Obama Architecht David Axelrod: Confound These Republicans For Obamacare's Prices Skyrocketing and Them Refusing to Further Subsidize the Failing Program

axelrodaskswhodrovethishotdogcar.jpg

Joel Pollak
@joelpollak

5h

Axelrod knew at the time they were imposing a flawed system on the American people, over the objections of the people. He and Obama wanted to make it politically very tough to change or to remove, so it would either have to be expanded or lead to single-payer socialized medicine.

Hearing Obama administration alums talk about out of control health insurance costs is like listening to O.J. talking about the real killers.

This isn't directly related to Obamacare, but it's close enough to say it's related.

NIH employees were forced to write a loyalty oath to DEI principles.

Jan Jekielek
@JanJekielek

"Every single NIH employee had to write... a loyalty oath to DEI principles."

Dr. Jay Bhattacharya reveals that the woke ideology infected science over the past 20 years.

"None of it actually translated over to better health for anybody."

It's worse than we think.

"Over the last 15-20 years, the NIH incorporated into its agenda things I can only characterize as political agendas rather than scientific agendas."

"Probably the most prominent example of this is DEI."

"If you're a researcher outside the NIH, the ticket to getting extra, relatively easy funds was to promise to do DEI research."

"Much of that research had no real scientific basis at all" and did not translate into better health outcomes for minorities or anyone else.

And here's what worse:

"At the end of the year, the NIH would often have some money left over."

"The NIH program officers would go to the people who were doing these projects... and say, 'look, we have some money left over, if you propose a diversity supplement,'--meaning essentially some DEI add-on that wasn't actually good science--'then you can get access to extra money for your research.'"

"It was basically wasting taxpayer money that had no chance of improving the health of anybody."

"We've gotten rid of all that."

29 The ACA became really popular because of the covid subsidies. They capped the growth in premiums for several years. So while inflation was hitting everywhere, it didn't hit the people "paying" for ACA coverage at all in their health insurance costs.

Denying that fake reality by ending the subsidies is something like an extinction level event for the program.

It's just wildly expensive and doesn't give any real value anymore.

Democrats will harp about how it's the GOP's fault, but ultimately, it's going to end up rebounding against Democrats since everyone knows that it's Obamacare to the point where Democrats have fully embraced the term for more than a decade.

"We should give even more power to government" after the ACA, Iraq, and the fraud discovered in the last year from government programs probably won't play all that well to the general population.

I'm firmly convinced that there is a group of maybe as few as a couple of hundred people who believe they could run the entire planet IF they could only do away with the sovereignty of nations and states. The only way to do away with sovereignty is to remove all forms of descent and opposition. Beating the planet into submission is thus the goal. The couple of hundred people want wealth that is beyond belief and all avarice and plan to use the rest of us as worker bees and worker ants.

Yea, that totally happened. Totally. A business owner was planning on expanding, but that Totally Real Plan was fucked in the ass by higher premiums. Sure it was.

Btw small businesses get significant tax and other credits for using ACA. A business using ACA is not in the same position as an individual. This story is total bullshit.

47 At one point the use of Antimony was forbidden by some medical schools, and students were required to take oaths to never employ it. Other schools encouraged its use as an emetic, purgative and to reduce fevers. It was also quite toxic, like other elements in the Materia Medica of the day, like Arsenic and Mercury.

DEI, however, has no actual use in the real world. Besides rejecting "white privilege" (which is a fancy way Progressives get to call someone N*gger and feel good about themselves)

Qualified.

Posted by: Sponge - F*ck Cancer at February 12, 2026 03:40 PM (Zz0t1)

58 Faced with untenable medical costs, Obamacare addressed the cost problem in two ways:
1. Force more private money into the system (the individual mandate)
2. Force more public money into the system (the subsidies)

This is to be expected. Government can only provide an operational environment for problem-solving or throw money at problems. Since the environment that was not conducive to cost control was also conducive to wealth and power acquisition in government and industry, it did what it always does. This, of course, caused price to continue to rise.

The goal, I suspect, was to break the system to the point that the problem resolves to two possible choices: radical private reform or nationalization. The goal, if so, is obviously nationalization.

And the bitch of it is that it's working so well, and it doesn't matter what Trump does. If he cuts off the subsidies, people will clamor louder for relief because of the catastrophic costs and its cannibalism of the wider economy. If he doesn't, it continues to destroy the federal budget and cannibalize the wider economy.

The real question is "can Trump achieve radical reform that isn't nationalization?"

