Good morning! Had to shovel my damn driveway yesterday. Supposed to get up above freezing this morning and stay there till late this evening. Ice on the neighborhood streets persists. On the busier throughfares, there's just deep ruts of slush in the daytime with frozen slush in the shadowed sections and everywhere after sunset. On the good news front, the grandkids spent the night again. Looks like waffles are on the menu later this morning.

Fen, here is something from Wiki about Margaret Becker I didn't know. "However, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Becker occasionally encountered controversy in the world of Contemporary Christian music because she is a Roman Catholic; some Christian stores refused to carry her album, and her concert appearances were sometimes picketed."
I don't think her lyrics or the message of her songs is specifically Catholic-oriented. Personally I don't see that it matters, but troublemakers gonna troublemake no matter what. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at January 28, 2026 05:38 AM (wzUl9) 32

Chinese state-linked hackers reportedly accessed mobile phones “at the heart of Downing Street” as part of a long-running cyber-espionage campaign targeting telecom networks worldwide, according to Fox News.
U.S. intelligence agencies believe the breaches began as early as 2021, though they were publicly revealed in 2024 after American officials warned allies about widespread intrusions into global telecommunications systems. The campaign targeted several countries, including the U.S. and members of the Five Eyes alliance. Investigators say the attackers may have gained access to the data of millions, with the ability to monitor calls, read messages, and track locations. @37/FenelonSpoke: Tell him "You're welcome" from me, please.
Radio problems: We have many of those. Frustrating when trying to hear what other drivers are saying. DEF: The bane of our existence right now due to the DEF freezing up in the tank, or sensors involving the DEF system freezing up or failing, causing the engines to go into "derated torque" as a way of nudging the driver to take the vehicle in for service. So much on the new busses seems to be built fragile compared to the older buses from 10+ years ago. Sure the new ones ride nice but it doesn't seem to take much to break 'em, and the amount of computerization in them seems to cause problems with fixing and clearing error codes. Lastly, our mechanics (bless 'em) look overworked and haggard right now. I wish there was something I could do for them to improve their situation other than just thanking them for their hard work. A few years back I test-drove a used 2009 Mercedes E-Class, their diesel sedan of that year. It rode a little too stiffly for me on these horrible roads. And my mechanic advised me that in his experience diesels were best on long-distance runs and commutes, that they tended to be difficult (whatever that meant) when used for stop-and-go city driving. But it was a beauty, and the old "tock-tock-tock" of the '80s diesels was almost completely absent.

Dagny, almost four now, has changed and matured amazingly in her looks. The usual wisdom is that Siberians, and Maine Coons too, don't fully mature until they are three to five years old. You all have no idea what goes on. ................ That's insanity. I've done Home Health and Hospice for 30 years. You can't imagine the paperwork and regulations. We have someone on staff auditing charts at all times in case Medicare should happen to pull one of our charts. Even the smallest mistake can cost you thousands of dollars and put your certification at risk. Apparently not in California though. Posted by: Molly k. at January 28, 2026 07:06 AM (j/yko) 104

Posted by: m at January 28, 2026 07:04 AM (SSiCQ) But they believe that we will have regrets. It's pretty obviously a successful tactic, given the many shrines which have been put up for Good and Pretti. The fact that they got the Black Panthers to speak out on the matter (and tell them to keep the BP name out they fucking mouths) just shows the righteousness of their cause. They only need another thousand or so to die and the normies will be horrified. Posted by: I used to have a different nic at January 28, 2026 07:08 AM (ExV1e) 106

--------- I expected something science fiction like. And more expensive. I've got arthritis in my knees, so I wonder if this would help... better than anti-inflammatories. Posted by: Martini Farmer at January 28, 2026 07:08 AM (jtM2q) 107
Let's see what happens next to Lexie, as hinted to by the FL AG:
