Any amount of spending of any size should have at least 3 sets of eyes on it. Not because "we won't be nosy", but because that's the *prudent* way to run a business and the prudent way to run a government, and because every dollar that gets WASTED or STOLEN is a dollar that can't go to whatever our "great cause" might be (even if that cause is corporate profits--those are necessary). So here's the levels of review that should accompany any organization of any monetary size:
1) INTERNAL AUDIT: Its awesome that an organization wants to do great things. But there needs to be an internal arm of the organization that makes sure that mission is working as intended. As such, an Internal Audit will review the organizations "Policies" (what we do), "Procedures" (here's how we do it), and "Internal Controls" (what checks/balances are in place to let us know if we messed something up?). So Internal Audit reviews Policies, Procedures, & Internal Controls and then makes its report to Management and the Board of Directors. Management then makes recommendations on what things need to be changed, and the Board ratifies the changes.

The argument is that if the government doesn't pay for it these women will have to stay home and raise their own kids.
Now, even at the middle class level it is only a slight bonus financially if a woman with young kids works outside the home. Yes if you are a lawyer or a tech-bro-ette then sure you make enough to easily pay for daycare.

Agree. It's not the best shooting ever, but clearly she was aggressive, not obeying, and would have run that guy over. FAFO. I also wonder what happened before the vid began. Her car is at an odd angle, almost facing the wrong way, and the officers are already screaming at her to get out. I strongly suspect she already tried to ram them but failed, so the officers were already very suspicious.

Just watched that, then replayed the critical moment several times. In all honesty it doesn't look good for the ICE agent who opened fire. He placed himself in front of the car after it was in motion, and had ample time to move out of the way. Also shooting a driver of a moving car doesn't stop it in its tracks like in video games. Unfortunately in this climate ICE has zero room to make unforced errors like this.

Not a great example. Roads are primarily built and maintained by taxes tacked onto gasoline purchase. The real gripe now is those driving EV's not contributing to that tax, but enjoying the roadways. Which merely means they are going to end up being taxed another way (per mile is my guess) eventually.
As for education. Education is guaranteed and mandatory, and and educated public (in theory) is a better public. SUBSIDIZED DAYCARE, on the other hand is just the result of poor planning on behalf of the parents. If they can't afford to stay at home with the new one, or can't afford daycare while they work...then having a kid was a poor personal decision that shouldn't be passed onto the taxpayer.

Looks like twice. First in front of the vehicle and second alongside. We also do not see due to vantage point whether another ICE officer was downfield. Door was open on another vehicle which she narrowly avoids.
BTW, once you try to run over a cop on slippery streets while fleeing, you are now a fleeing felon where lethal force can be used to stop you. Both shots occurred in about two seconds.
See TN v. Garner. Her case was a misdemeanor until she almost runs over the ICE guy in front of her. And she did almost do that on a slippery street where that cop could have easily slipped in that split second.
Cars are considered lethal weapons btw and doing stupid shit like trying to flee with them to avoid being deported, getting a ticket or other stupid shit means you are playing stupid games and you win stupid prizes.

Privately funded education was the norm in this country until the early 1900s, and worked well. Literacy was much higher before government schools started. Nothing says that some tax money shouldn't go to poor kids for private schooling....vouchers. But there is no reason schools need to be government run. .

Ted, take another look at the video, there is an ICE officer standing right in front of the car who shoots her when she accelerates and hits him.
There is also new video from a different angle that shows him clearly being hit by the SUV.

She disobeyed a lawful order.
Yes, they can use lethal force if necessary to cause compliance with a lawful order.
They're going to go hard on claiming that the order to exit the car wasn't lawful.
They'll lose.
If you're getting cuffed, and you swing at the cop with a knife, and he dodges, then shoots you, you don't get to claim the fact that he dodged your knife voids the lawful order.

One of the amusing things about bodycam footage when the idea was originally proposed it was generally anti-police orgs in favor and pro-police orgs opposed.
Everyone expected it would show massive police criminality.
Not that no bad cop has been caught this way but in most cases the video seems to be bolster police officer's stories. And thinking it through, it is a good thing that the public can see what our public servants are doing in our name...so can we get these on IRS bureaucrats, ATF agents, etc?

And btw, the federal agent is not required to remove himself, she is required to stop and trying to run him down makes her a fleeing felon.
Stupid yters tell people to do stupid things with the police.
You comply, period, you do what they say, period, and you take your fight to court. You do not do stupid things in the present of police officers.
You do not have to consent with police searches and shouldn't. You do not have to consent with field sobriety tests, and you do not have to consent to speak to them. But if they choose, you cannot use force to try to escape the trip downtown. They either have probable cause to stop you or they don't.
If they do, then whatever you say or do becomes unlawful resisting of arrest, obstructing law enforcement, etc. and other charges. Try to flee by running over an officer who is not required to get out the way by any law during a stop, you become a forcible felon.

Actually... there is no name on your ballot. It's like with mail in voting, the name is on the envelope, but once that envelope is open, all checks on voter ID, or even if it is counted, is dependent on who is doing the counting.

Whatever shit they do on the side of the road or on the street, you have to take it and fight another day in court where they can't shoot or maim you.
I had no patience for the sidewalk lawyer types when teaching criminal procedure.
I told them they did not have to speak and better that they did not other than id'ing themselves, they do not have to consent to searches. But trying to flee, any physical touching of officers, being belligerent as I know muh rights, and other stupidity could warrant a death sentence for them right there and right now.
Best to be a live dog in a courtroom arguing over probable cause than be a dead one on the side of the road.
Ironically, some of the law enforcement types in my classes got upset that I told students that they did not have to speak, consent to searches, etc. and that I was anti-cop because I discussed cases where Scotus said the cops got it wrong. Others thought I was too pro police when I discussed cases where the perp did not fare well in court or got deaded.
