Nine days after being reported missing by his mother and stepfather, RJ was found safe indoors, unharmed, and warmly embraced by his rescuers. Authorities believe RJ ran away to seek safety away from his parents’ home. “He gave us a hug and we told him that he was safe and nobody was going to harm him anymore, and he gave us a big hug and he was ready to go eat some pizza,” said Thomas Gentile of the United Cajun Navy. Local authorities confirmed RJ is now in a safe environment, and he will not be returning to the property where he was previously living. The community played a key role in bringing RJ home. “I asked for the media’s help and we got it,” said Chickasha Police Chief Goebel Music. “How I know that to be true is that where I met and spoke with RJ, when I was hugging him, he said, ‘Hey, I saw you on the news.’ So, what you did worked.”Check out the whole thing. ----- Not exactly wholesome Walrus Penis Bone Stolen from Iconic Camden Cheesesteak Restaurant A decades-old walrus penis bone that had become a quirky fixture at Donkey’s Place, a well-known cheesesteak spot in Camden, was stolen by a bar patron, according to the restaurant’s staff. The item, considered a good luck charm by employees and regulars, was taken by a man who had reportedly been drinking for several hours with two others. Surveillance footage shows the suspect leaving the premises with the walrus penis bone in hand, shortly after the group asked to see it.Really? A bone from a walrus' junk? People need help. ----- Spalding! Don't touch it! Something huge and brown is crossing the Atlantic from Africa to America, and satellites can no longer ignore it For more than a decade, satellites have watched a brown streak grow across the Atlantic Ocean. In May 2025, that streak reached a new record of about 37.5 million tons of floating seaweed stretching over 5,400 miles, roughly twice the width of the continental United States. Scientists call it the Great Atlantic Sargassum Belt, and it is now big enough to be tracked from space almost every year. A new scientific review led by marine scientist Brian Lapointe at Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute pulls together forty years of data to explain how this happened. Published in the journal Harmful Algae, the work shows that a mix of natural forces and human made nutrient pollution has turned a once patchy seaweed into a recurring ocean-scale belt that threatens coasts, economies, and even the climate. But OF COURSE - it threatens the climate. Good evening good people.
The county has prepared all snow removal/management equipment for the expected storm: The two snow shovels were located and dusted off and Caleb's 1973 Ford pickup was gassed up down at Wally's Filling Station. Violet is fixing biscuits and cornbread just in case. The models for here are too far out to truly get worried but right now, they are calling for at least 10 inches of snow. Honestly, if that happens, we'll be cut off from the rest of the country until May or so. Okay by me. Authorities believe RJ ran away to seek safety away from his parents’ home.
Mixed emotions about that story. Glad he's okay, of course. At not quite that boy's age, I "ran away" for an hour or so one day. I was frustrated by something, I forget what exactly, but I was teased and tormented frequently by siblings, and didn't get a lot of help from parents. Seemed like nobody understood. I didn't go far, and came back fairly soon. Got the belt. Never ran away again, with that kind of welcome-back. You don't know your family dynamic is not healthy when you're growing up in it; you just think it's all like that. Even when you have Leave It To Beaver for contrast. City of Vancouver is mostly on high ground, with bedrock below the soil and sand, and likely will survive, more or less.

Greetings, all. I'm sorry if this kind of hijacks the ONT but I saw this post from Wolfus this morning. Being on the west coast it seems I'm always late to the party.
"49 The 1932 The Most Dangerous Game w/ Joel McCrea and Fay Wray is coming up on Movies! at 5 am central. I know of it, but have never seen it. This would have been the year before Fay became famous for her turn in King Kong. As for McCrea, he was a solid performer for several decades. His title role as "Sergeant Hook" with Barbara Stanwyck in the '50s is a great adaptation of the Jack Schaefer Western short story (which I admire tremendously), and he is perfectly cast." Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at January 20, 2026 05:13 AM (wzUl9) Wolfus, if you like both these actors, check out Joel McCrea in "Barbary Coast", with Miriam Hopkins. He was in the early stages of his leading man development, but he takes over the screen. And, Fay Wray did a fabulous pre-code comedy called "They Met in a Taxi", with Chester Morris. A quintessential example of the "big mis" (misunderstanding) plot line. Just fun, snappy dialog. OK, now going back to read the post. Posted by: Effie Perrine at January 20, 2026 10:54 PM (1auMZ) 191

Did Trump do anything to stop the BLM riots? How about the DC riots when he had to go into the bunker? Any arrests that led to convictions? ICE agents being shot at (2x in Texas); attacked everywhere. White software engineers eating lunch are attacked by mobs thinking that they are ICE. The J6 "riots" included people who never even entered into any buildings. The FBI hunted them down to the corners of the Earth. The FBI hunted down elderly Catholic women praying outside abortion clinics. What is happening now, everyone agrees must be stopped before blood runs in the streets because the Left has no brakes, only accelerators. It isn't that the Left hates law enforcement, its just that the Left hates the idea that they can't use them to torment and incarcerate their enemies. All the things they say that they are upset about ICE, pulling white people people over demanding their papers, following cars, tracking people, setting up dragnets, blowing their horns like police sirens - they are doing. They are blocking people, dragging them off while complaining about kidnapping, that is exactly what they are doing. They act like police, judge, jury, executioner; have their own laws and civil codes - all the Cargo Cult elements of a tyrannical police state. While Babylon DC winks as the Bolsheviks create break away territories. All of government is either openly hostile to us or gives empty words and promises. We are on our own. Get off the X. They'll whine and cry at their faggy resort and then go home to make the best of it independently of one another, and at each other's expense.
There's nothing he needs to say that couldn't be accomplished by shitting in a shoebox with a note that says "Eat This and Die," and sending that by courier. Preferably Stone Cold Steve Austin's character from "The Package." Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at January 20, 2026 11:12 PM (BI5O2) 260

