Sashimi prepped. Chicken's in the oven. Lemons from our tree will be squeezed soon.
Big weather change here in the mountains of northern Israel. Yesterday and Wednesday we had super sunny skies and temperatures at around 68-70 (warmer at lower altitudes). Overnight, we had rain and wind gusts through this morning and temps at around 50 degrees right now. Not exactly Frostbite Falls weather but we've been spoiled. Speaking of the tech thread, I have to program a new set of garage and gate remotes. I think I'll play it safe and first park the car on the street in case I oops like Pixy does. Just imagine living it. And those young kids....they exist. There are good folks trapped in that city. And besides the drug problems, there are failed education system problems and tons of other issues. Plus, you have folks in government and non-profits who consider the residents as simply a money source for their personal and political gain. Everything is an op. Every aped of government and education is on the take. And if you're smart, you start a non-profit and rake in the taxpayer cash for doing little or nothing. If "Iran is not a Muslim country" takes hold, then the "___ is not a Muslim country" formula is suddenly in play for a whole bunch of other countries. I can't think of very many countries ever who have violently rebelled against a foreign religion once it took hold. No one's ever fought seriously, en masse as a popular revolt, to cast off Hinduism or Buddhism or Christianity once they were established in a place as the dominant popular religion. That could just be because I just started my first coffee of the day, though. Posted by: Warai-otoko at January 09, 2026 05:14 AM (06Hmj) 51

Dagny the aloof kitten -- well, cat -- is getting to be a little less so. In the evenings when she is sleepy, I scoop her up and settle her on a cushion on my lap, and she stays a while for petting. And right now she is on the arm of the sofa next to me. True, she's hinting about breakfast, but she could just as easily do that from the floor.
She's always liked petting, including belly rubs, but she was never one to come to people for it; she expected us to go to her. Maybe some year she'll willingly hop in a lap. My bear story.
Catoctin Wildlife Park out in MD. Wife and I are walking past an enclosure that has two lions and a sun bear. I walk up to the keeper and ask about the dangers of that. "Oh it's fine. You see that lion over there?" "Yes." "Do you see the claw marks across the nose?" "Yes." "They learned." Posted by: NR Pax at January 09, 2026 06:25 AM (svLOV) 102

Morning Horde. Our month long odyssey of our dogs health issues continue. I could write a book but here's the condensed version. Lethargic and diagnosed as stomach upset from food change, nope it's pancreatitis. While being treated for that she loses the use of her back legs and our vet takes xrays and she has a mass in her chest. Off to a specialty vet for a ct scan, two benign masses that are removed and she's treated for myasthenia gravis and her legs work again. One week of our dog being normal and the lethargy returns. Her liver values are elevated and she's back to the specialty vet for treatment. Now on day two of treatment. Please send up a prayer for her and for us. I think that we will be asked to make a decision very soon on if we want her put down.

Much like the campaigns to block streets and confront drivers in support of BLM and then Hamas, the goal was to create chaos, generate violent confrontations, and force police intervention. The issue, as David Horowitz frequently reminded us, was not the issue, it was the revolution. BLM, Hamas or illegal aliens are vectors for radicalizing liberals into extremism through the familiar mechanisms of protest, violence, death and then terrorism and tyranny.

There is no more "coverage." That's because there is no more media. We're shocked because we don't see the story on what used to be our primary information channels because we haven't changed our thinking.
Nobody has cable anymore. Nobody watches TV news anymore. The media now is Nick Shirley and Nick Sortor and Andy Ngo and Joe Rogan and a thousand others. Russian Collusion was the last coffin nail. Nobody trusts them. And since technology has brought alternatives, nobody watches them. So let's not be "shocked by the lack of coverage." Frankly I'm shocked they're still in business. Maybe some year she'll willingly hop in a lap.
Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, I had a chinchilla Persian that loved to be petted but hated to be picked up and would never sit in your lap. She lay or sit next to you but was never a lap cat. She'd let me pick her up, for brief moments, but that's it. But she sure loved to be petted. Her purr could be heard in the next county. She hated to be alone to. She was always in the room with us. Friendly kitty, but not a lap cat. Posted by: Puddleglum, cheer up for the worst is yet to come at January 09, 2026 07:04 AM (sAmhv) 128
