Howdy Hordelings! Welcome to the Sunday ONT. What is the "CL" thing next to my name tonight? Well, as fate would have it, in addition to that football contest being held in NorCal tonight - the one that uses Roman Numerals in it's name - tonight happens to be a bit of a milestone for me. My 150th solo-hosted ONT. So I'll adopt Roman Numerals also! This is "Doof ONT CL"!

Nicki Minaj Fans Say They’re Switching to Republican Party

Nicki Minaj fans, known as “The Barbz,” are sharing their intentions online to switch to the Republican Party, following Minaj’s public shift to the right and alignment with the Trump administration.
“Today is the day I switch to republican,” one Minaj fan wrote on X in a post viewed over 300,000 times, as Minaj’s pivot encourages her fans to follow suit.

In November, Minaj appeared at the United Nations in support of the Trump administration to speak on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. In December, she was interviewed by Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk and the chairwoman of Turning Point USA, the conservative youth organization.
Then, after sharing increasingly supportive social media posts of conservative politics and the Trump administration, Minaj met with Trump and described herself as “probably the president’s number one fan."

Why are they called "Barbz"? Here's what Grok says

"Barbz" (often stylized as The Barbz) is the official name for the dedicated fanbase of rapper, singer, and cultural icon Nicki Minaj.
Origin of the Name
The term comes from Nicki Minaj's famous alter-ego and persona: The Harajuku Barbie (or simply "Barbie").
In the late 2000s and early 2010s, Nicki heavily embraced a hyper-feminine, colorful, doll-like aesthetic inspired by Harajuku fashion and Barbie dolls.

She began calling her fans "Harajuku Barbies" or "Barbies," which eventually got shortened to "Barbz" (with a "z" for flair, fitting her playful style).
What started mainly for her female fans expanded to include her entire fanbase.
There are also sub-terms like:

3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold dies at 47

Brad Arnold, the lead singer of 3 Doors Down, has died, the band confirmed in a Facebook post on Saturday. He was 47.
The Grammy-nominated rocker announced in May he had been diagnosed with cancer.
"As a founding member, vocalist, and original drummer of 3 Doors Down, Brad helped redefine mainstream rock music, blending post-grunge accessibility with emotionally direct songwriting and lyrical themes that resonated with everyday listeners," the post reads. "Brad's songwriting became a cultural touchstone for a generation, producing some of the most enduring hits of the 2000s, including the band's breakout hit, 'Kryptonite,' which he wrote in his math class when he was just 15 years old."

3 Doors Down was one of my favorite bands growing up. But Brad Arnold wasn't just a rockstar.

He was a warrior for Christ.

It's that time of the week - when we turn the ONT over to our good friend Piper for a bit. Here's this week's fashion pr0n.

The moment we’ve all been holding our breath for: my unfiltered thoughts on this year’s Grammy couture. Let’s start with the one that had everybody talking, Chappell Roan in Thierry Mugler. This is not Cher-level iconic, and it sure as heck wasn’t J.Lo’s green Versace moment. The design? Basic dressed up in drag as outrageous. It matched her hair, for the love of Pete. The hemline is doing nothing for her, and frankly, the whole thing only started working when she threw on her cape. Not just because it mercifully hid the nipple-ring-hanging neckline (eye roll), but because it finally gave the dress some texture and depth. Without it? Boring with a side of trying too hard.

Justin Bieber rolled up with Hailey in tow—him in Balenciaga, her in Alaia. If she snagged her dress first, they straight-up fumbled a golden opportunity to channel Gomez and Morticia Addams, shutting down divorce rumors with one killer gothic couple moment. But no, nuance clearly isn’t their love language. They were going for mature adult vibes, I suppose. Justin’s still drowning in clothes three sizes too big, a trend I don’t love. If he’s married to this baggy look, however, at least step up the shoes; his refined little loafers threw the whole balance off. Hailey, though? She served minimalist luxury perfection, the jewelry, sleek hair, flawless fit. It all worked seamlessly.

Lady Gaga brought the drama in black feathers by Matières Fécales. On anybody else, this would’ve been Big Bird’s villain origin story, but Gaga? She somehow made it look almost… restrained. By her standards, she was downright gorgeous. This was elegant chaos in the best way.

Kesha in Atelier Biser—bless her heart. Despite Gaga, this giant feather trend needs to roost somewhere else. The look here is big, shapeless, and gives straight-up Muppet energy.

Billie Eilish showed up in… something by Ellen Hodakova Larsson. It’s a whole lot of no. Made from dead stock that should have stayed dead, the dress has too many sleeves, belts just everywhere, and then socks are thrown into the mayhem. Steampunk Wednesday Addams is an idea that never should have manifested.

Kelsea Ballerini, on the other hand, gave us actual glamour in a stunning gold Etro gown. The fit? Immaculate. The metallic paisley? Unexpectedly elegant. Hair simple and slick so the dress could shine—take notes, Billie. This is how you let one star piece do the talking

We’re all mad at Bad Bunny right now (and this was written before the halftime show, so who even knows). His speech? Dumb as a bag of hammers. He is Puerto Rican, ICE ain’t knocking on his door, calm down. But the look? A surprisingly classic velvet tux from Schiaparelli Couture, the first man to do it. The corseted back had me audibly gasping. I liked early Bad Bunny before the full tilt into crazy town. If this is him circling back to his roots, prayerfully it sticks. Time will tell.

