113 He's a man ostensibly working on building or keeping together an auto repair business, based on the parts lying around and busted up signage. The implication is that he isn't, and will never be, successful. The painting is rendered in a horrible perspective with everything wonky and unsettling. The power lines show a successful, shiny, new world that this poor hump simply isn't allowed to be a part of.

The message is "Everything about this man trying to Do It Himself is wrong".

It's 20th c. Socialist trash to its core. You will never succeed. Join the Revolution. It's your only hope.

The traditional Sioux solution to public sanitation was.... interesting. The village would stay in one spot next to a water source until the piles of excrement, urine-soaked ground and buffalo offal began to stink. Then they'd pack up teepees and move a mile or so downstream.

150 Landscape Near Chicago, 1934
Aaron Bohrod (1907–1992)

AI Overview - Landscape Near Chicago (1934) is an oil painting by American Regionalist artist Aaron Bohrod, currently held in the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art. The artwork reflects the Depression-era loneliness and urban, industrial decay of Chicago's landscape during that period.

I don't think I'd hang this painting but I don't intensely dislike it either. (The detailing is very good, well planned.)

It could be many places in Pennsylvania presently, including some fairly close "neighbors." 😣

It's even rougher for sellers! I'm think about rolling a fraction of my bullion into treasuries during the inevitable sell-off. Just to take some profit while the getting is good, not a large amount.

I got a quote from them last week - a decent one, given the insane premiums smaller buyers are charging. A day later, they wrote to say they could not honor this quote ($7500), because they were increasing their minimum purchase from $1K to $10k.

Sure it does. Every part of our culture has been debased and gotten woke. Much of it started in Hollywood that doesn't make movies anymore so much as it does make cultural rules that flow downstream. That's why China now owns a huge part of Hollywood, it drives culture.

You don't want to admit it because you like movies but that doesn't make it false.
