme, think hand grenades being tossed at them like we tossed candy to starving German kids after WWII.

That would take out a rank or two better than any grapeshot, which would also shock many of the other 8.

We have reservations at several restaurants and shows (Barry Manilow show was cancelled 😭, but we are going to see Cirque du Soleil's "O" instead.
The highs are only going to be around 60° the entire time we are there, so no pools. We don't gamble, but if I can find a "vintage" one-armed bandit, I might take a picture with one 😊
We are also going to take a helicopter tour over Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, as well as getting on the Skywalk. That should be lots of fun!

Leaning towards Vikings / Samarai / Templars to build a defensive wall with the enemies bodies while SEALS take out the redcoats and Prussians. Once they are gone I can pop up and take out everyone left with a chain gun (it didn't say what I can have)... but a bunch of fougasse would be more in line with my old MOS.

I get your point about the Prussians and their firearms, but they would be slow to reload. I like the Mongols for their mobility on horseback and historical record against numerically superior unmounted enemies.
A big question is how would ancient warriors who have never encountered firearms react when they start getting cut down at long range. Do they run away in a panic, or stay in formation and try to overwhelm by mass of numbers?

We have also enlisted the services of a young lady who does what she calls an "Instagram" tour where she will drive us around during daylight hours and take pictures of us at all of the kitschy tourist spots, then put them all in one place for us to look at later.
I keep telling Mr. TiFW that he is lucky to have me - I am a GREAT "travel agent" for our family! I do lots of research ahead of time, arrange all of the experiences before we leave home, and all they have to do is show up for the fun.
I have already sent him all of the info for each day's planned activities, and he should have it on his calendar. We even have our airline meals lined up (Bucket List, so First Class airfare)! I have lined up transport from the airport to the hotel (both ways), and Uber rides to get to and from the helicopter tour. Coming from Texas, arranging rides to and from places is something new for me, but I didn't want to rent a car, so....
So far, this is the BIG item on my Year #2 Bucket List. We have some smaller things planned, but this is the premier experience (so far 😂

This happened because we were smoking cigs and one girl threw one out the window. It came back in & burned up the entire backseat during the movie (you could see to the back of the trunk driving home). We were 15yrs old and this friend wanted to "run away to NOLA." I thought, oh, hail no! and refused.
She drove up to her house and got her father who came out cussing and called us jackasses. Well, I was not used to such language and called my parents to come get me from that slumber party. I knew I would not get in trouble! Not my problem! Same attitude as the kid who wrecked his father's car.
Her father threw the car seat springs on the front porch for some reason. Her older brother came home later to find it smoldering on the porch of century old wooden farmhouse. He threw it out in the yard, not knowing what on earth had transpired.
We also caught a bale of hay on fire, smoking cigs on the roof of her father's wood shop. The same older brother put that fire out as well.
None of this was my fault.

Well, if history is any indication, they'd feign retreat, and then send stealth kill teams while the main grouping whooped up as much noise as they could just over the horizon. If that didn't work, they'd use kharash (human shields of captured enemy) to advance. Or, maybe just hit and run horse raids at night. My mother never went that far. Her preferred ciggies were Pall Malls for many years, until she could no longer afford them. They were right in a drawer in the kitchen and I could have filched one at almost any time after I was around twelve, but never had the desire. That's even more odd when you consider two of my literary heroes were James Bond and Ellery Queen, both big cigarette smokers.

Well, I wanted to see The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere, and it's going away in March, so that was the start of the trip planning. Then I saw a lot of other shows that I was interested in, and all of them were occurring around the same time, so things just fell into place.
Last year (Bucket List Year #1), I think everything we did - with the exception of visiting the grandkids - was "local". The big ticket item last year was the party we threw for our 45th Anniversary. We went all out for that one, and everyone keeps telling us how much fun it was!
This year, we will be doing more traveling a little farther from home. Since we didn't know if I would still be here a year after my initial diagnosis, everything this year is gravy. We're gonna keep planning things and hoping that my body will cooperate 😊💕

Both parents smoked and we lived in Washington State, so it rained all the friggin' time. Windows up. I'd ask them to open the little vent windows and that helped. But eventually I'd roll down the back window just enough to stick my nose out. Hated cigarettes.

Eventually "some guys" (never my father, by the way,he said) got a "wire brush" and threw this guy in the showers and never had to march again due to him.
He also said that they all had a plan to kill the drill instructor if they made it out of the war alive. I can't picture my father in boot camp for the Marines nor a murderer, but he said it was true. They wanted to kill him, and for this reason they'd move drill instructors from one coast to the other.
He was a SGT in the South Pacific islands for 30mo. He only told us the funny stuff, mostly. As an adult told me a story that shook him. On an island with lots of caves he & a buddy would go and get Jap stuff to take home. They walked into one cave & his friend got shot between the eyes and my father brought his body back to camp. He was in his 70's when he told me this, quietly, like he'd still get in trouble.
Apparently he did not & still came home with stuff he collected. A great and funny man.

Related, the first direct order I had to give as a new !lieutenant was to a kid from North Carolina who thought taking a shower was optional. He'd been there about two weeks and the platoon sergeant came to me and said fix it, or this guy was going to get a "GI shower." What your dad was describing.
I fixed it.

Forked River diner on Rt 9 north. Little greasy spoon truck stop that sat next to a small marina. Pete and Fran were the owners. She ruled the front of the house, while Pete anchored the kitchen. Plate-sized pancakes, side of bacon was the full pound. Lunch and early dinner featured whatever came in from the boats. Mostly fluke and bluefish.
Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, whenever you glimpsed Pete through the swinging door as Fran walked in an order, he had what appeared to me to be the exact same cigar, burned down to just about two inches from his teeth. The year they retired to Kentucky, going out for breakfast became..less..