And finally, Heidi Klum in Marina Hoermanseder. The lacquered leather was molded to her like shrink-wrap, giving us the full scenic tour right down to the cheeks. Ma’am. Avant-garde? No, just silly. It looked like she sliced a mannequin in half, slapped some clips on the sides, and called it couture.

Until the next event, never let ‘em catch you in last season’s feathers. Or really in any feathers

Things did not turn out well for that sweet lady - she was VERY involved with the TCU family, including the preschool that Rebecca attended.

They FINALLY exhausted all appeals a couple of months ago, and the man responsible for killing her was sentenced to die by lethal injection in May.

This reminds me of 'kitty litter' cake. Make a basic vanilla cake in an aluminum cheapie pan. Top it with crackers crumbled up. Please keep our family in your thoughts. Our Uncle (Ciampino's sister's husband) has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He's extremely weak and the cancer has spread to other organs. He will not be doing any treatments.

Our Aunt is feeling very lost right now. First she loses her brother and is now losing her husband. Thankfully they live with their daughter and her family in the UK, so she won't be alone.

Their son and his family will be flying to the UK from South Africa at the end of the month to spend as much time with him as possible.

I had a dream last night that the Horde might find amusing. I had finished lunch in a campus cafeteria and for some reason we all had to wait for awhile before we could leave. We were standing near one of the walls of the cafeteria. I was tired, so I had bundled my coat in my arms in such a way that I could relax without dropping it and was leaning against the wall with my eyes closed and sort of napping while standing. When I opened my eyes, Kamala Harris was standing next to me and looking intently at my coat bundle like something was bothering her. I asked if something was wrong and she said, "You're not allowed to have alcohol on campus," like she thought I was hiding something in my coat.

Now that I've typed all that out, I guess it's not that funny. But it's kind of remarkable to be reprimanded by Kamala about alcohol.

437 I actually slept through the Superb Owl. Went with a friend to the flea market in Coolidge. I found a couple of one and two dollar tools and gadgets, and my friend got a real pretty Marlin bolt-action .410 for a good price. The we drove over to Casa Grande, and I filled up the Suburban at 2.36 per gallon. Then we drove to San Tan Flats country bar in Queen Creek, had lunch and a beer, and then back to AJ. Dropped him off, went back to the house, and took a nap.

About 10 years ago I saw a bunch of kids in a plowed field playing football. Grade schoolers, but they had the fundamentals down on blocking and none of them were shy about it. I didn't stop to check out if they went to a passing game.

1990. The Denver Elway's showed up. That's about it. If the Broncos hadn't had Elway as QB, the Browns would have been losing those Super Bowls. IMO, the Browns would have put up a better fight. May have even had won one (maybe beaten the Giants. Maybe) Alas, ole Schottenheimer just could not get past Elway. The Broncos were very beatable except for Elway dragging that mediocre Broncos team across the finish line, except for the Super Bowl (Until later when they discovered defense and the running game). RIP Marty. Again, I'm a Steelers fan. Front row seat in watching that Browns team in the 80s. They were great. It's head scratching to me that they just continually choked in the playoffs.

One of the insane boy scout trips I spoke of was cross country skiing. It was exactly as you described. A shit ton of work for very little distance, and the wax on the skis was the wrong temperature, so the snow was sticking to the bottom in big clumps. It was half skiing and half snow shoe. It....blew...fucking....ass. I told mrs B the story last night as cross country skiing was being shown. She looks at me and says "you did skiing?" I held my hand up to the top of my head in the "up to here with that shit" gesture, and said remember when I said I had the great outdoors up to here by the time I was 16? Yeah, that.

Until relatively recently "liberal" meant something closer to "libertarian" then "socialist".

The modern Japanese LDP gets the liberal part of its name from a party formed in 1945, almost certainly under that older understanding.

Well, one time the "red guitar" was there because they were going to reproduce it as his signature model, so they handed it to me. I played metal on it lol.

My FIL was killed by a cow. Sorta. He brought a calf to his property to bottlefeed because its mother died. As babies are wont to do, the calf got bigger. But she still wanted her bottles, and she would "nudge" Charlie whenever she got hungry, even after she had been weaned.

Paul and his brother told their dad that he needed to take her back to the ranch with the rest of the cows. Paul's brother even predicted that Slobbers was going to knock Charlie over one day.

Sure enough, one day Slobbers nudged Charlie too enthusiastically, and down he went. He hit the ground hard enough that he broke his hip on a slab of concrete.

Had a hip replacement, but developed a bolus that stopped up his digestive system. Three days later, he had a seizure in the hospital and never woke up after that.

If it wasn't for the fact that he died, Charlie would have loved that story. As it was, Slobbers was taken by a neighbor, never to be heard from again.

I used to sit in with them and she was always excited to see me. Guys in the band were great to hang out with. We all a part of the70-80s scene in Athens.

yeah, no use for funk or R&B, but yeah there was some heavier stuff. Judas priest was kicking out albums in the mid 70's, there was Rush, Sabbath, and other good stuff. Foreigner and Boston was ok, Zeppelin, Tull, Bad company, Foghat, early queen. There was definitely a lot of good music. A lot of crap too, but at least there was a complete mixed bag.

Metal is thriving in europe. It started hitting hard in the mid- late 90's and is still going. There are a shit ton of metal bands over there. Many good ones, mostly from Germany, Sweden, Finland, some from norway and denmark, etc. They pretty much continued where we left off and they frigging ran with it. The thing with those bands is every member is usually extremely good at what they do. The drummers are faster, guitar players are faster. Its like metal went special forces. Faster, more powerful, harder hitting. Its pretty much the style I involved myself in for the last 25 years or so.
