Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Grammys, Which Apparently Still Exist, Once Again Descend Into an Sloppy Orgy of Virtue Signalling and Cultural IrrelevanceThe emcee, the failed DEI "comic" Trevor Noah, accused Trump WITHOUT EVIDENCE of having visited Epstein's island -- and Trump says he's suing.
And Trump's fans are about to get more upset. The rumor mill has it that Bad Bunny, in a nod of support to the LGBTQ community and as just another norms-pushing statement, plans to don a dress during the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. TMZ initially reported the "rumor," with a follow-up report saying they couldn't confirm what he's wearing, citing "production sources." At my behest, internet sports book BetOnline.ag created a betting line for "Will Bad Bunny wear a dress during Super Bowl halftime show?" The website has it at -150 (bet $150 to profit $100) he will, and +110 (wager $100 to profit $110) he will not. Here's the rub, though: as the prop bet is "for entertainment purposes only," the max wager is $25. Not enough action for you? You can also bet on the type of dress Bad Bunny will wear, should he defy TMZ. The most probable type of dress is a ball gown (7/4, +175), with a halter dress (3/1) and a shirt dress (4/1) rounding out the favorites. A bodycan and a qipao are both available at 5/1. Long shots are a maxi-dress (6/1) and an A-line (7/1).I saw rumors a couple weeks back that "Bad Bunny" had been told by the NFL not to wear his typical transvestite attire, but I guess he's gonna let his freak flag fly.
Bringing these stories together: While Noah Trevor defames Trump as an Epstein colleague, he for some reason "forgets" that rapper Jay-Z has been named in the Epstein files, as has his wife, the world's most annoying feminist Beyonce. And Jay-Z, for some reason, was given the power to produce the Super Bowl halftime shows, and he hired the transvestite for this year's degradation pageant. Trevor Noah omitted to mention that Jay-Z is accused of having sex with young minors:

++++ So shocking. Such brave. Wanna be brave and shocking in Current Year? Wear a button-down shirt and slacks and put on a straight show of real music made with actual instruments and classical structure with more than a hook, a verse and a half and a chorus. *That* is how you shock the squares. I don't know if that's true any more. Seems to me that most pro sports are aging out, with the younger generations having much less interest. The average age of an NFL fan is 50 years old. The leagues have so far avoided the consequences of an aging (and dying) fan base by finding other sources of revenue -- primarily gambling and raping fans with endless fees and charges. Back when I was a teen in the 80s, radio stations didn'r play 1940s music. Posted by: MAGA_Ken at February 02, 2026 12:10 PM (Vh9CX) ++++ Yes. Power of and. Modern popular music is extremely boring. I have posited before that other than actual songwriting acts (Adele, Taylor Swift, etc.), the music is being written by computers. I think they took 30-40 years' worth of Top 40 and used it to train an AI model back before AI took off, then used that to generate song frameworks for pop acts, with producers plugging in lyrics and tuning it up a bit. The ones that hit went back into the model, and it converged on itself so now it all sounds the same. Whatever the genre or performer, it's all very similar structurally. Hook, verse, chorus, hook, half a verse, hook, chorus, hook, hook, hook, chorus, hook, fade out. It's all the same. Run it through the Twangifier to get "country." Run it through the pitch shifter to get "pop." Change the BPM and run it through the staccato filter to get "rap." Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at February 02, 2026 12:13 PM (MABZ1) 61

