Speaking of "progressive" there's a strategy I can't remember the term for, when they try to make something happen by sort of speaking the thing into existence. For example, the lefties in my life keep talking about how bad the economy and job market are (even though they are improving). Their attempts to cultivate this belief can discourage productive economic activity and thereby actually diminish the economy and job market, proving their point that OrangeManBad.
It's not exactly "self-fulfilling prophecy" but there's a semi-conscious drive to force reality to bend a certain way to serve political ends, even if it is destructive. Posted by: Emmie at January 13, 2026 08:25 PM (FMtrg) --- The economy is actually something that can be affected by perception. The economy is all about perception of the calculation of gain. Which is how we got into the Carter recession. The government had actually taken to a policy of early intervention when it's indicators suggested that there would be a dip in the economy. But private observers started using the government actions as a sign that an economic dip was coming and furlough employees and cut back on investment. It definitely became a self-fulfilling cycle. And then artificial actions in the interest market would not let the interest rates come down to compensate. So we had stagflation. Posted by: Axeman at January 13, 2026 08:30 PM (krQz2) 163

Soros doesn't want Marxism. So he's about as "right wing" as fascists.

Hmmm. Sounds suspiciously like a musical written by my cousin, Boone Hunnicutt, called Checkers, which was about two tractor-pull rivals and a female arena announcer. It was held over for a second week at the Stanly County Agri-Civic center, and featured that local hit song, "One Night in Lizard Lick". Posted by: Paco at January 13, 2026 08:53 PM (2L+MU) 204

Posted by: Blonde Morticia at January 13, 2026 08:46 PM (Jxa0O) Most of the people bad mouthing him only see clips, and clips chosen for them by other people. And no one asks why they got those clips, instead the decide to go into that "seeded zeitgeist" no one considers that a confusing narrative has been arranged for getting a lot of people to believe something highly actionable that is mostly untrue, and then it has to be sparked, so everyone starts saying the same things. It is better to be angry about what you understand and have seen, not what has been shown you by people who may have goals far different than what they are claiming. "Hate Tucker" could very well be a pretext for "control Vance" or even "Make sure John Huntsman is the candidate so we don't have to worry about Vance doing what he says he will do" Personally I would take listening to Tucker yammer on if the chance was Vance as Pres for 8 more years. I grew up around a lot of fairly incompetent manipulators. It took me a while to figure out why the world never fit afterwards what was claimed to have been done, or what I was told had been needed, but it finally clicked that most of what I was being told was BS to manipulate me into doing things someone else found useful, or covered up a lie someone else told.
It started pissing me off about the time the anti smoking drives started and COVID made me nearly incoherent with rage, daily, because of the lies and emotional manipulation. It makes me unfit for general conversation I am afraid Anyhow, this ends the Kindltot Group Therapy. Thank you for attending. Posted by: Paco This is why the folks saying "One Night In Bangkok" is about chess, and the ones saying it's about freaky sex, are both correct. It's literally a monologue from the guy who's there for the chess tournament, explaining to the degenerates that he is there for the chess, and not the freaky sex. I don't see you guys rating the kind of 'mate' I'm contemplating. I'd let you watch, I would invite you, but the queens we use would not excite you. Posted by: Ex Rex Reeder ----- We all rag on the goat-schtuppers for being inbred, but the Amish are having their own genetic problems.
