I like these people, but I don't love them. A whole Friday night will be a little long. But that's alright, it will almost certainly be better than I am expecting.

This evening? Feeding the cats, sharing a pizza with Miss Linda, maybe watching Trek episodes or reading while they're on . . . very much the same as most evenings.

Tomorrow, a run to the grocery/Walmart for supplies before the rush starts, and hitting the library. Sunday, a solid morning workout, and a bath for the car. Monday I'll have blood drawn early in the morning, so no food or coffee when I get up, and I dread that . . . but I'll have a good breakfast on the way back home.

He actually said a lot of things I agree with. However, during the Q&A he really went off the rails talking about Gaza. In his mind, Israel murdered Gazan children… that notion is astonishingly stupid. Can he not conceive of Hamas using civilians as human shields; he’s smarter than that… it’s sophistry. He also did a defense of “asking questions” conflating that with free speech. Also stupid…. He seemed genuinely angry in moments. I did NOT hear him commend Islam so that did not happen (unless outside the 42 minutes I listened to). He’s lost IMO

Don't know much about him, but being an agent for a long time doesn't mean you can administer the entire force well, much less root out all the problems. I'd have trusted one of Elon's detached info diggers in that position more to find the problems. How to fix once you know the problem is a different issue.

Got a 1979 Bally Star Trek a few weeks back that will be getting overhauled next. It's in ok shape as it stands. A few stuck switches...but, I think I located them all.
Trying to locate a NOS Playfield for that one. Once I get my hands on one, I will tear it down completely and rebuild it.
Cabinet and Glass are in really nice shape. So, likely won't strip it down to re-stencil it...unless I find someone who insists on a repaint to buy it.

I liked that movie when it came out when I was younger and still a hopeless romantic and a sap. Plus I always liked Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in their movies together.

But rewatching it decades later as an older, cynical person, I see how awful a movie plot it is. Where Meg Ryan hires a private investigator to stalk him and then lies to her fiance and flies across the country to stalk Tom Hanks herself.

And in the end, she breaks it off with her fiance because of "magic" that she determines she does not have with him but might possibly have with some single dad widower she's never met and only knows what he's talked about on a late night radio show.

Nothing like the Parent Trap. A movie I do love. The 1961 version.

Yes I understand the annoyance. My overall takeaway is the heroism displayed by those young men under incredibly difficult conditions was absolutely representative of reality so it helped me understand better the sacrifices involved in defeating the Nazis. I got misty eyed at the end

Or telling the true stories with fictional characters. Thinking "Fury" retelling Audie Murphy's MoH action fighting a gazillion Nazis by himself using a few hand weapons and a Ma Deuce mounted to a burning tank destroyer.

As I recall, in the movie "To Hell and Back", the producers made the screenwriter massively tone down his badassery because they didn't think that the audience would believe the true story.

Hayley Mills also started out as a teacher, Miss Bliss, in the early seasons of "Saved by the Bell" (when it was called Good Morning, Miss Bliss) in the late 1980s (1987-1989). I was age 11-13 at the time. Weird to have a crush on her in the late 80s for both her 1961 movie role and in her role as a teacher 20+ years later.

Similar thing happened in "Glory". The colonel died inside the fort leading his men when a counterattack killed him. The Movie decided that was too Hollywood and had him die outside the fort on the glacis.

Russia has better things to do with drones than buzz the Dutch. Its scaremongering or an op. The EU plan to swipe Russia's held assets also failed today, so they have some fake EU bond to send Ukraine a years worth of money.

Both are great in part because of the casting, the tone and dialogue are pleasant in their humor -- and because, for once, the *guy* in the romantic pairing is not clueless and is responsible for the leads getting together by fadeout.

372 In Where Eagles Dare, the book, the romance, such as there is one, is some slight tension between a female spy and the main character.... but the main romance is the Clint Eastwood character chasing a busty German lady/British undercover spy.

It's basically the comedic relief in the book. But that was removed entirely from the movie, and Clint's character totally changed from a lighthearted American cowboy to a cold blooded killer type. I would have preferred the comedic character.
