Illinois Governor (and Possible Presidential Candidate) JB Pritzker Signs Law Sealing Criminal Records to Protect Illegals from Deportation by the Feds

And also, as many people observe, to stop people from immediately looking up the criminal histories of the next scumbag to kill an innocent citizen. No more "arrested 58 times previously" headlines in Illinois.

They won't stop crime. In fact, they'll promote it.

But they will stop you from noticing crime.

Governor JB Pritzker
@GovPritzker

Today, we're empowering those seeking a second chance.

With my signature, Illinois will create an automatic process to seal the criminal records of those convicted of non-violent crimes.

We're opening up opportunities for those re-entering society to live healthy, stable lives.

Illinois Governor Signs Clean Slate Act to Seal Nonviolent Records
Last updated

Jan 18

Governor JB Pritzker signed the bipartisan Clean Slate Act on January 16, automating the sealing of nonviolent criminal records for about 1.7 to 2.2 million eligible residents. It covers misdemeanors after two years, certain felonies after three or more, and petty offenses twice yearly, while excluding serious crimes like murder, sex offenses, and DUIs--law enforcement keeps full access. Supporters like Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth call it justice and redemption, citing higher wages and lower recidivism; critics including Republican lawmakers argue it protects repeat offenders and burdens background checks. The law phases in from June 1, 2026, with a task force monitoring impacts through 2034.

Offenses like property crimes and narcotics charges will be wiped from records -- and taxpayers are told to trust the system

JB Pritzker and Illinois Democrats passed laws allowing millions of criminal convictions to be sealed.

This isn't "reform" it's protecting criminals over citizens.

The result?
• Employers can't fully vet who they hire
• Landlords can't properly screen renters
• Businesses can't assess real risk
• Citizens lose basic transparency and protection from scammers

Public safety depends on truth and accountability, not hiding criminal histories to satisfy ideological talking points.

Once again, Illinois democrats puts ideology first, and everyday citizens pay the price.

23 Willowed, info on the KKK Act that Harmeet Dillon/DOJ will supposedly charge Don Lemon with:

The "KKK Act of 1871" (formally the Enforcement Act of 1871):

A crucial piece of Reconstruction-era legislation ... making it a federal crime to interfere with civil rights, allowing presidential use of the military, and holding state officials accountable for civil rights violations, all under the umbrella of enforcing the 14th Amendment.

Key Provisions & Significance:
Federal Enforcement: It made interfering with voting rights and other civil liberties a federal offense, targeting Klan violence like intimidation, conspiracy, and masked terrorism.

Presidential Power: Authorized the President (Ulysses S. Grant) to use federal troops to enforce the law and suspend habeas corpus if necessary.

Holding Officials Accountable: Made state officials liable in federal court

As I read it, it's ongoing in the sense that after a certain period of time, certain convictions are sealed. So if you're convicted of Crime X that's eligible for sealing after 3 years, then after 3 years it's sealed. If you later commit another crime, that wouldn't get sealed until the time for that crime elapsed.

What's cute is the new Moon photobombing the GOES CCOR-1 images. The instrument is sensitive enough it sees the Moon lit up from the earth shine. As it gets close to the center, they tamp down the sensitivity as that's where the corona gets brighter, so you'll see the Moon as a black disc.

97 As I read it, it's ongoing in the sense that after a certain period of time, certain convictions are sealed. So if you're convicted of Crime X that's eligible for sealing after 3 years, then after 3 years it's sealed. If you later commit another crime, that wouldn't get sealed until the time for that crime elapsed.

Should be interesting to see what the government records agencies report after a criminal history search. For example, informing the searcher that prior convictions/arrests were under seal is one thing. It's quite another if the search results report "No records found" after sealing.

Say Illinois seals the record after 3 years.

What then happens to the X account(s) that do daily reporting of people, complete with mugshuts and full names? Or external websites that track and post the same information? Newspaper articles? Nationally-syndicated news?

Does Pritzker go to the EU and have them send out a sternly-worded letter to delete all instances of the data?

Or is there now a new market to track this information, externally, before the Dems go all Orwell on history?

170 This isn't just for illegals - people with green cards can get deported for various crimes.

Which raises an interesting question - you are asked about whether you've been arrested or convicted of a crime when you renew your green card every ten years.

If your records have been sealed by the local authorities, can you legally say "no"?

173 My brother skipped out on a DWI from the state of Illinois in the early 90's. He moved back home, and simply renewed his license from that state as needed.

Later on, oh say 20+ years later, he attempted to renew that license again, and Illinois put an alert out that he had 'issues' in Illinois that needed to be addressed and couldn't renew until those issues were resolved.

We attempted to take care of things, but Illinois rejected every attempt and he was never able to renew his license after that.

But it's good to know illegals can continue to pillage that shithole for eternity.

The top posting at the moment:

Is anyone else in the ICE war zone saddened and disappointed by how few family and friends have reached out with concern, caring, or even interest?

I'm seeing this across my circles. Folks are saying "nobody's even bothering to call or text." It's hard to know whether it's shame, fear, or sympathy with ICE.

I can say that in a lot of cases this is likely to quickly become the last straw. The uncomfortable Thanksgiving with Uncle Fred is going to become, "I'm never sitting around a table with that prick again."

But even worse, many who are mildly supportive, but living in a different cosmos are going to be written off as a callous waste of time. Perhaps it's ignorance. We're finding that even suburban neighbors have no idea how active ICE is within less than a mile of their homes. (Just look at the daily Iceout maps!)

Here they are, FIGHTING FASCISM, and everyone else in the country is callous enough to think that they are nuts.

In addition he won several state level submission grappling championships in Brazil, an almost impossible feat for an American. He coached a world champion in BJJ, and several UFC fighters. If states like Illinois and Virginia (and the whole west coast) decide "nahh brah, we're going to facilitate foreign invasion" then they're not states. Then we figure out whether to treat the disloyal counties as Indian Reservations or as enemy colonies.

In Dec 2024 one of my late brother's best friends, & a friend of mine, answered my email with photos of grands, that "He was sure I was as horrified as he was that Trump won." Due to "women's healthcare."

I could have lied about my vote but I didn't. He knew from his mother that I supported his daughter's abortion due to the baby having ancephalopathy a decade ago. At 20wks he had to drive her from WV to IL "in a blizzard." I told him it was good that she got care there as they were more experienced with this type of procedure. He knows I am anti-abortion. I have to admit I don't know what I'd do if my baby only had part of her brain.

I have known him since he was 7yrs old to my 9yrs. Somehow he & his younger sister have become radical haters of anyone, including me, who voted for Trump. We are all Nazi, I guess.

I wrote a very nice email back, explaining some of his crap, and that must have been the end.

No great loss, as I haven't seen him since my brother's funeral. Our families were close.
