Careful out there! Woman Suffers Stroke After Cracking Her Neck to Relieve Tension
A simple stretching of the neck caused a young woman to temporarily lose her vision as well as the ability to speak after suffering a stroke. KayLynne Felthager was driving home from Walmart when she felt a headache coming on and instinctively stretched her neck to the right to relieve some tension. It had become somewhat of a habit to crack her neck after a long day at work, but this time was different. Almost immediately after hearing the crack in her neck, Kaylynne felt a sharp pain in her neck. The pain in Felthager’s neck didn’t feel normal, and the fact that it did not subside over the next several days didn’t exactly feel reassuring, but she only relied on over-the-counter pain medication to deal with it, instead of seeing a doctor. It wasn’t until five days later that things really took a turn for the worse. *** Once at the hospital, doctors performed a CT scan, which revealed that she had suffered a stroke. After talking to medical staff about the pain she felt after stretching her neck in the car a few days prior, KayLynne was told that the innocent neck cracking had caused an artery dissection, which later resulted in a blood clot reaching her brain and causing a stroke. A quick perusal of their Instagram page tells you they are digitally rendered avatars, not real people, but many of their 280,000 followers don’t know, or simply don’t care. The comments section of their posts is always full of compliments, invitations, and heart emojis. The creators of Instagram’s most popular conjoined twins even created a backstory for them, complete with AI-generated childhood photos and made-up stories about their daily lives. It just an orginary looking Somali guy who shows up in different situations. For example, he's walking down the street humming a happy tune when a guy walking in front of him drops his I-Phone by accident. The Somali guy just walks up, picks up the phone, taps the guy on the shoulder and says, "Sir, I think you dropped this."
Another one has him receiving too much money out of and ATM. He runs to his car (misdirection) and comes back with a tent and lamp, and proceeds to camp out in front of the Bank to report the error when the Tellers arrive the next day.
It's novel...and viral. People are amazed at what you can create with AI.

Noem is naturally thin and probably loses weight under stress, which she is. She has never shied away from augmenting her face, though. Many of us are a little vain, and she has been told her entire life she is pretty. She doesn’t want that to end, but I hope she recognizes age eventually comes for us all. Tweak a little here and there, but let some natural aging happen simultaneously.

I've heard the Love Sac couches are durable and comfortable. My friend has a sectional and said it's all washable, so good for pets. If I had it to do all over, I'd get a set instead of the couch we wound up getting. Not bargain furniture but you can get some pieces at Costco.

Okay, I don't expect any responses for what I am posting. I just need to say this.
Today our oldest grandson had his 12 birthday.
His mother died during a c-section with him.
We all of course we're devasted. We didn't know what we were going to do.
We kept moving forward and one day when grandson was 18 months old another wonderful woman came into our lives.
Son married again and our wonderful daughter-in-law stepped up and into our family.
God moves into our lives when we don't expect it.
Our wonderful daughter-in-law has blessed us with three more wonderful grandchildren.
We thank God everyday for the blessing of our daughter-in-law.
God is great.

Back in the early 00s, we had one of those "team building" exercises where they took the whole crew to play paintball. A lot of fun, especially since I made it a point to fuck with the Director of Ops. The last game was an every man for himself free-for-all. Everyone died within about 3 minutes except for me and Phil. We were both hunkered down in the prone shooting through the grass and brush, until I scampered away in a fast low crawl around his flank. Ended up close behind him so I got up and charged until I was standing over him and I shot him about 5 times in the ass at about 8 feet. He never saw it coming until the first paintball hit.
With the whole crew watching, they found it EXTREMELY entertaining. Months later he was still complaining about how his ass was bruised for weeks.

After I was widowed, I found T, or she found me, and we soon married. She was, and is, a saint. She scooped up my little boys and became their mother in every way except birth. Somehow, she also kept the memory of their natural mother alive for them without having ever meeting her.
The boys love her madly for a zillion good reasons.

It didn't get as cold here as forecast last night -- I bottomed out at a warm 14.4F. But tonight, I think it's gonna get down there. I had a low of 9.1F last week. I might just beat that this morning.
And the freeze line is gonna push way down in Florida again tonight. Tampa Airport dropped below freezing last night. Miami was 35F.

Our son sent a photo from Orlando of a fountain with frozen water. So my sweet grands did not swim while they went to Epcot or wherever they are. He said they don't really know the old Disney characters so avoided the Magic Kingdom.
When we lived in FL we went with our boys twice. The other times when they had band stuff and our eldest was in the now defunct/hiatus Collegiate Disney Band two summers (highly competitive, and he met friends from all over the country). To sum, we are not Disney fans.
I could be wrong but think the cold weather thinned the herd. My skiing grands were there and cold doesn't bother them at all. I'm sad they could not swim, because they love that as well. Son there for several reasons and threw in Disney for his eldest princess.
Anyway, an upside down and retarded winter.
Someday I will have snow because I have faith that it will happen. The flowers can handle it, so no worries through May.

