And finally Dr. Thomas Sowell nails it when looking at the AWFLs .................. ![]() This may help after the previous story....... Liberal arts you say? More like Perverted arts. ‘This Has Gone Way Too Far': Videos Show Bizarre Sexual Ceremony That Elite Amherst College Pushes All First Year Students To Attend Hartland — Which community has had the most epic decade in Michigan history? Ann Arbor in the 1960s had hippies running wild. Detroit and the auto industry boomed in the 1920s. Grand Rapids officially became “Beer City USA” in the 1990s. But the title of “Most Epic Decade in Michigan History” belongs to Hartland in the 1970s. Hartland? Where’s that? Hartland is a sleepy suburb in Livingston County that’s best known these days for the bad traffic at US-23 and M-59, but in the 1970s it was far and away the coolest place in the entire state. Consider all that happened in this tiny bedroom community back then: HERNANDO, Fla. (CBS12) — An 81-year-old Florida woman with a criminal past allegedly arranged a murder-for-hire meeting with an undercover detective, landing her behind bars. Detectives with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit and Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, took 81-year-old Elouise Leland into custody after receiving confidential information that she was actively seeking someone to carry out a murder. There are several YT channels that render popular songs in Latin and, being a nerd, I listen to them. One such song is Tears For Fears' Everybody Wants to Rule the World. I've thought the song was kind of catchy but I've never really thought about it. Now that I'm plumbing the depths of Latin vocabulary and grammar, I am thinking about it. And the above three quotes on consequences brings it to mind. I could be full of shit (I frequently am) but I think the song is about our being constantly forced to make decisions based only on imperfect information and, therefore, frequently our plans made with the best of intentions fail. When that happens, we should not despair, surrender, or blame others. We should accept the consequences, try to learn, and move forward.

Evening, late night people,
'Twas a fine evening, until the water leaks from last week recurred just now. Three separate places in kitchen and bathroom. I've mopped up and jammed towels into what appear to be the entry points. Tomorrow I call the office -- again -- and tell them this time that if I slip and fall in the water they have allowed to seep onto my floors, I will be talking to a lawyer. (Which I will.) Maybe that'll get some action. In the meantime I plan to stop at the local U-Haul office and get some prices for picking up and storing my possessions, shipping them, and the price of a small box-on-wheels that (I hope) I can tow with my most necessary possessions. It's past time to get the hell out of this pesthole. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at January 19, 2026 10:25 PM (wzUl9) 70

A right leaning poster (not me) pointed out Bill Clinton wanted abortion rare, opposed illegal immigration, and had no concerns for tranny rights or gay marriage. The response? Well, that's because we learned. So the overwhelming move to the left over the last generation is just dismissed out of hand. Yep, as far as any big show coming down here South. It was a big whopper, hit G4 level earlier, but the magnetic field was pointing in the wrong direction. That's Bz, the component of the magnetic field pointing "vertically", perpendicular to the ecliptic plane. I’d be skeptical of anybody who hasn’t modified some of their beliefs from say age 15 or 20 to age 40 to 50. That’s crazy. Some a little earlier, some a little later. Everyone learns at their own pace. Some people grow old, but they never grow up.
That’s a hallmark of the classic fuckhead, really. Stuck in Junior High. Permanently. One of my first stirrings of skepticism was “environmentalists” were a lot different than the hunters and fishermen and outdoorsman guys I grew up around. Even the hard core leftists were big on barbecue and good eats. Not the crunchy granolas, they were into weird foods and crystal healings and superstitions and seemed a little bit off somehow. I found it difficult to find genuine people, because that’s what Time-Life told me it was about. I really do love Virginia. Beautiful state
Just before a conference in Bethesda, Maryland, I took some time to drive through Virginia from Arlington down to Richmond and then over to Charlottesville and Staunton and up through Harrisonburg and over to Culpeper, back in the summer of 1998. It was stunningly beautiful. Even with running into a deer with a rental car outside of Two Towers National Park, it was a wonderful experience. Good example: the retards won't let us build nuclear reactors, even though the U.S. industry has been operating for about 75 years without a single fatality to a member of the general public. I'm totally against the UK's anti-free speech tyranny. But just to be clear: Enoch Burke was NOT arrested for misuse of pronouns; he was arrested for trespassing on school property after he was fired. And, yes, he was fired for misusing a transgender student's pronouns and for his general stance against transgenderism. But all of his arrests were for trespassing on private property. And Mario Nawfal is once again being disingenuous in his reportage.

Change in political attitudes over the years...well, POLITICS has changed over the years. It used to be that at least major national issues were about the budget split, 45% domestic-55% defense or vice versa. The corruption was not as widely known and nowhere near as obvious. The mainstream left were not to the left of the Weather Underground. And social issues were not anywhere at the level of "you must believe a person with male parts could have a baby".

And finally Dr. Thomas Sowell nails it when looking at the AWFLs
------------ "The virtue of Pride can best be described by the term: "moral ambitiousness." It means that one must earn the right to hold oneself as one's own highest value by achieving one's own moral perfection—which one achieves by never accepting any code of irrational virtues impossible to practice and by never failing to practice the virtues one knows to be rational—by never accepting an unearned guilt and never earning any, or, if one has earned it, never leaving it uncorrected—by never resigning oneself passively to any flaws in one's character—by never placing any concern, wish, fear or mood of the moment above the reality of one's own self-esteem. And, above all, it means one's rejection of the role of a sacrificial animal, the rejection of any doctrine that preaches self-immolation as a moral virtue or duty." -- Ayn Rand, "Galt's Speech" Posted by: ShainS -- 'The Warmth Of Collectivism' is Code for 'Hell On Earth' at January 20, 2026 12:21 AM (nXhai) 280

Hmmm - Your copy of the book "People I want to Punch in the Face" seems a bit of a thin, single volume compared to my 19 volume, encyclopedia-sized version. For instance, in Volume 1, page 1,252 you would find Alda, Alan and in Volume 18, page 750 you would see Weingarten, Randi.
Good morning hordlings and greetings from somewhat cloudy Singapore. Hope all is well with y'all. Posted by: Publius Redux at January 20, 2026 02:39 AM (/aZwr) Posted by: Late Nite haiku jell-o shots at January 20, 2026 02:41 AM (f/3mU) 346

352 Greetings, Publius Redux!
Singapore... wow. Hope all is well for you also! Posted by: JQ at January 20, 2026 02:50 AM (rdVOm) All well over here - and the weather has actually been fairly nice (not as warm and humid as usual). I was asleep when it happened but, apparently, the USS Lincoln Carrier Group transited through the Singapore Straights and the Straights of Malacca the night before last (if my figuring is correct). Wish I had been able to see it! As for Haiku and Jell-O shots - count me in. Here's my entry - in light of the passage of the USS Lincoln in my vicinity: Trump-us Rex is nigh. Striding Earth as a giant Iran is well f*cked. Posted by: Publius Redux at January 20, 2026 03:03 AM (/aZwr) 367
Vielen Dank, JQ.
