The Inflation Rate Falls As Trump Promises a New "Golden Age"

I turned off Trump's speech because it made me anxious. He was rushing through the script so fast he tripped over words and didn't emPHAsize key points to drive the message home.

But he did hit the points. The speech was about 20 minutes. I think he should have taken maybe 28 minutes to give the speech, adding in emphasis and pauses.


A fiery President Donald Trump on Wednesday night promised Americans a shock-and-awe push for affordability, offering a glimpse of his 2026 agenda to overhaul Democrat policies that have left housing and health insurance increasingly out of reach for working Americans.

"Tonight, after 11 months, our border is secure, inflation is stopped, wages are up, prices are down, our nation is strong, America is respected, and our country is back - stronger than ever before. We are poised for an economic boom, the likes of which the world has never seen," he declared in a nationally televised address from the White House.

In tone and delivery, Trump brought optimism to the 20-minute address and vowed to voters that they would soon see lower prices, higher wages and a brighter future. He also made clear he intends to inject himself onto the midterm elections ballot when Americans will choose which party will control Congress in 2026.

Woven throughout the speech were assurances that while many foreign issues have captured the Trump triage, America's kitchen table issues are his main focus.

At many points in the speech, Trump reflected back on a year prior, and the near-anemic economy Americans were suffering with, emphasizing that they can't afford to go back to the era of Democratic policies.

The speech was markedly and definitively "Trump." Senior White House aides confirmed to Just The News that shortly before the speech, the president tinkered with it and added his own fiery flair.

Maybe that's why there was stumbling over some words -- because he had just edited it.

Democrats lead Republicans on the 2026 generic ballot 48 to 45, but a change in prices could convince 74% of them that inflation and costs are no longer a problem, according to a new Echelon Insights poll.

Here's the first twenty seconds of the speech.

Trump may or may not have had advanced information that today's report on inflation would be a favorable one. (I assume he did.)

Not even CNN could spin it.

Inflation came in at 2.7%, the lowest in four years -- in other words, the lowest since Biden's policies began driving it sky high -- down 0.3% from the 3.0% mark in September.

"Experts" "expected" the inflation rate to be higher than 3%. They expected rising inflation, not falling inflation.

Bowtie Goebbels Tucker Carlson had announced before the speech that Reliable Congressional Sources had confirmed to him Trump would use the speech to DECLARE WAR ON VENEZUELA, which Bowtie Goebbels is of course opposed to. He has on Maduro spokesmen to assure his largely-foreign audience that Venezuela is a nice country that doesn't send Tren de Aragua terrorists to the US.


I saw a Bowtie Goebbels cultist declare that Carlson was SECRETLY RIGHT, because Trump really had planned to DECLARE WAR ON VENEZUELA but Carlson's brave disclosure of this before the speech forced Trump to change it.

Sure. Trump was ready to announce a war -- one of the most controversial things a President can do -- but Tucker Carlson saying so a few hours before the speech was enough to get him to back off the DECLARATION OF WAR.

Pathetic.

So, we finally get a CPI for November and it correlates perfectly with what we should have expected with the drop in gasoline prices.

The 4-month rolling avg. of the CPI has correlated directionally with the monthly closing price of gas futures since the run up to COVID. (see chart).

With RBOB Gasoline Futures trading @ $1.70 this morning. If that holds through year-end, we're looking at a Dec CPI (YoY) print of 2.3-2.4%. Coming into 2026 we can and should expect gas prices to further attenuate, the CPI to fall well below 2%, if not stall out completely, and wages to grow 3+% given the amount of investment happening.

Soon, copper and other tight supply commodities will be the driver of inflation, not gasoline, but we're not there yet.

If that poll is even remotely accurate, then we should keep the House. I think given the modern map with so many gerrymandered seats, the Dumocraps need a generic ballot advantage of at least 5-7 points to change control.

It's unknown how the new TX gerrymander will play out, and who knows what FL will do.

But polls like this are good news. I'm still worried about 2026 because our side has too many lazy slothing lipids who don't see a need to vote.

Trump has never been the best formal speaker.

He can riff like a madman but if you put a teleprompter in front of him he starts reading instead of ad-libbing and his rhythm turns robotic and rushed.

He's gotten a lot better than he was in 2016 and his speech in Congress earlier this year was probably one of his best, but the man will never be our greatest presidential orator.

At least he isn't W.

I used to give technical talks and pitches for funding. The problem was that all too often, I immediately got into the technical weeds, and the listeners had no idea what the main point was, so they stopped listening. This is what many (most) novice speakers do. It requires someone older and more experienced to slap you upside the head and show you the way.

44 Here's a little anecdotal evidence for you as well. I'm pretty meticulous on groceries (call me boring if you like, but I tend to get the same items each time with minor discrepancies). My last trip had a total about 15% lower than normal.

While I'd like to attribute that to dropping inflation. And, that may be part of it. I tend to think that the lowering fuel prices, dropping regulations, and increase in supply chain shipping (lowering hauling costs) plays a part in that as well.

