Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Sunday Overnight Open Thread - February 1, 2026 [Doof]![]() Photo credit - Howard in Alberta Careful out there! Woman Suffers Stroke After Cracking Her Neck to Relieve Tension ![]() A simple stretching of the neck caused a young woman to temporarily lose her vision as well as the ability to speak after suffering a stroke. KayLynne Felthager was driving home from Walmart when she felt a headache coming on and instinctively stretched her neck to the right to relieve some tension. It had become somewhat of a habit to crack her neck after a long day at work, but this time was different. Almost immediately after hearing the crack in her neck, Kaylynne felt a sharp pain in her neck. The pain in Felthager’s neck didn’t feel normal, and the fact that it did not subside over the next several days didn’t exactly feel reassuring, but she only relied on over-the-counter pain medication to deal with it, instead of seeing a doctor. It wasn’t until five days later that things really took a turn for the worse. *** Once at the hospital, doctors performed a CT scan, which revealed that she had suffered a stroke. After talking to medical staff about the pain she felt after stretching her neck in the car a few days prior, KayLynne was told that the innocent neck cracking had caused an artery dissection, which later resulted in a blood clot reaching her brain and causing a stroke. Luckily, the blood clot dissolved quickly, so the doctors didn’t need to operate.Seriously -- be careful!! ----- AI is asshoe. For real. This is some of the stupidest stuff I have ever seen. Yet there are people who find this interesting and entertaining?? AI-Generated Conjoined Twins Valeria and Camila Are Taking the Internet by Storm Conjoined twins Valeria and Camila are the latest AI influencers to go viral on social media, gaining hundreds of thousands of followers in a very short time. With more and more AI models and influencers competing for real humans’ attention, creators have to, well, get creative when designing their avatars. Flawless skin, perfect figure, and dazzling eyes just aren’t enough to cut it on social media today, but the AI conjoined twins niche is apparently right for the picking! Enter Valeria and Camila, probably the most attractive conjoined twins the world has ever seen. A quick perusal of their Instagram page tells you they are digitally rendered avatars, not real people, but many of their 280,000 followers don’t know, or simply don’t care. The comments section of their posts is always full of compliments, invitations, and heart emojis. The creators of Instagram’s most popular conjoined twins even created a backstory for them, complete with AI-generated childhood photos and made-up stories about their daily lives. This only made their fans more invested in them, to the point where they ignore the fact that they aren’t real.I'm choosing not to include any photos of this ridiculousness. Feel free to hit the link if you want to see any. ![]()

While the Oscars play it elegant and the Met Gala goes full fantasy, the Grammys let stars strut like it's their personal runway. It is a platform for musicians to treat fashion as performance art. It is eclectic, theatrical, and tied to their artistic identity.

I'm going viral with an AI I came up with. It's called "The Honest Somali."
It just an orginary looking Somali guy who shows up in different situations. For example, he's walking down the street humming a happy tune when a guy walking in front of him drops his I-Phone by accident. The Somali guy just walks up, picks up the phone, taps the guy on the shoulder and says, "Sir, I think you dropped this." Another one has him receiving too much money out of and ATM. He runs to his car (misdirection) and comes back with a tent and lamp, and proceeds to camp out in front of the Bank to report the error when the Tellers arrive the next day. It's novel...and viral. People are amazed at what you can create with AI. Posted by: Orson at February 01, 2026 10:20 PM (dIske) 68

Ohhhh, kinky! But surprisingly common, according to Juliet Nicholson's The Perfect Summer: England 1911, Just Before The Storm. From page 83: Small silver rings clamped into the nipples deepened, enhanced and raised the cleavage by providing a sort of ledge on which the evening gown rested precariously. . .[a]nd so the finest of Edwardian society made their way downstains for dinner, the men smelling strongly of Mr Penhaligon's Hammam Bouquet, undercut by inescapable body odour and cigar smoke, the ladies wafting down in a cloud of lavender and rose-water that helped disguise the whiff of dirty hair, while the rubbing of the unseen rings against the dress afforded a secret frisson of pleasure. A lot of fun, especially since I made it a point to fuck with the Director of Ops. The last game was an every man for himself free-for-all. Everyone died within about 3 minutes except for me and Phil. We were both hunkered down in the prone shooting through the grass and brush, until I scampered away in a fast low crawl around his flank. Ended up close behind him so I got up and charged until I was standing over him and I shot him about 5 times in the ass at about 8 feet. He never saw it coming until the first paintball hit. With the whole crew watching, they found it EXTREMELY entertaining. Months later he was still complaining about how his ass was bruised for weeks. A largely tangent here, but one thing has always bothered me about the premise behind Gilligan's Island. Why would a millionaire and his wife deign to lower their lavish way of living simply for a tour aboard a barely cobbled shop for Florida? What enticement was there for a movie star to board that same vessel? What exactly would a professor (whose field of study was never made clear) make that same choice? Mary Ann might find enchantment for a brief outing on the ocean, giving her origins in the American Midwest.
Then I think off the proximity of Cuba. Was that the actual place they made landfall? Did Castro have intentions for the unfortunates? Could it be that Gilligan's antics that routinely damaged any escape effort actual represented that he was working with Fidel? Think about it - he always wore a vivid red shirt. Also recommend Melania. Two couples went on Friday, and even the boyz found it entertaining. Even if you have TDS, it was informative about the behind the scenes duties of the First Lady. I don't know how she handled those long days on those heels. She is a gem and we are lucky we have her. Since she gets no other press, this was a good way to showcase her integrity.