I am not optimistic.

These are the same thing, for all intents and purposes.

With enough expansion, more and more of the total bill is footed by taxpayers, so rationing is imposed to greater and greater degrees to keep it from destroying the overall fiscal and economic health of the country.

85 Sticker shock: 85,000 Pennsylvanians drop Obamacare health insurance in 2026. Roughly 1-in-6 Pennsylvania Obamacare plan enrollees dropped health coverage for 2026 due to “unprecedented cost increases,” the state’s online health insurance marketplace reported Monday.

A better headline would read "drastically increased premiums for the Affordable Care Act makes the plans unaffordable for 85,000 recipients". Or maybe "Heartless Republicans hate non billionaire Americans and want them to die"

Caused by Republicans blocking all legislation regarding healthcare. And enabling legislation that instead sends all of that money to the rich. Those immigrant concentration camps aren't going to build themselves.

everyone pays the price because they still use Emergency Rooms and other types of care. The costs get shifted towards people with employer benefits thus increasing 2027 insurance premiums.

This question was settled permanently for me when I read (somewhere) that violence and chaos ARE the goal, not mere characteristics of the revolution or unfortunate phases on the way to utopia.

The left simply glories in chaos, spectacular collapse, bloodshed, beatings, screaming, destruction. That's the benefit for them. It's not like anyone is trying to get rich. They just want to satisfy their blood-lust and revel in their orgy of chaos.

100 "When you reach a certain age, you should just be 'made comfortable' as you've outlived your usefulness and aren't worth the money for care."

Keep in mind healthcare costs increase dramatically near end of life.

If healthcare was each individual's responsibility people in these end of life states can decide how much they want to spend on healthcare and how much they want to leave for their kids. Their choice.

But when government takes over this role it has a very perverse incentive. Dollars spent on people in their last year or two or not going to benefit the pols and bureaucrats determining how to spend these dollars - money spend on grifting or even other legitimate expenses do. So why wouldn't they just tell older people to take the pain pills and die?

The core motivation of all corrupt people is to remove any obstacle that prevents them from doing anything they want to do. It's why they accrue power. It's why they accrue money. Everything is in service of allowing them total freedom from manmade consequences.

Western ideals constrain man from many evil acts, so it must go.

Probably about right. 20-30. By the late 90s, the humanities and law had been fully destroyed and the destruction of university administration was right behind it.

By the mid 90s, the communists (in the form, mostly, of Critical Theory) had finished digesting the humanities and were swallowing the last morsels of law and enjoying the aperitif of university administration. Its hunger unabated, it turned its slavering maw to the sciences.

It took time to digest the sciences and the job wasn't done until the teens (some would argue that it's still not quite done), but it was well underway by the mid aughts. There was - and still remains - a fair amount of legacy (middle-aged and old people who still remember and practice the old ways) to overcome, but most of that is in industry, not government.

No, but it will come to an end for several million people, one way or another.

The medical cost problem *will* be solved, one way or another. It will be because it must be. It is killing the economy and destroying government finances.

There will be either radical reform that collapses costs and leads to significant unemployment and bankruptcy in the medical industry, or there will be nationalization that reduces costs through rationing but nonetheless causes significant unemployment and bankruptcy in the medical industry, just on a slightly longer timescale and with a fair amount less transparency.

My bet, for the last decade, has been on nationalization. Not because it's a good thing, but because it will be the easiest approach for government - even for those in government who don't want it.

Someone will fill the niche, of course. My bet would be on Korea or Thailand or Mexico. The already-extant private practices there will continue to expand, and medical tourism will grow. If you're rich enough, you'll travel and pay people equipped to cater to you, and pay whatever bribes are demanded to those who enable that catering. If you're not, you will die.

164 Four seasons, something similar happened with my dad last Spring. We got to the ER at around 8am, only one other person waiting, brought to a room within 5 minutes. Then we sat. And waited. Waited as the ER filled up, waited as they helped everyone around us. A nurse would pop in and check stats, but nothing that moved things forward. I had to go home to check on my dog, then my mom asked for him to be discharged around 7pm so that she could take him to another ER. They were pissed off, gave her a hard time, but — that’s when a doctor finally came in and they started arranging him to be moved to the hospital, specifically the floor for lung issues (why we were there).

It was obvious that an old, white man ranked behind all others in the ‘heart of the city’ ER IYKWIMAITYD.

