Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | "Intentional Negligence"? FBI Had J6 Bomber's Cell Phone Putting Him at the Scene of the Crime... Five Years AgoIf the FBI had cell phone records of 10,000 people's cell phones sending signals from near the RNC and DNC on the night the bombs were planted, I could understand not finding the suspect. With a suspect list of 10,000 people, I guess I could understand the claim, "We just didn't have the manpower to run down every phone." Guess how many cell phones they actually had records of in the vicinity of the RNC and DNC at the time when the bombs were being planted? Fewer than 200. No, i do not believe the FBI "just didn't have the resources" to look into 186 suspects -- not when they showed they could mobilize every agent to track down every grandma within ten blocks of the Capitol on January 6th. So was this a case of "intentional negligence"? Miranda Divine:Surely there's more to it than that. Director Kash Patel hinted Friday at a reason the FBI under Biden administration Director Christopher Wray may not have wanted to solve the case: "intentional negligence." 'Corrupted' cell data This, after all, was the FBI that managed to round up and charge 1,500 supporters of President Trump who set foot anywhere vaguely near the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, tracking them down through cellphone pings and video footage. Yet with all its technical ability, Wray's FBI somehow missed the phone used by the suspect in the vicinity of the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee headquarters on the evening of Jan. 5 when the pipe bombs were planted. Surveillance footage shows the suspect, wearing a gray hoodie and COVID-style white mask, seemingly talking on the phone while walking around that night less than half a mile from the Capitol. According to an FBI document presented to the DC District Court during his arraignment Friday, Cole's cellphone "engaged in approximately seven data session transactions with [his cellphone provider's] towers between 7:39 p.m. and 8:24 p.m. ... in the area of the RNC and DNC on January 5, 2021," locating him in the right place at the right time. That information was obtained by the FBI within weeks of the discovery of the pipe bombs the next day. Investigators found 186 cellphone numbers "of interest" and 130 "devices of interest," according to the congressional report released this January by the chairmen of the House Oversight and Judiciary subcommittees, Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.).They only bothered looking into 36 of the 186 phone numbers? Let me guess - the 36 they looked into were Trump supporting Republicans, right? Then there is the curious tale of the "corrupted" cellphone data that turned out not to be corrupted at all. The story came from Steve D'Antuono, head of the FBI's Washington field office until his retirement in December 2022, who was in charge of the crucial first year of the pipe bomb case as well as the Capitol riot investigation, which has been described as the biggest in FBI history. He was assigned to Washington one month before the 2020 election from his previous role in Detroit, when he ran the disastrous Gretchen Whitmer "fednapping" case that resulted in multiple mistrials and acquittals, amid claims of FBI entrapment of patsies. D'Antuono, who has since found a job at KPMG, also led the controversial FBI raid on Trump's home, Mar-a-Lago, in August 2022. He claims he opposed the raid but was overruled by then-Deputy FBI Director Paul Abbate. In any case, in June 2023, D'Antuono testified before Congress, claiming that the FBI had received "corrupted data" in the pipe bomb case from one of the three major cellphone carriers and that may have been the reason it couldn't find the culprit. It gets worse. The FBI didn't release any pictures of the suspect that could identify him -- and one investigator claims that the FBI deliberately blurred out the one part of his face that was clearly visible in the surveillance footage, his eyes. Why would they do that, if not to conceal his identity? I don't know if I'm ready to believe that. It's a claim made by someone looking at the video and determining that he sees "pixelation" added to the video to obscure Brian Cole, Jr.'s eyes. I remember other claims about "chromatic aberrations" not turning out to be true. But I would like this investigated further. ... But by the end of February 2021, according to Loudermilk and Massie's report, the bureau actively began diverting resources away from the pipe bomb investigation. At the same time, Wray and Abbate were ramping up resources to track down and aggressively prosecute trespassing J6 grandmothers.Miranda Divine concludes that the political operators of the FBI didn't want to taint their Trump Did the J6 Insurrection narrative with any information that might undermine it, and started winding down the investigation when it looked like the main suspect was not a MAGA grandma. ++++ Fine, as far as it goes. But it implies that somebody knew. Obviously not a "MAGA Grandma," but not at *all* obviously not someone affiliated. A dude is a dude until context is added. So if they suppressed this - and it looks like they did, any questions about doctoring the footage notwithstanding - then they had a reason. The only reason for suppressing it is either because they're not sure who it is (which would call for publicity - a "have you seen this man" kind of thing) or because they *are* pretty sure who it is. The latter is more likely, so the only real question is *how* they knew. Either he was one of their boys, or they found out who he was. So they either had a patsy they set up, or they actually did their jobs and investigated but then buried it. I don't see another reasonable conclusion, but am open to hearing other arguments. Chromatic aberrations suck in real world sight. The worse your eye sight gets the higher the refraction index and thickness gets of your lenses. At some point you end up basically trying to see through prisms. I think my eyesight has now stabilized into a nominal level of very shitty, so at least it's not going to get worse. But large variations of light, will separate into offset colors. So not only do you get weird colors but things displace and multiply. Mostly towards your periphery, not generally straight center of view. But it does suck.

