Some senior mullah's report to HQ had the faithful down to about 25 percent of the population and many mosques are empty because of it. That is one of the reasons that theocracies have fates intertwined with politics instead of a party system. I am not sure I agree. The world order - that is, the Postwar norm, as modified by the fall of the USSR - failed. It's last gasp was 2020. It's over, and it has been over for a while. The COVID-related excesses were the final spasm, and represents the transition. It was Year Zero.
Trump is the first major player to acknowledge it, and to try to operate accordingly. Whether it works remains to be seen, but he and his team understand it. He isn't tearing down the world order, he is trying to secure our place in the new one.

DataRepublican recently posted a fascinating essay, far too detailed and insightful for me to even summarize, but a rough thumbnail is that current world leaders *like* systems that are "legible" and definable. Doesn't matter if they're evil or tyrannical; it just matters that they play their roll and don't upset the status quo too much. Iran and Venezuela fit that; Europeans and other Davos types were fine with them, as long as they continued to play their assigned rolls.
They are terrified and horrified of Trump because he is a Disruptor - he doesn't care a bit about this old system, he is going after what he sees as evil and ripe for a fall. And in doing that, he is destabilizing the entire world system and upsetting all kinds of relationships and dependencies that they all thought they could count on forever.
Trump has unbalanced their world, and the old system is flying apart under the stress.

True in official agnostics but the principle is bigger than that. Con men find fairly intelligent people to be the easy marks because a stupid person will admit if they don't understand something and a extremely smart person often knows the limits of knowledge. The midwits, however, can take a bunch of facts, put it in a blender and reach the conclusion that the con man leads them to.
In part, that is the reason for just asking questions--it insinuates the questioner has some knowledge of things that they are not fully disclosing ( a reason for the question), then the pattern seeking behavior in the midwit intellect is ignited.
Sprinkle some facts in the subsequent questions and elicited responses from the interviewee, and suddenly the viewer has figured out puzzle, felt it came to them by their own intellect, and is oblivious to be manipulated into the result.
Works best in audio/video format and less so in written documents. Writing can always be crosschecked and emotions are less at play when reading.