=====

From the graph I saw, using $900 as an example, the overall cost would have been $1800 last year, $1700 the year before, and $1600 the year before.

Overall premium prices have been growing very vast for more than a decade, even fast in the last 8 years or so because of how the ACA was structured to go into effect.

But yes, since COVID, that premium would have only cost the individual recipient $100. All while the subsidies hid not just the inflated price but the massive cost increases going on.

As many have noted, the work of Doge (and particularly the defunding of USAID) was accompanied by a massive drop in Democrat donations. I think that David Strom was being sarcastic in Hot Air today when he said that "it shocks [him] like you couldn't believe," ( https://tinyurl.com/4xsdme56 ) but I actually did not see it coming. I underestimated the amount of corruption by an order of magnitude, and so I underestimated the amount being logrolled back to the Democrat party by an even greater degree.

If there's just 5-10% percent corruption, then a bunch of little crooks are just juicing their incomes and spending it on themselves; greedy bastards are not going to feel like they have anything left to give. If there's 40-80% percent corruption, then they're raking in so much dough that even tithing 10% back to their patrons would leave them with generational wealth. So when I thought it was the former, my estimate of the amount of Democrat donations that depended on corruption was off by even more.

230 Disruptive, aggressive, or manipulative behavior can spread via social learning, fear, and lowered norms.

One toxic or dominant person can degrade an entire team or family.

This is driven by behavior and personality traits, not by intellectual disability (“mental deficiency”. People with intellectual disabilities are far more often on the receiving end of negative group dynamics than the instigators.

These individuals can:

Monopolize conversations
Create fear
Lower psychological safety
Cause others to become more submissive, cynical, or imitative

Studies on toxic leadership and “bad apples” confirm this pattern in workplaces, sports teams, and families.

233 Prosecute the cunting mother too. I think this kid was fucked in the head. Like seriously mentally ill to the point where he barely knew what planet he was on. I think it was the mother jacked him up on trans drugs and propaganda. She basically created a ticking time bomb and sent it out into the world. This kid should have been committed to a looney bin.

234 Disruptive, aggressive, or manipulative behavior can spread via social learning, fear, and lowered norms.

One toxic or dominant person can degrade an entire team or family.

This is driven by behavior and personality traits, not by intellectual disability (“mental deficiency”. People with intellectual disabilities are far more often on the receiving end of negative group dynamics than the instigators.

235 187. The ill child isn't covered through CHIP, etc?

In the United States, all children are legally entitled to receive necessary medical care for cancer, regardless of a family's ability to pay, insurance status, or the complexity of the diagnosis. Programs like Medicaid and CHIP cover 1 in 3 children with cancer, while hospitals

Further, (AI Overview) in 2025 and 2026, major initiatives to erase medical debt shifted from federal, industry-led efforts to state-led programs. While large-scale debt purchases by groups like Undue Medical Debt (formerly RIP Medical Debt) continued, federal protections against medical debt on credit reports were reversed in 2025, moving the battle to state legislatures.

States like Arizona and localities such as Los Angeles County (really, much of the country) have used federal Covid relief funds to pay off hundreds of millions in resident medical debt.

The primary model remains buying debt for pennies on the dollar, but it is now largely supported by a mix of philanthropy and state-level government investment rather than a unified national policy.

256 That year, Taylor Swift partnered with Papa John's for a nationwide contest built around a simple concept: whichever school received the most online votes would win a live concert performance. The promotion was designed to energize fans, encourage school spirit, and generate social media engagement. Students across the country quickly began sharing links, campaigning for votes, and mobilizing classmates, parents, and local communities.

Initially, everything unfolded as planned. Schools created hashtags, students posted daily reminders, and the contest reflected the kind of enthusiastic online participation brands hope for when launching viral campaigns. However, as the voting gained traction, internet forums and social platforms began to take notice—and not all participation remained aligned with the original spirit of the competition.

A coordinated online push by trolls redirected the momentum toward the Horace Mann School for the Deaf. Through organized voting efforts, the school surged to the top of the leaderboard. The sudden shift caught many observers off guard and transformed what had been a lighthearted promotion into a national talking point.

Posted by: rickb223 at February 12, 2026 04:23 PM (lnk1R)

257 The unexpected outcome sparked a wave of debate. Some questioned whether the coordinated voting was intended as a prank, an attempt to expose weaknesses in online voting systems, or a deliberate effort to put organizers in an awkward position. Others focused on the optics of the situation—wondering how a live concert, centered on sound and performance, would translate at a school serving deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
