Five Billion in "Questionable" Rental Assistance Went to Dead Tennants, Illegal Aliens Under Biden

$5B in 'questionable' rental assistance under Biden revealed -- including to thousands of 'deceased tenants' and non-citizens: HUD report

WASHINGTON -- A US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) report found more than $5 billion in taxpayer funds went to "questionable" rental assistance recipients during the final year of the Biden administration -- including around 30,000 "deceased tenants" and "thousands" of potential non-citizens, The Post can reveal.
HUD officials said a "large concentration" of the suspicious payments went to New York, California and Washington, DC, with dead recipients getting at least some funds in all 50 states -- in what federal officials are calling widespread abuse of taxpayers' dollars under the Biden administration.
"A massive abuse of taxpayer dollars not only occurred under President [Joe] Biden's watch, but was effectively incentivized by his administration's failure to implement strong financial controls resulting in billions worth of potential improper payments," HUD Secretary Scott Turner said in a statement.

HUD's Office of the Chief Financial Officer uncovered $5.8 billion of the "questionable" payments out of nearly $50 billion in total federal rental assistance to public housing authorities, contractors, landlords and other non-federal entities in fiscal year 2024, the 183-page report disclosed.
The around 11% of taxpayer dollars from HUD went to more than 200,000 possibly ineligible tenants -- of whom 29,715 (around 14%) were dead, 9,472 (4%) were non-citizens and 165,393 (82%) were receiving sums that exceeded the threshold for assistance in their geographic region, particularly in New Orleans and other large metro areas.
The HUD programs are designed to help low-income residents who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford shelter -- and the possible grift means those truly in need could have been left out in the cold.
HUD officials faulted the Biden administration for a directive "to push funding out the door with minimal oversight" as well as rent assistance programs placing "substantial trust and responsibility in these non-federal entities ... to accurately assess tenant eligibility."
Now, HUD will have to reach out to the public housing authorities and other entities to confirm the extent of the fraud -- and either pause or revoke funding. Officials will also make criminal referrals when warranted.
"HUD is implementing processes and procedures to revoke or pause funding as part of its efforts to hold bad actors accountable," one official said. "Additionally, the Department could make criminal referrals and exercise other enforcement actions once it has confirmed fraud occurred."

"This latest report was issued by the state auditor, and that's a nonpartisan position; that state auditor now puts eight state agencies on the high-risk list of agencies to watch out for, for things like fraud and mismanagement as well as waste," Newsmax correspondent Heather Myers revealed last week. "Here's a look at that 92-page report. Newly added to the high-risk list is California's food stamp program. If the state doesn't get the improper payments under control, it could cost an extra $2.5 billion. Also on there is the Department of Finance, which was tasked with giving out COVID relief funds. Critics say $32 billion of that was taken by fraudsters. Then there are infrastructure issues like California's deteriorating dams, and also the high-speed train that's already cost taxpayers 18 billion without a single section of track complete."
But wait, there's more!
"Other reports cite $24 billion spent on the homeless issue that critics claim the state lost track of. More recently, there's a report that says California cell phone users paid a surcharge for years to upgrade the state's 911 system," she added.
Tallied all up, California taxpayers lost $70 billion to fraud.

My guess is that you need to look first at the Assembly before you look at the governor. They appropriate the money and levy the taxes.

But you know what else that doesn't capture? The absolute freaking waste in government mandates, regulations, restrictions, union featherbedding, windmills and solar panels, and hidden costs of security and safety borne by citizens.

This MN USA has said that he's looking into all 14 and the first indictments he filed a couple of weeks ago were the first in a large wave.

That happened in Trump's first term. Trump was the only president in history running for a second term that received more votes than in the first term and still lost. Trump gained about 11 million votes between 2016 (63 million) and 2020 (74 million). And about another 3 million in 2024 on top of that (77 million). So roughly 25 percent increase from 2016.

Killary's baseline was 65 million, Biden got 81 million*, and Kumala got 75 million ballots.

My guess is that Dem baseline fraud of paid ballot harvested, non existent, counting room fraud, and illegal votes tallied between 10-20 million (baseline legal D vote was probably about 55-60 million give or take).

I'm willing to bet that a significant amount of Federal funding for specific items was funneled into other totally unrelated programs (which, of course, is illegal), and that's the primary reason that a certain collection of blue states like California are refusing to open their books. High Speed rail project comes to mind considering the absolute non-progress over a period of at least 12 years. Instead, they used that project to gobble up generational farmland and private properties using emminent domain (over 800 properties at last count)...while funneling federal funds into their entitlement programs.

My guess is the 2008 vote had less formal cheating (typical ingrained type in places like Detroit, Atlanta, etc.) because it simply was not needed. People were tired of the Bushes and some thought that Obama would be a better president than McCain. McCain got 60 million votes. Romney did only slightly better than McCain getting nearly 61 million votes. That is where I think fraud started to kick in as my guess is Obama benefitted from about 4-6m in fraudulent votes in key states for 2012. Florida and Ohio among a few other states like PA, VA, IA, were likely tipped by fraud. Romney probably would have won the electoral college if not the popular vote.

A lot of the final refining in Gold is done in Switzerland, and a lot of the semirefined ore comes in from "conflict" zones like Sudan and Congo, routed through the UAE to hide the source.
This is one of the reasons no one really seems to be able to stop the conflicts in these places -- It would mean having to pay market prices for the ore, instead of the cut rate from groups that don't actually own it and are willing to sell it cheap to keep fighting.
If these conflicts go away, it will seriously impair the Euros and the ME rats who keep things boiling to keep the money rolling in.

My pet peeve is that welfare moms get SNAP (used to be food stamps), and then the kids get fed free at school by another program, but the SNAP doesn't get docked for the cost of the school feeding.

A few years ago, someone in the Pennsylvania government totaled up all the benefits that a single mother of two got, and came to the conclusion that she would have to make about $35 an hour just to break even. I'm sure the numbers are all a lot larger now.

I had an uncle who once said he understood that he had to pay that woman to sit on the couch and watch Oprah, but why couldn't he get any work out of her?

Actually, any entity of any size should have THREE levels of audit/review. The first is internal audit. The organization should have trained personnel who review records and compare the records with how policy, procedure, and internal controls say those records are to be maintained. Then there should be an accounting firm that comes in and reviews enough of the transactional records to determine whether the organizations books are reliable and accurate. Finally, there should be an outside agency that reviews the organization (unless the entity is fortunate enough to do business in a unregulated field).

Our country's leadership now largely pretends they don't understand any of this "mystical" three levels of review stuff, and shrug their shoulders when its found out that massive theft and corruption abounds.

420 Walz is a freakin idiot. He would have been smarter to imply that he would cooperate and (of course) the GOP would have taken him at his word, this stalling the process as the GOP resorts to an "invitation" instead of a subpoena.

Then, a subpoena would have been issue, possibly, if the GOP sees it as a benefit to their organization, but if the issue had blown over, they would be less inclined to do so.

Now, but saying he won't cooperate we go right to the subpoena while issue is still hot and beneficial to the GOPest. And non-compliance means Criminal Contempt, Inherent Contempt (rare), and Civil Enforcement.... up to $100,000 fines, court costs and potentially a year in jail.
