Should Ohh Enn Tee, Be Forgot, And Never Brought To Mind

Hello all! Welcome to the first meme ONT of 2026! Got some fun stuff for you, plus some Christmas leftovers. Let's start with this. It's a new year, but what if you were given the chance at a new life. Total reset, the clock rolls back to the day you were born. What traits would you choose if you could?

Remember when the Left celebrated rugged individualists? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

individualist.jpg

In case you don't know, it's been a long standing meme on the left to praise the circled man, likely named August Landmesser, for refusing to salute at a Nazi rally. Now suddenly they're condemning "rugged individualism" in favor of "The warmth of collectivism".

The warmth of collectivism

I haven't seen the worst of it yet
I wanna know, can you tell me
Am I in love to stay?

Take me to the river, drop me in the water
Take me to the river, dip me in the water
Washing me down, washing me down

I don't know why you treat me so bad
Think of all the things that we could have had

I wouldn't choose any of those.

I would choose to have a complete, sanctified understanding of my salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ from my first conscious moment.

Then I wouldn't worry about health or death or wealth or comfort or genetics and I would be naturally winsome to friends, animals and women.

31 Evening, folken,

About to wrap it up for this first Friday of '26. Warm weather here and it will continue for a while, which depresses and annoys me no end. Miss Linda has trundled off back home and the feline thugs are trotting around, hoping something has gotten in that they can chase and kill.

For the do-over? I'd take either the trust fund or the $1m, whichever is larger. A million may not seem like that much today, but it can generate interest. And when I get older, I can make it work for me. Of course this presumes that my parents Version 2.0 don't fritter it away and have the sense to teach me how to handle money. That training I did not get the first time around.

Chiseling has been ubiquitous since there's been chisels. I worked for a nationally known moving company that paid day laborers (I was one at 21) a weekday rate and a weekend rate that was 2/3rds of that, effectively making overtime into straight time. That was thirty five years ago. The algorithm is just a shiny new way to do a very old thing.

$5 million is plenty to retire for 25 years, you may need better investment advice

this is not about what is owed or what is wanted, it is not about responsibility or ability, it is about what is smart

It is smart to peel off $200-$250K to assist with a down payment to convert your kid's rent to equity

If you had only $1 million in the bank I can see the reluctance but investing in real estate and in your own family is usually the smart thing to do. Not always, but usually.

So one of the new fusion energy startups found a way to improve and optimize the profit equation for their reactor. It think the name of the company is Marathon Fusion. They found if they integrate mercury into the system's breeder blanket they can transmute it into gold. Highly radioactive gold that would take a few years just to decay enough to sell. But alchemy! 92 Whats going to destroy this country is the insatiable short term greed of the people at the top who realistically already have all the money they could ever ever need for generations. The best way to get your own money nowadays is not inventing anything except ways to get them just a bit more money. Its like they expect a complete collapse shortly, which begs two questions: do they not realize they are bringing about the collapse? And why do they think that something as society based as "wealth" will survive societal collapse? Society collapses, and they become prey, most likely to their own "security"

Sadly, its an apples and oranges type of argument.

The real question is, do you trust the kid? or the market. Right now? my 34 year old Son is in Failure mode... unemployed.. living with me... has health problems... and has come to some really bad philosophical conclusions... a few weeks ago he sat in my kitchen and called me a Racist.

So... do I trust him with major capital outlays? uh... I've already in the past given over $150K to get him out of debt.... debt he is still in... sooo...

It really all depends on the people involved IMO.

The remaining half, will be split between me & 2 other siblings once I sell Dad's house... if everybody would just get their stuff out! You got to be kidding.

People of wealth don't have rooms filled with stacks of cash representing their entire wealth. Indeed many are not really all that liquid - its tied up in investments.

That is why I roll my eyes when those stats come out and say that only a small percentage of people can write (and clear) a check for $5000. Even for that amount or a few orders of magnitude more, I would still have to move money around since all of it is working and very little is at rest.

To follow up, the X-rays showed Finn's lungs were in bad shape despite more than two weeks on antibiotics. He had also stopped eating, which is always a bad sign.

I asked the vet if there was any reasonable road back for Finn. She said no and I replied that I'd be over as soon as possible for the last act. Everything went off very peacefully.

Even if the house is in the name of the inheriting spouse alone, the investment of community funds into the property could transmute it into community property.

Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at January 02, 2026 10:56 PM (tgvbd)

Agreed: responsibly bred purebreds are task specific - you want a working dog? You can choose the breed that supports the work you need done. (Unless you want a Newf to do water rescue, then make sure they don't have a bad experience walking into a pool as a puppy and redirect that water instinct to pre-emptive rescues by preventing anyone from entering the water.) You want specific temperaments or behaviors? You look on breed standards and find dogs that have what you need. No one is stopping anyone from rescuing, but don't stop people from getting the type of dog THEY want.

172 DIL just emailed our Christmas Eve photos. Shot real fast from the tripod. Some are good but also someone has their eyes closed. Or our 4yr old granddaughter is making a weird face (she's gorgeous). DIL always looks good. Grandson is not making faces.

My husband? Who is normally photogenic...looks the same in all of them.Says he looks like he was released from the asylum for the evening (I'd add post electroshock therapy). I asked why and he said, "he thought he'd try something new." Lol.

