Posted by: Boss Moss at January 01, 2026 04:27 PM (QAvZU) Not everywhere. In my area (coastal OC) I can get off-brand as low as 3.65. Chevron and other brand name regular is 4.29 to high 4's depending. Of course I haven't gone outside since yesterday - don't know if anything changed overnight but doubt it - we would have heard. Some of the remote areas may be considerably higher - I recall seeing it very high in Needles but it's a 10 minute drive to the Arizona side. Gasbuddy is a good resource for finding gas prices anywhere. Posted by: Anonymous Rogue in Kalifornistan (ARiK) at January 01, 2026 04:38 PM (QGaXH) 34

304 I used to live in Yachats OR,. The Ducks and the Beavers are known for their yearly Civil War. The city a few miles north of Yachats, Waldport, puts out a weekly newspaper. Someone complained that beavers were coming up from the river and destroying the trees in their orchard and asked about the process for getting a depredation permit to shoot them. Some suggested that all they had to do was erect a goal post and the beavers would never get through it. We had flooding one winter. There was a coffee shop located on the Alsea Bay in Waldport that was owned by a lesbian couple. The newspaper reported on the business that were affected by the flooding and noted that the coffee shop sustained no damage, because it was surrounded by dykes. Back in the mid-70s at Michigan Tech, our Division (not One) football team played in a conference of secondary schools that were branch campuses for the Division One schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Think, University of Minnesota, Duluth, for example. One of these schools was Bemidji State University; its team was the Beavers. Thus, for Homecoming at Tech one year where Bemidji State was the opponent, a button was sold for the game with the slogan, "Go Huskies -- Lick the Beavers" and it prominently displayed a Husky atop (mounting?) a prone Beaver on its back. There was a lot of sniggering over that one, as you could imagine. Posted by: Krebs v Carnot: Epic Battle of the Cycling Stars (TM} at January 01, 2026 05:25 PM (xG4kz) 119

Wish I could watch that game but.... If I watch IU play football,, they lose. Dad worked for IU for decades in athletic dept. He got free tickets to home football games. I would go, IU would lose. They were down by so much at the half one time that even the die hard fans were leaving. I bailed. Heard later that they made a stunning comeback in the third quarter and won by a field goal.
Same thing happens when I watch on TV. Posted by: Madamemayhem (uppity wench) at January 01, 2026 05:27 PM (2J/Lj) 123

I am really curious if Alabama will have a good Oline next year. The last two have been tough as DeBoer and now Grubb call plays for differently constructed line than is typical at Alabama. They want a smaller, quicker, line than the roadgraders that Alabama has in stock.

Legitimate, non-fraudulent daycares in Minnesota rarely have significant surpluses. The industry faces a crisis: Over 1,000 providers closed since 2020, per state data, due to low profitability (margins
The $35 million donation claim, if true, wouldn't come from operational profits — it's alleged to stem from fraudulent overbilling or ghost enrollments. For instance: Centers reportedly claimed subsidies for hundreds of non-existent children, pocketing millions (e.g., one center allegedly received $10 million since 2019 despite appearing inactive). This "surplus" could then be funneled to donations, potentially to influence policy or launder money. Grok: https://bit.ly/4pj6xV2 Posted by: Clyde Shelton at January 01, 2026 05:48 PM (P5BPp) 145