84, I was wrong.
But from looking at the surrounding decade+, he could have randomly chosen any year from the 70s to the 90s. Posted by: Formerly Virginian ====== True. He has alluded to some of the reasons why in other posts. It is about economics--the orchestras are expensive and almost always lose money nowadays, then it was smaller mini orchestras, aka the Big Band era, higher wages then led to the smaller band era, and now bands simply do not exist on the top new music lists of streaming services. Legacy bands still sell records or concerts but no new bands are becoming big. The reason is that producer/songwriter combos using a few or no session musicians nowadays, can just use whatever front person for the music that they want. No messy contracts other than a single front person singing from backing tracks that are increasingly AI. With pitch correction and other tech wizardry, the singer no longer even has to be really good, just look good for promo purposes. The next step is AI music entirely including the singer so the songwriter/producer team gets all the money and subcontracts, or not, to record labels or roll their own. I know young people who are trying to become professional musicians and recording artists.
They seem like reasonable people. I think the main thing that separates them from the people at the Grammys is fame. Once you start making money and everyone knows who you are, you get this identity crisis, knowing that you aren’t any more talented or hardworking than the hundreds who tried and failed to get where you are. So you have to believe you’re special, to act like you’re special, to crave attention and controversy. It doesn’t happen to everyone. To me, Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney always seemed to have their sh!t together, even though I’m not a big fan of either’s music. Posted by: Jack Squat Bupkis at February 02, 2026 12:30 PM (jYRYu) 179

Tired of this "nobody's illegal on stolen land" bullshit. Stolen from who, exactly? No enforceable national borders can exist anywhere else ever because some other people might have been through there before? Can't enforce trespassing or home invasion laws either if you're on land that some Indian might have raped and murdered rival tribes on. And don't give me this bullshit about the white man stealing land from the Indians, who in the vast majority of cases A) originally came here from somewhere else over the land bridge, B) were nomadic, and C) didn't "own" land so much as ravage all the resources then move on to another spot that they hadn't denuded of all the game animals. It's a stupid slogan for stupid people who don't know a fucking thing about world history or how functional civilizations work.

>>> Billie Bigass is a no talent hack who sounds like she is falling asleep when singing. Boring ass rot.
Unlike other pop tarts she has actual talent that doesn't need to be auto tuned. I watched a video on her brother-producer creating her song for the Barbie movie. She layered her own vocals without all the extra digital wizardry. It's sad though when genuine gifts get squandered. Also, everyone knows she owes a LOT of her success to the fact her brother is a genius heavyweight of a music producer. He brought so much to her songs. So I did get really annoyed when she won a lot of awards early in her career and was like, see we ladies can win too, screw men! Lady, you owe your brother, a man, for a huge bulk of your success. Maybe be less screechy about the men ruining everything. Posted by: LizLem at February 02, 2026 12:37 PM (gWBY1) 233