Saw an ancient rerun of BBCs Top Gear tonight and Mack Fleetwood was on. He talked quite a bit about the great internal strife in Fleetwood Mac. He said the band often recorded the instrumental parts and back up vocals and THEN Stevie Nicks would record the lead over them (she hadn't necessarily been in the studio yet) and leave. Crazy stuff. Rich stuff though.

Shit man, is that switch cover question legit? Part of me says yup. My brother's FIL is proof that life can sustain itself with a single digit IQ, being a biden supporter was one clue, but seeing he lives a mile from my father he called him and asked if he had an offset screwdriver. My father being curious went to his house to see what this retard had going on. He goes into the house and the dim one says he needs the offset screw driver to get at screws in his ceiling fan, and he has to get around the blades. My father reaches up and rotates the blades out of the way and poof, problem solved. True story, and yes people are indeed that fucking stupid.

Health officials warn measles surge intensifies, hundreds in quarantine South Carolina reported 847 measles cases on Friday, state health data showed, including 58 additional infections since Tuesday, as officials warned the widening outbreak could last weeks or months amid lagging vaccine uptake. There are currently 443 people in quarantine and 20 in isolation. The latest end of quarantine for these is February 24, the state health department said. The outbreak, which began in October, has been centered in the northwest part of the state, which includes Greenville and Spartanburg, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Health. Of those infected, 760 were unvaccinated, 15 were partially vaccinated with one of the recommended two-dose measles-mumps-rubella vaccines, 20 were fully vaccinated and 52 had unknown vaccination status. Mmm Martina McBride. Not generally into the country thing, but she can sing. I actually was at her studio in the earlier 2000's. Good lord the place was incredible. Looked like a frigging dentist office from the outside, but inside it was off the charts. No expense spared whatsoever. There was a full kitchen that was nicer than what was in most people's houses. Candy dishes on the counter with good candy, coffee machines, etc. The vocal room had a ceiling that could be raised or lowered to alter the acoustics. Solid core cable, no stranded wire cables anywhere. 100's of feet of various cables in the stock room and not a stranded wire cable in the building. there were these huge tall shutter looking things lining the walls of the main recording room. Swing them one way its hardwood, swing them the other way and they were padded. All to change the acoustics in the room. each one cost an obscene amount. I think I calculated it to be over 120K just for those. The place was just amazing.

Bulg yeah sorta, studied it forever. Actually finally got to use it a lot after the bastids ruined my life by collapsing (the Soviets). Mostly in other former union republics. Except for Armenia, where their Russian was quite good (educated and a lot cleaner than actual Russians speaking, understandably), it was sort of perfect. Locals had high school Russian at best, so was easy to do basic communications.
Then there was the time with the Georgian unit overseas where only the officers/NCOs had any Russian, the men did not (victims of the window during which Georgia stupidly stopped Russian language teaching in schools). And another time much earlier where I translated from another language for a TASS TV crew. They thought it hilarious. Worst headache evuh followed. I think you have kids when not on a beach 352 days/year and whipping your boobs around. Praying for snow/rain through May. Get used to it everyone but we need it out West. You don't need to check the Ground Hog report tomorrow, because the snow is mine, but sent to the wrong zip codes. Snow is even mentioned in this Grammy winning song! I need it, people! It is colder in Orlando than here in ski country.
Our son sent a photo from Orlando of a fountain with frozen water. So my sweet grands did not swim while they went to Epcot or wherever they are. He said they don't really know the old Disney characters so avoided the Magic Kingdom. When we lived in FL we went with our boys twice. The other times when they had band stuff and our eldest was in the now defunct/hiatus Collegiate Disney Band two summers (highly competitive, and he met friends from all over the country). To sum, we are not Disney fans. I could be wrong but think the cold weather thinned the herd. My skiing grands were there and cold doesn't bother them at all. I'm sad they could not swim, because they love that as well. Son there for several reasons and threw in Disney for his eldest princess. Anyway, an upside down and retarded winter. Someday I will have snow because I have faith that it will happen. The flowers can handle it, so no worries through May. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at February 01, 2026 11:49 PM (WONhk) 299

