Oh please. He was admitted on a 90 day visitor's visa 20 years ago and never left. He was offered instant deportation to Ireland last year and declined so he’s awaiting his case in a detention center. His choice. Kafka? You undermine your own argument with such hyperbole.

The only argument in favor of keeping this guy around is that he 1, applied for a Green Card and is here provisionally while his case is considered and 2, he got married to a US citizen.

But here's the thing: He only took those two steps when he was about to be deported.

The left, and Nick Gillespie, are claiming "he has a valid work permit."

But that was only issued on the basis of his sudden application for a green card.

Which he only applied for in 2025, when Trump was about to deport him.

What did he do for the 20 years prior as far as work or money?

Did he work illegally using someone else's social security number? Did he just sit on welfare for 20 years?

Did he, perhaps, engage in an actual criminal trade?

But we have to pretend his entire record began exactly when he took two desperate, last minute steps to confabulate a fraudulent set of facts to avoid deportation.

Remember yesterday, I mentioned the Fifth Circuit approving Trump's new policy of detailing deportable aliens until they exhaust their last legal challenge? But offering to let them out of detention if they agree to finally get on a plane and GTFO?

Well, this poor poor man has the same standing offer.

Supposedly, his ICE detention is an "absolute hell" -- but one he voluntarily agrees to remain in, instead of JUST GOING BACK TO HIS HOME COUNTRY.

There is a visa process for marrying an American citizen by a non-citizen.

You have to go back to your home country and apply for a spousal visa. It's shall issue, and the administration just grants it once the marriage is proven. If the marriage is real, the actual process is fairly immaterial outside of the going back home for a couple of months thing.

It's not automatically given. In fact, not getting it doesn't shield you from deportation.

And also a sort of probation, like I think they have to stay married for 2 years after the visa. Or maybe longer, IDK.
I also think you grant them the right to randomly show up at your home to prove the marriage.

People should consider it more like a war, deporting particular assholes may be a battle lost time to time but the deportations move on and the precedents are being created at the appellate level to expedite the removals beyond resistance judges' abilities to stop it.

Just heard him interviewed on "Clay and Buck" and he sure sounded resolute, charismatic, and fired up. Maybe he took some acting lessons. Every question, he was right on it, and provided examples. He was so impressive in that interview that Clay actually commented on it and confirmed for the audience they didn't prep the interview. IMO it's because alcohol is mostly a social substance unless you have a bad relationship with it...meaning it used to be that young people would go out to bars and have a few and interact with each other.

Social media and dating apps ruined that, so now all the kids sit around smoking grass by themselves because weed makes you want to become your couch while eating funyuns.

Someone upthread posited that he was likely wanted in Ireland for crimes against the state of some sort. Anecdotal, but I was coming back from Galway to Dublin and a bloke (it seems the best term for him) jumped on the train at one of the multitude of stops along the way. When we arrived in Dublin, he asked me to have a pint with him. After a few minutes of chatting, he asked if I would marry him so he could go to the US, since he had "issues" in the Isles. I excused myself to go to the restroom and grabbed a taxi to get the heck out of there. Soooo, based on that, and visa work, my guess is the detained Irish fellow is wanted in two or more countries and gave some gal a chunk of cash to marry him tout de suite.

About the same number that dropped watching the official halftime show watched the alternate halftime show. they should hire Nicki Minaj for the one next year!

I finally watched the BunBun halftime show. If it has been a part of the upcoming LA games, as one of many sketches showing the unique fabric of American culture, and they cleaned up the lyrics, I might have adored it. But it was otherwise for an Americana event, very exclusionary.

I saw a comment from someone that said hey I'm Puerto Rican, and even I can't understand him! His voice is very slurry on a good day.

The opening of the halftime show did make me want coco frio! Suck it from a straw right from the coconut. Yum.

They had a bunch of Latinos dressed as sugar cane. Parts of PR grow sugar which is back breaking labor. Somehow I think If the same scene had been done for a southern black rapper, dress black people up as props in cotton plants, it would not have gone as well.