Back when I was a teen in the 80s, radio stations didn'r play 1940s music. It's still relevant to teenage girls, but even they tend to listen to a fair amount of older stuff now. The response: Jesús Enrique Rosas - The Body Language Guy @Knesix 4h Classic manipulation attempt by despair-baiting. Or blackpilling, if you will. "It's all one big repulsive club" implies a meaning that every single person mentioned in the files (even if said mention proves they rejected Epstein's invitations) is tainted. This will resonate with the segment of the population who doesn't have agency and attribute their circumstances to the latest conspiracy theory. "You can't vote your way out of this" reinforces that loser baiting. Because it's also vaguepoasting without proposing a solution or option (also engagement bait, so the 'solutions' will be in the deranged replies) Avoid anyone who weaponizes pessimism, especially if they're doing it for attention points. I don't remember the last time I watched an awards show. From photos in the UK DM today it is a freak show. Then they all Ice Out. Like any of them have an original thought or bother to read about ILLEGALS and crime. Because they don't care, being the hollow vessels of satan they are. I can barely look at the tatted freaks. Women, especially, will someday regret turning their arms and bodies into smeared, sagging colors that look like bruising from Coumadin. We used to use Silly Putty during Civil War times to copy the print of the Sunday "funny papers." That's similar for their skin. I admire anyone who does not go this way or have their faces pierced to be cool. While the pig nose septum ring is ick but makes me laugh at the absurdity of being strong women in their peanut sized brains (and the snot issue)...it is the eyebrow piercings that blow what is left of my mind. I know it would bother me and I'd have a perpetual headache. Which could explain a lot of their mentality. I noted evil, satanic, Gaga bleached her eyebrows and looks ick as usual. 433 Also, the audience score has a massive self-selection bias problem. Who's going to go see the movie? People pre-disposed to liking it.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison, searching for twisted thrills with Park Chan-wook at February 02, 2026 01:07 PM (GBKbO) ---- Isn't that true of most movies? The self-selection bias here may be more pronounced than usual because of the political nature, but all movies tend to have this. Who wants to go see a movie we are pre-disposed to hate? (Unless we're a YouTuber looking to hate-watch a video for more clicks.) Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at February 02, 2026 01:10 PM (ESVrU) ======= Yes, the audience score on RT is almost always people just predisposed to seeing it, which tends to give most movies weirdly high scores, especially in early release periods. I read of Cher's senile dementia moment on stage. I guess all of that silicone has finally been absorbed in her cranium and her brain bounces around in her noggin like a bouncy ball.
Pity she did not break out in song and shimmy a bit. But she'd probably fracture a hip. Was her young black boy toy there? See! I get my news, plenty of it unwanted, from headlines and photo scanning. Other than $$$ why would anyone want to bed Cher at this point? I wish we could ask Sonny but he's very dead from hitting a tree skiing too fast. Anyone on skis knows to avoid tree wells. Or if you are not that good to not ski into areas with trees. I guess Chaz has no control of her and vice versa. Poor Chaz (I think his/her/it's name was Chastity, which is wild). Sometimes, like with awards shows, you simply hope for a news black out. Hot take: Jazz sucks. Arrhythmic bullshit for people so stoned they think it's great.
I have spent many hours in jazz clubs in New Orleans and never found anything that I thought was musically "good." There are some very talented musicians in there but holy crap play something good please. Posted by: ballistic ======= Bebop is definitely as you describe but Trad Jazz aka Dixieland jazz is not. Preservation Hall is where Trad jazz is king but there are some jazz clubs around the US still that will have trad jazz on occasion along with universities. And New Orleans, is a percolating city where the trad jazz merged with the blues to become something else which merged with pop, and so on. And trad jazz is related to rag and rag time way back. But the point is that jazz musicians play off each other (as do orchestral musicians with a director intermediating). In jazz, at least, you often never hear the same performance again as each player is going off the others. You get similar arrangements but different performances. AI not so much due to the way it is made. Posted by: whig at February 02, 2026 01:15 PM (2swu2) 461

AI Overview: Gael García Bernal (aka Bad Bunny) also starred as the real-life gay Mexican wrestler Saúl Armendáriz in the 2023 biopic Cassandro. The Amazon Prime Video film documents his rise in the 1990s as a trailblazing exótico wrestler who gained popularity despite facing homophobia in the sport. I haven't seen it, but it's, at best, an argument ad populum, but with the self-selection bias issue it becomes "99% of Trump fans who bought tickets like it." Posted by: TheJamesMadison ======= The 99 percent have skin in the game as they paid admission, critics often do not. A lot of Western civilization's problems stem from people with no skin in the game telling other people what they should and should not do, like and should not like, etc. The classic derivation of this in the social sciences was the masses are asses versus the idea that the masses can form their own preferences and likes by experience even if they cannot verbalize it. I fall in the latter camp. If the masses want to be entertained, then that is fine and good no matter what critics think. Same with sportsball, I find it useless but others do not. Auteurs (mass media, ESPN, etc) expect that the public should follow their lead on cultural tastes as they are the artists presuming to have closely studied such. And they throw a fit when they try to lead and no one is behind them. Posted by: whig at February 02, 2026 01:23 PM (2swu2) 489

Piper...in glancing at photos this morning, I thought Sabrina Carpenter's dress was pretty.
What happened to velvet strapless, form fitting, evening gowns? Or pretty gowns that revealed shape but not flapping tatas? I guess going big, bold and nekkid are what counts now. Or "flaunting." I hate that word. Did Oprah and Gail arrive flaunting (harfing at the thought). I will have to dig around to see if Alison Krauss won for bluegrass, which is all I cared about as she is lovely and still has the best female voice around for anything. I would think she would not bother to go to this freak show. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at February 02, 2026 01:26 PM (WONhk) Processing 0.04, elapsed 0.0405 seconds. |
