33 Odd combo of images. A naked elderly angel (? he has wings, anyway) playing the lyre; four sturdy women dancing under a cloudy sky through which a palomino soars surrounded by impish mini-angels -- one with a hula hoop . . .

46 Wiki-

Overview of the Painting
A Dance to the Music of Time is a painting by Nicolas Poussin, created between 1634 and 1636. It is housed in the Wallace Collection in London. The artwork is an allegory that explores themes of time, human life, and the cyclical nature of existence.

Symbolism and Interpretation

Main Figures
The painting features four central figures representing different stages of human life:
Poverty: Depicted as a male figure at the back.
Labour: A muscular woman next to Poverty.
Riches: Positioned next in the circle.
Pleasure (or Luxury): The front figure, often interpreted as leading to Poverty again.

These figures symbolize the progression and cyclical nature of life, suggesting that pleasure ultimately leads back to poverty.

Additional Elements
Father Time: A winged, naked figure playing a lyre, representing the passage of time.
Apollo: The sun god, driving his chariot across the sky, symbolizes the relentless march of time.
Putti: Small figures holding an hourglass and blowing bubbles, further emphasizing the transience of life.

59 So, the top part is obviously Apollo in his chariot with his golden ring, blazing through the heavens. It's Time, and it's central position in the frame emphasizes that the four figures below are in the middle of theirs. The oldster and the babies are bookends on that point.

Not sure why it's three chicks and one dude though.

108 Story time:
A Super Bowl Ad Accidentally Showed The Horrific Future of America!

Sinclair Lewis famously wrote, “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”

That may be true. But we found out during this weekend’s Super Bowl that when mass surveillance comes to America, it will be to help sad puppy dogs.

In the Amazon Ring ad a poor little beautiful sad doggie goes missing. A little white girl cries. A man sobs uncontrollably. Then we find out the dog can be found using the Ring Cam Mass Surveillance Doggie Rescue™ app. The man with AI hair in the ad says, “One post of the dog’s photo in the Ring app starts outdoor cameras looking for a match. [It] then uses AI to help find the lost dog.”

This is wonderful! You can find your lost dog! …Or maybe instead of a lost dog, you can just type into the search box: “Black man in the neighborhood.” And then every camera in a ten-mile radius will let you watch that black man (or any black man) to make sure he’s not up to something. …Or you could type in: “college girl walking down the street” and then watch her throughout the neighborhood on her entire walk home.

111 And most importantly, it’s unobtrusive! That 20-year-old girl won’t know you’re watching her. There’s no 1910’s flash-bulb camera going off. Or even just 15 years ago, when you wanted to track and take photos of an annoyed young lady, you had to follow her around in your van. And even if you were in the bushes dressed as a large bird or something, those little click-and-wind cameras they sold at Walmart always alerted her to your presence. It was a disaster, even for the most skilled leering creeper.

But now, with Ring Cam Mass Surveillance Fucking Doggie Rescue™, you can watch anyone and everyone anywhere in your neighborhood. Or hell, with a little hacking knowledge, you can probably watch anyone near a Ring cam in the nation.

But what if your missing adorable puppy cute puppy dog has hot-wired a car and skipped town? Have no worries! Amazon’s Ring has signed a deal with Flock Safety, which has deals with police departments across the country. Flock cameras monitor license plates in many cities using their gigantic surveillance network. And luckily for your adorable driving puppy cute puppy doggie, Flock monitors cars whether the driver has done anything wrong or not. (Cont)

112 January jobs report is even better than the headline.

Net job gain was 130k. Great number on its own. But this included federal govt cuts of 34k and state govt cuts of 8k. Which means a net 172k new jobs created in the private sector.

Within that 172k, 5k factory jobs and 33k construction jobs. That means companies are investing in building real things again.

Wages up 3.7% year over year, well ahead of inflation. People are getting real raises.

2026 is shaping up to be a blockbuster year economically speaking.

116 They then share that surveillance with police upon request.

But the nation’s 800,000 police officers have promised they will only use Amazon’s fun and exciting new panopticon for good, not evil.

Just think of the possibilities of the new Ring Cam Mass Surveillance Doggie Rescue System™:
Adorable puppy cute puppy dogs will never go missing again.
Abusive spouses will never be able to abuse a partner in their front yard again.
Murderers will never be able to easily bury a body in the back yard again.
Sexy US postal employees will never go un-ogled again.
Food delivery people will finally be watched as they bend over to place a bag on your front steps.
Annoying neighbors will finally be filmed as they do annoying nefarious things like sit on their porch and eat an apple.
Folks can watch teenagers for fun or profit.
Squirrels.
So, everyone in America needs to do their patriotic duty and attach an Amazon Ring Cam Mass Surveillance Doggie Rescue Device™ to their front door, back door, and hell, living room ceiling, immediately. Otherwise the good people at Amazon Ring Cam will murder your missing dog.
Seriously though, are you noticing a trend?

I posted on the neighborhood thingy on Ring. Two dogs, this color, this size are wandering around in this area. A bunch of responses came in right away saying oh I think that’s my neighbors dogs. Or uh I saw them too, they’re now walking over at this intersection.

And the owner of the dogs ended up getting noticed as well and got her dogs.

195 Poussin really seems to like allegorical themes for his paintings. He has used the old man as an example of time in other works. The circle dance indicates a year/time and the four dancers the seasons. Each figure wears a different color to distinguish them. It's dawn (I assume that is Aurora and Apollo's chariot in the sky), the start of a new day and each day should be celebrated. No idea why one of the figures is male and in shadow or if that has a meaning. It's altogether a positive image of celebrating life.

I enjoy Poussin's landscapes. I wonder if he was an influence on John Constable. They both have a lyrical, poetic/romantic feel.

Saw a thumbnail for a video from a corporate recruiter which said that to ensure success... lie. The more you lie, the more success you will have. Presumably that's because the vetting process goes through several layers of people who know fuck-all about what their company does before it gets to someone (maybe) who can determine if you can do the job for which you're applying.
