37 This is what you call painterly. It’s intended to be viewed from 4 or 5 feet away. When you look at it close you can see the single brushstrokes of color that look like a mess but come together when viewed from a distance. No blending, re-doing paint strokes or outlining.

One thing that always fascinates me is that we live our lives in a slow, sequential fashion, but when you read/look at/watch others from the past its just all there right away. Ernesta is a child, a young woman, and perhaps there is a painting of her as an old woman as well with her own family around her.

Technically speaking, he was employing an interpreter, not a translator. Translators work with written language, interpreters with spoken language.

I pointed out how many companies have left Cali on Reddit a while ago. And the replies I got were hilarious. Some were just “nah bruh you’re lying this is just Right wing propaganda” even though I posted news articles from CNBC or Reuters or whatever.

The BAC law has nothing to do with LTC, as I learned in my class. It's all up to the officer's discretion in any incident relating to you pulling or using your weapon. Of course, being drunk and pulling your sidearm might not be the smartest of moves, but as with any situation, "I feared for my life, I want my lawyer."

We used to have surface nukes other than carriers.
Even other former nukes at my job didn’t even know we used to have nuke cruisers

Then there were a couple of “Oh, Fuck” moments (USS Stark & USS Cole) that revealed the risks of damage to the nuclear core in an attack. Especially elevated risks due to the role this class of ship is tasked with.

I’m not a real fan of the gas turbines, amazing just how much fuel one of those can go through. But they are overall more reliable than piston based engines

Green policies are job and GDP killers. Illegals, visa immigrants lumped under H1B, and low skill workers depress native wages, raise inflation of key goods like food, rent, etc. And protective tariffs, as they normally do, spur domestic investment and manufacturing.

The left always ignores basic economic realities in favor of ideology. Subsidize something like illegal immigrants, you get more of it, tax something, you get less of it, green Nude Eels never work other than to enrich some at the expense of impoverishing the vast populace, and government should not be counted as part of the GDP because there is no such thing as government 'investment', only costs to the domestic economy where money is taken from taxpayers could have been used elsewhere for better effect (Bastiat's Broken Window thesis extended).

I’m in that age group and it did seem like every class I was in had 2 or 3 Jennifers or Jennys in it.

Electoral fraud, any cheat by mail state should be assumed to have fraudulent elections--no other nation uses such as a primary election method.

The rest of it is that corrupt electorates figure if they let the bigwigs tax the 'rich' for their payout, then some of that corruption will trickle down to the welfare class.

Market is fickle and the big trading houses exert influence. Just because "the market" is up or down may or may not have any relevance to your porfolio.
As I started the second sentence of this post text was recieved of my sale, at my price, of a stock that's been up for more than three months.

My biggest losses came from a folio managed by Vanguard. Their porfolios have ~200/500 stocks.
Never a good move. They make money with your money.

For every public bureaucrat, you have armies of private industry lawyers, controllers and compliance officers, their staff, their "desk costs" and the silencing effect on innovation. Then there is the implementation attempting to do a thing to get around the regulations, or abiding by them and forced to do things that are counter-productive or totally unwanted.

I know of several potentially lucrative projects that were smothered in the cradle because regulatory and tax implications.

OTOH, I know of many wasteful projects that came about as a result of government skewing the market and providing large subsidies and regulatory favoritism - these projects were really façades for wasteful rent seeking.

We can easily make a list.