This will be the primary issue in the midterms. So, I'm elated to see visible progress either way.

You would be wrong. If you read the actual orders, it is blockading internationally sanctioned ships from entering or leaving a port. In fact, a seizure order was signed by a federal judge before the tanker was seized and boarded.

Those flying without flags or without valid registration have no protections under international law from being boarded and seized or even destroyed and thus cannot claim the protection of a nation at sea.

And in the case of Iran, Venezuela, etc., if the nation itself commits violations of international sanctions, then the ships, planes, etc. of that nation can be seized as a matter of international law.

The problem with this is many LIVs think when politicians talk about inflation its the same as prices. So if Trump solved inflation then prices should go to pre-Biden levels.

But that's not how inflation works. Thanks to Trump-enomics prices will increase slowly like they did before Biden, but it won't resolve Biden doubling prices during his regime.

I'm kind of surprised people haven't realized by now if there's one thing Trump does, and sometimes people say to a fault, it's play by the rules. He has gone out of his way to obey ever court order and every legal rule.

It doesn't mean he won't press the edges to get things done but Trump is probably the most law abiding person we've had in the Oval Office in many years.

Polls often use the most lenient of standards in doing these sorts of polls. All adults whether they are foreigners residing here legal or illegal, felons barred from voting, and not registered to vote.

They usually do not do geographic weighting on selection either for such 'national' polling so using RDD, it can give too much weight to places like CA, NY, IL and less to places like TX or FL.

Polls are useful for trend analysis if they use a consistent sampling frame over time but less useful until registered voters and then likely voters screening of samples start appearing in July or so.

Early in the WoT, Capital Hill Blue published an expose that American military personnel were torturing captured jihadis and there source was, according to them, a well vetted national security resource they had worked with for years.

Their story fell apart though when in the provided videos the supposed US military members were wearing uniforms made up from random services and eventually they admitted the story was false.

But...clearly this was a major propaganda effort. Someone made those videos and tried to get people that looked like US military. And then that was it. No investigation. No revelation of the source. Nothing.

Maybe Capital Hill Blue made it up, but I think they were just a friendly source to dump propaganda on. And thanks to Shrub no one did anything about it...

2) He wanted everyone to focus on the tone.

2) They will ignore the other, just as important part: He has laid out his agenda for the next 11 months; more freedom, more prosperity, more America.

And the Dems are going to focus on the tone, how he's wrong, how bad things are.
While falling into Step 1: Get the Dems on the wrong side of the issue.
The issue is "who is going to fix this?"

What polling picks up consistently is that a lot of voters are transactional--promise them government largesse, they say YAY regardless of the long term effects. Promise them cheaper crap to buy, "Yay", more jobs "Yay", etc.

They vote solely in view of themselves and perhaps their family and whether on the balance they are getting something from gov. Otherwise they don't care about a lot of issues that don't affect them.

Like Venezuela, Ukraine, the near war between India and Pakistan, murdered Christians in Nigeria and Sudan, or Ham Ass killing or being killed.

Well, in the US at least, it triggers a whole lot of power embedded in statutes since at least WWI such as being able to conscript if needed, mucho power to regulate wages and prices including rationing, augmented seizure powers for eminent domain for defense purposes, ability to expel or involuntarily detain persons with the enemy country's nationality without review, seizure power over enemy assets in this and other countries, and so on.

There is a reason Congress has not declared war since WWII and Truman in the Korean Conflict considered it briefly then decided against it, in part, because Congress was well aware of executive power increase during war.

The draft was a thing until 1973 without a declaration of war.

It is also very important in terms of international law. Carter briefly considered asking for a declaration of war against Iran because, the theory goes, the Iranian government would be forced to turn the hostages over to a third country for transport back home. (That Iran gave the Vienna Convention of 1961 short shrift to begin with was probably why this idea never went forward.)

Actions that occur in war and are "tantamount to war" are not "official declarations" (see the "police actions" of Korea and Viet Nam). Congress can protect its power to declare war by using its power to either confirm the actions of the executive within 90 days of warlike hostilities. If the President does not get his official Declaration of War, within 60 days, he must cease by the War Powers act.

I certainly did not know anyone in the family, but the main "sign" was in photos of Nick from childhood.

Sanpaku Eyes. In nearly all but one photo I saw of him, and then he's sneering. The poor daughter who found them looks stoned in a lot of photos. The only child who ever looked normal is the son who moved to Texas...he and his wife look normal in the family photos. His smile reaches his eyes.

Since Nick was in rehab from age 15yrs, and admitted to smoking pot at age 14yrs (and buying a hooker with his parent's $)...I think those were signs as well.

Pot exacerbates schizophrenia when a young teen starts smoking it. If I had to take a wild diagnostic guess, I think that is at least part of his problem, and was made 1000% worse with drug addiction and parental wealth and coddling.

Very tiny, limited experience, but my main takeaway was that owners should never fly their own planes. Oh, they love too. It's a similar thrill to racing I guess. But they absolutely should stop.
