At a recent meeting to meet some new potential kids, the DCF worker told us she was buying a house to "put up veterans, everybody in the office is doing it, its easy and they pay you." I wasn't kidding when I said up thread that the whole point of this is to make sure "we cannot afford to revolt." But the left and by extension our political betters and the judiciary... they've got plenty of walking around money.

Actually, there's a moderately-sized market for used, outdated cellphones. They get cleaned and refurbished for use overseas in shit-hole countries that no one with any sense would deal with if they didn't pay in advance. I get calls/emails from the brokers all the time, since I'm in telecom.

But for younger people, particularly with kids, this is a dangerous and foolhardy attitude. The odds of us "beating them" before they unleash Hell are so low as to approach zero.
If you're in enemy territory, pick a spot in friendly territory where you think survivability is highest, and bolt like a scared rabbit. Don't be like my foolish forebears in Europe who sat around saying "but this is my home" until their homes murdered them.

I say that the GOP has simply changed from the mid-level down to such a degree that MAGA is here to stay for at least a generation. It's even changed enough at the highest levels to ensure it keeps going for a while there (seriously, Thune is such a massive upgrade over McConnell it's kind of crazy).

I'll believe it when I see it. I don't believe there is a MAGA coalition. There is a Trump coalition. People are not supporting MAGA or Republicans, they are supporting Trump. (Similar, in my opinion, to TPUSA. Where people were supporting Charlie Kirk, not TPUSA.)
Recall all the people praising Nikki Haley during Trump's first term and getting all excited that she could be a potential Presidential candidate one day. Turns out she was never MAGA or conservative, but just following orders while serving for Trump 45 Administration.
No one has any idea who among MAGA is just riding Trump's coattails like Nikki Haley and who is actually MAGA like Trump.
We'll all find out over the next 3 years.

Dummy me taking care of my dad for free. (not really, dad did not need a huge amount of care and my job at the time was WFH, and if I had taken an almost two year hiatus to care for dad for less money my job would have gone away)
I'm sure a program like this can be a godsend for someone who just works retail and has to either stay at home to care for a relative or put them in a nursing home. But for a population with no morals nice grift while it lasts.