I was overall happy hiding behind bodies, but the ones with the grands I am going to request she hack off some of my hip. I mean she evaporated the background of the mirror, one of me trying to get the baby to smile and also looking like a lunatic. So it could be possible. Will talk to her tomorrow or at some point.

I am not ready for filters yet to change everything. Just some quick lioposuction if possible. It will probably end up looking like I am being stabbed by a tree ornament, but worth a try.

173 125 and Hadrian: Even purebred puppies and kittens need good homes if they are not show worthy. In the past, I've had two purebred Shelties that were too tall and had ears that stood straight rather than tipping over. (The part Sheltie from the Humane Society had ears that conformed perfectly to breed standard.) I had a purebred GSD because her sire was from Germany and somehow his papers got lost. I had a purebred Himalayan with bad genes. I currently have a purebred Persian because his ears are very defective.

Good breeders look for good homes for their pet quality critters. They also make sure the critter is neutered before leaving them.

176 The bakery story really resonated with me.

My Irish parents owned a delicatessen. A few years back, a grammar school classmate sent me an email telling how my father saved his family. My classmate's father had died or disappeared, I don't know which and his mother was hanging on by her fingernails. In desperation, she went to my mother and begged him to let her start a tab so she could feed her family.

My dad agreed. He pulled out a notebook and started her tab that day. She depended on my father for months for food for her family. She never paid my father, but he didn't expect her to. He remembered all the times in Ireland when he went to bed hungry and how during the Depression he didn't work for two years. He survived on cheap potatoes like the good Irishman he was. This was his way of giving back.

He wasn't rich, he wasn't educated, but I could never have asked for a better father than he was. One of those rare Christians who didn't talk the talk, they just walk the walk.

227 Regime forces have been firing on protestors for days. Robust fog of war, but claims of at least 10 killed and many more wounded. Saw one photo of spent shotshells, and claims of birdshot being used in one location. In at least one and almost certainly more locations, anti-regime crowds have torched and looted security HQs, arming themselves.

During the June festivities Israel hit the 4 main internal security bases in Tehran, reportedly with very heavy casualties (forces were assembled and on alert - something tells me Israel knew this was exactly the SOP during crises and .... well). There was recruiting to fill the losses after June, success unknown, but certain that any fresh faces will have little experience and a healthy level of anxiety.

Yogi Berra's dictum about predictions applies here, but several novel aspects to current goings-on. Protest chants are explicitly anti-regime, not about some specific policies, and reportedly unrest has spread to semi-rural areas and small towns, something not seen in prior upheavals. Tabriz area has joined the party, which historically indicated a very serious situation.

Serendipity: I've got a few really good friends, despite being the introverted semi-autistic asshole that I am.

Money? The reshuffle covered that. I'm doing well as an engineer, but I grew up borderline poor-to-working-class, and still think that way. "Live within your means and save for the future." Jimmuh was a bumbling fool during the Iranian Revolution, but the fuck ups go way before then.

See the 1953 coup, which the CIA and MI6 orchestrated. Eisenhower and Churchill decided to do that. Truman before had resisted doing that, against the Brits -- that's a convoluted story. They overthrew the elected Prime Minister, and let the Shah (the last one) assume monarchial power.

The Shah's father was deposed in 1941 during the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran. He had gotten friendly with the Nazis, and the purpose was to keep Germany from getting control and maintain supply lines. And of course oil supplies.

The history there is long and complex.

That's my understanding of what happened. Miklos would post hilarious Raimondo-esque word salads with that nickname. And one of the "open blogger" CoBs banninated all the raimondo nicknames on a night when the real rainmand'oh was being especially toxic. And Miklos had to wait for one of the full-power CoBs to un-banninate him, since the open-blogger ones have banhammer power, but not un-banhammer power.

314 Aberlour 16 is very, very tasty, but very bittersweet when toasting the death of a close friend on New Year's eve morning (which I found out about today). He conquered cancer as a teenager with an experimental protocol and outlived his entire protocol cohort. Unfortunately, the treatment took years off his life expectancy. There are certain friends whose permanent absence in your life leaves a hole that can't be filled and changes your remaining trajectory. I can hear their voices, but they'll never speak to me again.

Read about Shapour Bakhtiar, from PM of Iran trying to lead a reform govt before Khomeini took over, quite possibly the biggest cuck in the world.

320 Well, I am going to get an early one. Did some work here today. Cut up some limbs from shrubs I had trimmed, and put the sticks on the woodpile. Put the wheels back on the old Jeep, got it on the ground, and a battery in it, and it started right up. I hooked a tow strap and chain on the back and used it to uproot a mostly-dead oleander bush. Gives me more usable space in the side yard. And the oleander bush will get cut up, and put in the wheelie bin, and NOT the firewood pile.

Night, Horde.

The Shah turned him down. Israel also debated killing the SOB while he was in Paris there at the last. Supercuck PM Shapour Bakhtiar there at the last, realizing what was going to happen, begged the Mossad station chief in Tehran to take out Khomeini.

Israel debated it and decided against it. At the time, the Mossad chief senior strategerist thouhgt Khomeini wasn't much of a threat, that the Iranian army would take care of him.

So....