He was the greatest man I ever knew other than my husband, who is much like him in behavior (not looks, I ain't no Oedipal study). They liked each other meeting for the first time, 4 days before our wedding when we flew in. They bonded over mocking me.
Daddy was a combo of Southern gentleman, who never cussed in front of me and stood when a woman walked into a room. Loved babies and children. Entrepreneurial with career and farm/garden inventions. Joyful in having fun with us: go-cart, treehouse, boat, teaching us sports, etc. Generous for everyone but himself. Very intelligent. A hysterically funny man who loved his only daughter (I look like a female version of him).
Incredibly thankful to be his daughter. I could get away with murder with him. He became my hero when he had an accident & an arm amputation 3 days after my turning 16yrs. The farm was a hobby for him and that hay baler got him. I grew up that day.Stayed with him til the chopper came and held his hand. He never complained & adapted with humor.
Great man.

Walmart and other groceries here used to have their own version of Triscuits, with a bit more in the box and a little lower price. Except for Aldi, they've vanished. I guess I was the only one who liked 'em. (And they're getting thin on the ground at Aldi, too.)

What I love about Triscuits is you can make snacks/canapes and warm them in a microwave with no significant damage to the Triscuit. Haven't found too many crackers that can withstand a microwave.
I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

My wife quit smoking six or eight years, with the help of a prescription medication. I don't remember the name of it, your doctor should know what it is. No side effects, it just turned off her urge to smoke. No patches, no nicotine pills, just the prescription. She had tried to quit smoking on her own many times over the years, and always started up again. This stuff worked. She says she has no cravings, no urge to smoke, even when around people smoking.
If you want to stop, you should look into it, it really works. I don't go around preaching about smoking, or telling other people how to live their lives, it's your business, but if you've made the decision to stop, maybe this stuff can help. It really did for my wife. Good luck.

No. She took it for a few weeks, maybe two months, then stopped, and had no remaining urge to smoke. That's how it's intended to work, you take it for a while and it "fixes" the tobacco addiction, then you stop. She could smoke while taking it, if she wanted to, but after the first few days, had no desire to smoke. It was really amazing how well it worked, and how she has never had an urge to start up again.
I've never smoked, other than the occasional cigar, but I know how hard it is to stop. Keith Richards, a man who knows a thing or two about addiction, said stopping smoking was harder than kicking heroin.

LOL, probably. I don't trust Rx meds as much as I did before. (Gee, wonder what happened?) So, trying it without Rx for now.
Patches were horribly expensive until they could be "generic"-- it was almost as costly as smoking back then, so why bother?
I feel better already. Simply not clogging my lungs all day, every day, with smoke-- has really helped. I'm not gasping for breath at the top of the stairs!
Not running any marathons, but hey I'll take *this* over how it was just a week ago! It can only get better.

Our cheap-ass hotel was next to the base of one of the three bases of the the Stratosphere Tower. They had made a mistake on pouring the concrete and after going up about 300 feet, decided to make a cut and re-pour the concrete at a different angle from about 50 feet up. I will never ever ever go up to the top of the Stratosphere Tower based on seeing that. GLTA that do.

Yep, Bers, I worry about the side effects of some of these things. I just got switched off a bone strengthener that I have been on for thirty years. I had my first injection of the replacement drug on Wednesday and I only need to get it every six months. The old drug contributed to gout and kidney stones and kidney disease, all of which I am familiar with. We'll see how it goes.

I stopped. I stopped by realizing I wasn't 20 or 30 or 40 anymore. I just decided that if I go, I don't want it to be a sudden heart issue like stroke or attack that wouldn't have occurred at that moment if I just didn't smoke that pack a day of cigarettes.
The long term stuff is up to everyone to figure out for themselves. But if you don't want a "today" mistake to take you out *today*, just stop doing it. I did it.

He'd laugh. No, I saw the damage from a distance. Shredded. Amputation at the hospial. I did not cry til the chopper took off from the pasture. A MASH type. I simply prayed for him to live. Never lost consciousness because his arteries were completely severed and vasospasmed. Otherwise he would have died in minutes.
In ICU for 3 days and we got to see him in his room. I was damned determined not to cry in front of him and I am sure he was grateful, because my brother and everyone else were weeping.I treated him as if it was not a big deal, & it wasn't because he lived.
His first obstacle was tying his shoes before church, and asked me to tie them the first Sunday after 3wks in the hospital. He was irritated.
Bought loafers the next day and this is how he met any challenge. Took us deep sea fishing six weeks later as he'd already chartered the boat. Nothing stopped him and he had no time for a prosthesis.

Thanks, Jack. He was. Always fun with a twinkle in his eye, and he taught me all I needed to ever know by example. Let nothing stop you was the clear message to me as a teen after this. I haven't and he did not father a girl to be a wimp or to settle for anyone who would not love me several years later.
His DNA is strong from me, to one son, to our first insane granddaughter. Not just in looks but insanity.
I asked him, decades later, why he never met any of he very rare guys who took me to dances in HS. He laughed and said he knew I could take care of myself.
So to meet the only guy, my college bf, 4dys before our marriage tells you he trusted my judgement. Or he just did not feel like flying out West to grill him.
It's amazing to think about now, but he loved my guy right away (had pity for him and actually told him that first night:"You realize you are getting the short end of the stick" in marrying me).
Thanks, Daddy! He said me moving over 1000 miles away to meet him in college made it all worth it. He adored our sons who loved him right back as he was so much fun.

I've migrated most of the data. It's an odd, intermittent problem with a part of the screen. I'll give T-Mobile a try. The old one's from TMobile, but the new one is from Amazon, so we'll see what help TM is. Thank you
