Battle finally won by the greatest cavslry charge in history, and the most glorious moment ever for the Polish Winged Hussars.

The way I see it used, it’s meant as an insult, an implication that the people who keep talking about Jews as evil are themselves subhuman illiterates and don’t even know how to spell the object of their obsession.

It was probably a more useful tactic in the days of Illinois Nazis. I doubt the Muslims of Bondi Beach care one way or another as long as they’re allowed to kill more of them.

The same is sadly true of a lot of the old "drugstore" or "codger" blends like Carter Hall (which until recently came in a pouch *inside* a small box) and Granger.

You can still get Half & Half in a pouch, and Captain Black in its various flavors.

106 It seems that the AI bubble may be starting to deflate in a rapid and unplanned manner. (Insty)

Oracle’s collapsing stock shows the AI boom is running into two hard limits: physics and debt markets.

Oracle’s rapid descent from market darling to market warning sign is revealing something deeper about the AI boom, experts say: no matter how euphoric investors became over the last two years, the industry can’t outrun the laws of physics—or the realities of debt financing.

Shares of Oracle have plunged 45% from their September high and lost 14% this week after a messy earnings report revealed it spent $12 billion in quarterly capital expenditures, higher than the $8.25 billion expected by analysts.

Earnings guidance was also weak, and the company raised its forecast for fiscal 2026 capex by another $15 billion. The bulk of that is going into data centers dedicated to OpenAI, Oracle’s $300 billion partner in the AI cycle.

Eventually, investors will expect to see returns on the industry’s massive cap-ex expenses — half a trillion dollars in 2024, another $550-$600 billion in 2025, and likely that much more again in 2026.

It did indeed, as a nod to Peter Allan Fields. He was a story editor and writer on DS9, and he had been one of the two or three top writers for U.N.C.L.E. in its day, penning some of their best episodes in Seasons One and Two.

The story goes that he went in to talk to Sam Rolfe, the creator and producer of the show. Fields had never written for TV, so he figured "an act a day couldn't kill you." So he showed up four days later with a complete script, amazing Rolfe, who'd expected to get only a treatment at that point. And they shot it.

There was an article a couple of days ago that described a push by Elon and others to eventually build data centers in space. This would have the benefit of constant solar power, radiative cooling, and no need to use up yet more terrestrial real estate for data centers. The cost of getting all the necessary hardware into space is an obvious impediment.

168 Battle Of Vienna
Pauwel Casteels

Venimus, vidimus et Deus Vicit

👍

"The Siege and Battle of Vienna[a] took place at Kahlenberg Mountain near Vienna on 12 September 1683[2] after the city had been besieged by the Ottoman Empire for two months. The battle was fought by the Holy Roman Empire, led by the Habsburg monarchy, and the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, both under the command of Polish King John III Sobieski, against the Ottomans and their vassal and tributary states. The battle marked the first time the Commonwealth and the Holy Roman Empire had cooperated militarily against the Ottomans. The defeat was a major turning point for the Ottoman Empire and their expansion into Europe, after which they would gain no further ground." Wikipedia, in part.

Venimus, vidimus, Deus vicit (or Venimus, vidimus et Deus vicit) is a Latin phrase meaning "We came, we saw, God conquered," a religious adaptation of Julius Caesar's famous "Veni, vidi, vici" ("I came, I saw, I conquered"), famously used by Polish King John III Sobieski after his decisive victory over the Ottomans at the Battle of Vienna in 1683, attributing the triumph to divine intervention. I'm not a fan of this one. Its dark and the muddy colors make it an almost indistinguishable blob. Perhaps if one were standing on a hill above the fray this is what it would truly look like.... A mass of people and horses moving around with very little distinction and very hard to really see what's going on. I suppose that makes it an accurate representation but still not a fan.

Ferrari is already making smaller displacement, high revving and more horsepower with round cylinders. The ovals will give them more room for more displacement and more horsepower. Their cars are already $200k and up. What do they care about what's 'inexpensive to make?' They'll still sell out the showrooms.

After Robert Reich and Robert Di Nero, he may have been the most vituperative, vindictive and vehement critic of Trump and his administrations around, which is a bronze medal in partisan lunacy earned from a very crowded field of competitors.