Though three are no longer with us, the remaining six have had no real evolution in "style" or wardrobe regardless of age. Just because I did not have a White Christmas does not give me license to go barking mad. However, dead roses I have nurtured will not stand and I will lose it and drive electric scooters drunk on gin and not eating sushi or cinnamon rolls. And hit everyone I can who looks like a lesbo or Dim. I can force myself into being patient for things I cannot control (snow). But I will NOT deprive my roses of water. I guess the red carpet made me remember another famous person I met when we traveled.
In Sarabeth's Bakery, in the Upper West Side of NYC, 15yrs ago we sat with Catherine O'Hara and a guy at a booth. My husband sat next to her. I recognized her instantly as our eyes met and we smiled at each other. I left her alone and could tell she was grateful. She was lovely and kind and did not act the diva. My husband? No idea who she was until I told him after we left. I once introduced him to stinking Mitt Romney in an airport back then. Ole Mitt came over to me (minding my own bidness) to ask if we were boarding...I do not know why. I have always been a magnet for crazy people and add him to the list. My husband had gone off to get coffee and had no idea who I was talking to when he returned. At first I thought he did not have security, but I think he did. Two random guys came up to him and "thanked him for his service." SPIT. I think that was code for "here we are." One of his carry on bags looked like a beat up baby blue bowling bag, which I thought odd. He does walk like a penguin. Deek-hed (I am still trying to master saying this like an Aussie). Pubs, In the desert it is really something. One time about half a foot of snow fell way out yonder 4WD country. I was a bit concerned. It was mostly gone the next day. The combination of higher altitude, intense sunlight, and dry air really does the trick.

Groundhog day derives from the Celtic "Imbolc" or the cross-quarter day between the winter solstice and vernal equinox. That cross quarter point is 3:03 PM EST Feb. 3rd this year. The Sun's ecliptic longitude is 315 degrees, halfway between 270 and 0/360. And that's a decent marker for when the day starts to get noticeably longer and longer. Don't remember the year, it was up in the country, so dry the big pine it's needles were turning brown.
Dug a trench around the drip line and flooded it then kept the water running enough that the whole trench stayed wet. Pulled it through the drought. Had a well. Couldn't afford that in the city. We later moved to FL for 30yrs on the Atlantic. Which was great except for missing seasons and having bugs and snakes. We had a very wet October last fall, and it got our hopes up. We've had great winters for a decade since moving back. This is bonkers. ...................................... @372...you might be talking about riming. But the Western snow is softer and less icy than on the Eastern resorts...or so I hear. It's normally very soft and dry where we live vs NOTHING. Ok,2 storms and big woop. Gramps used to tend roses. He had one of those old school 1 car wooden garages. Whatever that powder stuff was he shot the roses with, with a handpump sprayer, he stored that in the garage and it soaked into the ground or the boards and gave the garage a wonderful odor.
We used to have picnics and BBQ in his back yard. I drove down the alley a couple years ago and looked at it. Postage stamp sized lot, couldn’t believe it. Posted by: Common Tater at February 02, 2026 01:04 AM (uG1+h) 381

We were supposed to get a wee bit of ice, but probably the last 1% of the storm was tiny little ice crystals that looked like falling diamond dust in the lights. It was so fine that the snow itself showed no sign of ice. Its still soft out there. Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at February 02, 2026 01:05 AM (snZF9) 382

Yeah, Graupel is like pellets. Not Graupel.
This was a higher altitude phenom, above 6k in Utah. About a foot of the stuff. Very angular glasslike shards, very uniform. Feldspar from the sky. Even kind of made kind of a glassy sound. Pubs mentioning sublimation reminded me of that, because it never melted either into liquid water. Not much anyhow. Posted by: Common Tater at February 02, 2026 01:09 AM (uG1+h) 386

I guess riming. It sounds lovely. I'll take any type of snow at this point. It was so wonderful in the olde days (last winter and all before). In the spring the snowflakes clump together and fall. And spring snows melt fast. I'm also ok with that as the two months of snow on the ground for weeks are gone with whatever fresh hell this has become. I’d be surprised if a snowball would last 50 years, it would turn into chunk of ice? A “freezer” is not set to 32°, properly adjusted for deep freeze below zero, about -10°F or so. But most are probably not, especially over five decades. And then power outages.
