Were you the poster who went to see "Hamnet"? It was a very intense film. I think the woman deserves an Oscar. I did find it a bit implausible that Shakespeare would be married to a witch like woman when there is so much religious references in his plays. I particularly liked the ending.

I can't feel any effect under 50. Doesn't get strong until close to 100. Between the two, i play guitar for awhile then end up recording thoughts on legal issues i'm working on. I find it quite stimulating when the issues are cutting edge, like the boundary between petitioning and non-petitioning conduct in landlord-tenant relations in the anti-SLAPP context.

There was a true crime show on ID about a father who allegedly left when his son was 18 months. A bunch of weird shit happened and 60 years later his son found his father's body well and truly buried in the basement. It seems his dad invited an ex-con to live with them and help him remodel the house. His mom and the ex-con had an affair and murdered dad, they later married, and he sexually assaulted the daughters. Son had given up finding dad until his sister convinced him to go to a psychic, eventhough he didn't believe, and the psychic told him his father was buried in the basement near a target that used to be in the basement decades earlier.

Someone here can/will correct me, but .....
Wasn't one of the major reasons for the whole electoral college thinggy, and especially congressional certification, to provide a safeguard against the Georgias of the union? Meaning safeguard against non-reliable or non-credible election processes in individual states?
Pretty sure that's the case. But as the civic culture has waned and then collapsed (many wheels turning in that picture), the electorate has defaulted to a very lazy and uninterested and uninformed "oh the elections are secure enough, signatures and stuff". And so not certifying an election has become unthinkable to the political class. Witness the pathetic Senate GOP performance in 2020.
There is a system (of systems). It's not "broken", it's just being operated with an electorate and political class unable to operate it properly, and unworthy of it.

I feel have felt this way about every person / "influencer" / content creator on "the right". I don't believe any of them to actually be conservative or care about making a difference in the nation to save it from the left and Islam. I think they are just using the ideology to grift and make money.

The EV system was derived from how the Holy Roman Emperors were selected (Electors). The convention did not want Congress to select the president because then it would hurt the separation of powers, no one wanted the people to elect the executive directly at the Convention so raw democracy via votes was out, and since the small states wanted some guarantees that large states could not dominate them, you get state by state slates picked by the closest thing to the people that Convention attenders thought prudent. Like the ratifying convention itself, they left it to electors picked and chosen by state legislatures.
No one intended for the party system to take over as it did which made the awkward and ahistoric EV being wagged by the extraconstitutional parties rather than picking individuals of note to select the president.

Same. I follow plenty of content creators on X and YouTube and read AoSHQ of course. But I don't fully trust anyone on the right is actually a person of principle. I follow them to keep up with the news and current events and that's about it.
These are people who for about 2 decades now have been saying "if we don't do X, the country is lost!!!11ty!!!" Or... "the country is going end if Y happens. We have to prevent it or it's all over!!!"
Just like global warming, when the country doesn't end even after we didn't do X or prevent Y, they come up with a new X and new Y to go crazy about. Same grifting nonsense.

Scotus has a case up for oral argument as to whether accepting mail in ballots after Election Day is constitutional. From Mississippi. The actual day in the Constitution is fixed in the text for federal elections which would suggest that counting ballots not received by Election Day or at least postmarked (as was the issue in several states) might be unconstitutional .
Such a ruling is going to affect the cheat by mail states most of all.

Read something like teh National Review in the 70's or 80's, you would have an interesting mix of well educated editors, a few academics, some politicians with a guest column or two, and the conversational level was on par with the salons of Paris back prior to the French Revolution.
Ditto for even center left publications like the New Republic, the news periodicals, etc.
People actually aspired to being a bit conversant in the classics, knowledgeable about literature, history, and civics, etc.
So you had the ability to converse with each other using a common framework. By Lowry's editorship, like the Shrub administration, it was all glitz and discussing dogs rather than serious matters. And that is because the donor base changed, it was no longer the readers through subscriptions but behind the scenes donors that pulled Lowry's strings.
Michael Anton, one of the Claremont school graduates, is someone that should be listened to. The late great Angelo Codevilla and the current Victor Hanson academics, also good.