The Artemis II wet dress rehearsal is underway. The fueling test will start sometime tomorrow morning. They are doing a simulated launch for 9PM EST Monday.
The cold weather delayed everything by 2 days, so the earliest launch opportunity was delayed to Feb. 8.

I'm telling y'all...if this dry winter kills my 30 David Austin roses, some as large as trees, I will make the national news going bonkers. My husband claims the roots are deep and they are fine.
I've tampered down my freak out by praying and being thankful in all things. And I am blessed abundantly in life. Just because I did not have a White Christmas does not give me license to go barking mad.
However, dead roses I have nurtured will not stand and I will lose it and drive electric scooters drunk on gin and not eating sushi or cinnamon rolls. And hit everyone I can who looks like a lesbo or Dim.
I can force myself into being patient for things I cannot control (snow). But I will NOT deprive my roses of water.
After that arrest is when I will drive my electric scooter swigging gin.
Note: I don't know how to drive an electric scooter but will learn.

In Sarabeth's Bakery, in the Upper West Side of NYC, 15yrs ago we sat with Catherine O'Hara and a guy at a booth. My husband sat next to her. I recognized her instantly as our eyes met and we smiled at each other. I left her alone and could tell she was grateful. She was lovely and kind and did not act the diva.
My husband? No idea who she was until I told him after we left.
I once introduced him to stinking Mitt Romney in an airport back then. Ole Mitt came over to me (minding my own bidness) to ask if we were boarding...I do not know why. I have always been a magnet for crazy people and add him to the list. My husband had gone off to get coffee and had no idea who I was talking to when he returned.
At first I thought he did not have security, but I think he did. Two random guys came up to him and "thanked him for his service." SPIT. I think that was code for "here we are." One of his carry on bags looked like a beat up baby blue bowling bag, which I thought odd.
He does walk like a penguin. Deek-hed (I am still trying to master saying this like an Aussie).

This sublimation rate is rare here. Some did melt into liquid -- my station tripped .05" this afternoon as the the snow in the funnel started melting, but I believe the brunt is subliming.

That's graupel. That can typically hit before the lovely snow. First we have high winds off the mountain canyons, howling through our attic. Then the graupel and storms. WHEN IT IS NORMAL.
Per my son and college friends, powder is the best there is out here vs icy snow. I am sure I am not the only person in the Intermountain West praying for snow and rain.
I'll take graupel at this point! Hail! Anything!

Groundhog day derives from the Celtic "Imbolc" or the cross-quarter day between the winter solstice and vernal equinox. That cross quarter point is 3:03 PM EST Feb. 3rd this year. The Sun's ecliptic longitude is 315 degrees, halfway between 270 and 0/360.
And that's a decent marker for when the day starts to get noticeably longer and longer.

They handle harsh winters and feet of snow fine...it's the dryness I worry about as this is brand new and UGH. I think, like trees, they will be ok. Along with spring bulbs, etc.
My husband, to keep me from going bonkers out loud (I think I am internally) says it would take a "few years" of winters like this to really be bad. Like get your canteen of water bad and living through wildfires.
I still don't like it at all.

Pulled it through the drought.

He started watering a bit the other day. We dread restrictions if they happen this summer.
I just love snow and always have since college. We later moved to FL for 30yrs on the Atlantic. Which was great except for missing seasons and having bugs and snakes.
We had a very wet October last fall, and it got our hopes up. We've had great winters for a decade since moving back. This is bonkers.

Its exactly the snow we had during this storm last week. We were supposed to get a wee bit of ice, but probably the last 1% of the storm was tiny little ice crystals that looked like falling diamond dust in the lights. It was so fine that the snow itself showed no sign of ice. Its still soft out there.

This was a higher altitude phenom, above 6k in Utah. About a foot of the stuff. Very angular glasslike shards, very uniform. Feldspar from the sky. Even kind of made kind of a glassy sound. Pubs mentioning sublimation reminded me of that, because it never melted either into liquid water. Not much anyhow.

I'll take any type of snow at this point.
It was so wonderful in the olde days (last winter and all before). In the spring the snowflakes clump together and fall. And spring snows melt fast. I'm also ok with that as the two months of snow on the ground for weeks are gone with whatever fresh hell this has become.

Just saw a story about a guy who saved a snowball for 50 years. It snowed in San Francisco in Feb of 1976. A young kid there got his first and only snow day of his life. He saved a snowball in a peanut bar jar, and it's still there in his freezer after 50 years.