A lot of software with fortran origins will still name elements of their input data cards. Lots of in-house code which you get used to. Even if it’s migrated to other languages you’ll still hear people talking about cards. Even COTS stuff like msc nastran people will refer to input “decks”. Same with “tapes” which people haven’t had to use for decades but still refer to primary storage I/o files as tapes because at one point they really were.

For exactly this situation, further they have contingencies out the ying yang for utilizing other aircraft and vehicles as needed all the way down to somewhere nearby there’s an E4 with a Deuce and a half on standby, just in case.

I took the rear brakes off the Lark, and pulled the axles. Wheel bearings appear to be OK. Left side inner axle seal was bad; have them coming from Amazon. Left brake was soaked in oil. I think that brake drum is bad, as in cracked. Hit it lightly with a hammer, and it goes "dunk". Hit the right brake drum, and it rings like a bell. May be able to get a decent replacement on Saturday.

324 I've often wondered just how it is that we're still flying Presidents around in these ancient planes. Both of them have exceeded the intended design life for a 747 in a passenger configuration... it's kind of shocking. Trump would probably be better off in his own damn plane at this point.

Posted by: Azjaeger at January 21, 2026 12:17 AM (3/XaG) AF1 sure isn't in the air all the time, either. If an airline owns a 747, it's not making money on the ground. So they fly those planes until the wings fall off. An airliner 747 probably gets more airframe hours on it in one year than AF1 has had since it was built. Yeah, the stories I’m reading were bad. Even some baling with a parachute weren’t all that great.
Hitting the rear stabilizer, getting munched by other planes in the formation wasn’t unusual. One B-17 ended up with just the headless torso of a guy from another plane on the navigators desk. They figured out who it was eventually from laundry marks on the clothes. I still can’t figure out how those guys got up in those planes over and over. Completely crazy. Posted by: JQ at January 21, 2026 12:48 AM (rdVOm) They have the wood splitter from Hell in the Reynolds Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Some farmer took an old steel tractor wheel, and welded a big-ass wedge to the rim of it. Wheel was mounted in a frame, with a very solid anvil, that had a gap for the wedge to pass through. Wheel was driven by a flat belt from the side PTO on an old tractor. It just went round and round constantly. User would place an end of the log on the anvil, and tip it into the patch of the wedge as it came around. Sounds like a great way to lose fingers or a whole arm. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at January 21, 2026 12:55 AM (8zz6B) 393
Then, if you managed to safely land after baling out, you are in enemy territory where you’ve been dropping bombs on their cities, and some farmer might beat you to death with a pitchfork. If you survive the locals, then they throw you in jail and the Gestapo work you over breaking bones and all that crap.

Posted by: JQ Pretty much the standard design nowadays. 27 tons of pressure will do a number on a finger. Ask me how I know. They used to make auger type splitters but those had safety issues. Neighbor, years ago had one that he ran off his tractor PTO. A strap from his bibs got caught by the auger and pulled him into the auger. He lost his leg. This place is my live news feed. For both serious news and, alas, scary rumors (like the sirens-blaring motorcade heading to Andrews mentioned above).
I've been reading comments with folks "live" during major weather events, earthquakes, riots, and assassinations, successful and (fortunately) not. Also weddings, births, and deaths of Hordelings & company. I'm grateful for all the Morons who have ears on other sources and convey info and links to here ASAP. It is amusing to be well-informed already by the time the Morning Report rolls around, especially on Mondays. What I don't like is that time I have to sleep, and wake up to … okay, usually nothing vital, but I don't like to go to bed wondering about, say, the condition of AF1. But, gotta sleep sometime. That pic with all the hollerith cards? It's been "burned", the film version of photoshop. Notice how from the hips down, that model's body is just a dark space, until you finally see a bit of one leg and a bit of foot. The key is the date: 1966. The heyday of the miniskirt. The company brass saw the picture and decided that all that leg wasn't the image they wanted.
My card story - in '69, I wrote a Fortran program to calculate LCR values for an equalizer network for differing lengths of coax, all on cards. The deck was about 7 inches. 15 years and two companies later, at a conference, I run into my old boss, who tells me that they got an order for more of that product, they dug out the cards, had some contract company run them through a reader onto an 8" floppy, and it worked fine on Fortran77. Posted by: An Observation The silver market has been in a state of flux for about a decade. Small investor demand for the poor man's bullion has put extreme pressure on supply. Combine that with China, the no. 3 exporter restricting exports and supply has been seriously squeezed. This isn't the first time London has been caught selling phantom silver. A chunk of the big players holdings are paper. They're having a harder time moving it because buyers want physical silver now. The supply squeeze isn't going away anytime soon. There was a rumor that Musk's level of concern has him looking at investing in the production end.