The fact that the DOJ under various presidents during that time period wouldn’t take action on their investigations wasn’t their fault, and even “conservative” Democrats like Henry “Scoop” Jackson and Stu Symington would make sure Senate investigations turned on the whistleblowers instead of the perps (just like today). But clearly at some fairly defined point in time the F.B.I. lost their mojo and started doing dirty. By the time Janet “Butch” Reno was large and in charge, certainly, but long before then, too. Sometime after the Church committee hearings? Arguably they played a role in ousting Nixon? So it’s been 50 years easy. Very sad. Miranda Divine:
Surely there's more to it than that. Director Kash Patel hinted Friday at a reason the FBI under Biden administration Director Christopher Wray may not have wanted to solve the case: "intentional negligence." This is the same Miranda Divine who played the NY Post patsy, publishing an article where 'insiders' at the FBI tried to frag Patel and Bongino as people leading a 'rudderless' FBI and were only in it for 'resume padding'. That article came out just a few days before the FBI actually caught Cole for the J5 pipe bomb plantings. I'm a fan of Divine, but that was not her best moment. The F.B.I. used to be good shit.
Very sad. ——- It “worked”, but …. Donald Trump is President. Oops My view is they are stupid. They are selfish, which is worse. Even the appearance or perception, rightly or wrongly, that elections are not legitimate is absolute poison for the system and anyone who cares about their country and its inhabitants would do anything to avoid this. One would want to dispel such ideas. With sunlight and transparency. “Oh, you want to look under the hood of our election system? By all means!” Did they do that? Fuck no. Not even a little bit. They just said “Fuck You” and decided to arrest anyone that complained. Not a prescription for confidence going forward. Ask them, what WOULD be the acceptable response by America if it were proven a presidential election were stolen by Democrats? What would they expect people to do? What is the remedy for that? “Vote Harder” is not a remedy. Posted by: Common Tater at December 09, 2025 04:50 PM (wJccJ) 113

--- I have not made this claim, however, I remember from the Rittenhouse fiasco that security cameras these days usually have stunning quality. And that getting this kind of graininess often takes interference. The graininess in these pics seems to me to be under that capability of current security cameras. Posted by: illiniwek at December 09, 2025 04:51 PM (vbXSk) ++++ They actively communicate all the time. I am not sure what a "data transaction" is, but they also probably happen more or less constantly. Get an email and you receive a push notification? Get a notification Whether location is involved would depend on the applications involved, but it also isn't needed. The tower *must* know who is connected to it. The nearby towers probably also do, if the phone connects to multiple towers (which it will during handoff, if not earlier). Triangulation works and no device location is needed because the tower locations are known. Even a connection to a single tower gets you a likely radius. Pick the closest tower to the target, and see who was connected. Even without greater precision than that, it's a highly-effective filter for narrowing down the list. The tower knows what is connected at any given time, and can infer how far away the device is (signal strength). Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at December 09, 2025 04:59 PM (azrRX) 146

—— You can say that, but I know better, from my reading of history. They did excellent work at what they were tasked to do. As so often the case, it was congress who caused the problems to persist. It was Harry Truman who absconded with all the State Department personnel background check and loyalty files. He wouldn’t let congressman look at them. The FBI had files on all sorts of scurvy fuckheads. It’s like the cops in Seattle or Portland. If your bosses are leftist dickheads, you ain’t gonna bust your ass to do arrest bad guys. Modern phones are constantly tracking their own location... and it's been shown that I phones are sending the info off periodically... even if you are in Airplane mode... it waits to connect then sends off the data. And as Phone companies seem quite willing to give that info to the Feds, even without any warrant? My phone right now knows down to a few feet, exactly where it is, and shows the location of my truck 30 feet away, even though it is not even connected to my truck. They are not tracking via cell tower... but they don't want to tell you HOW they are actually getting that data. Posted by: Romeo13 at December 09, 2025 05:06 PM (mP0Kj) 176

Michael Cohen was never in Vienna. Posted by: JackStraw at December 09, 2025 05:01 PM (viF8m) ++++ The method isn't actually bad, but it depends on two things: 1. Understanding that "the device is there" does *not* necessarily mean "the person who owns the device is there." It requires other corroboration. 2. Knowing that the device that's there is the device you're looking for. Neither was the case with the "Cohen in Vienna" thing. It was either the wrong device (a device belonging to a different Michael Cohen, for example), or an outright fabrication. "The device pinged the tower" is not itself meaningless, but it depends both on knowing what the device is *and* knowing that the person who owns the device was with it at the time. It ain't magic. Posted by: Romeo13 at December 09, 2025 05:06 PM (mP0Kj) ++++ They probably are, because it's a hell of a first-pass filter. The device needs to be connected to function. So you can look through gigantic databases from numerous service providers for a geographic range (hard) or narrow it down fast by just looking at what was connected to likely towers during the interesting period. If desired, you can then pull records for those devices. It's probably much easier and faster to start with a subset of the data first. I dunno. I've never done it. (I'm going to go wayyyyy out on the conspiracy theory limb)
Consider the fact that the J6 Committee (Lynching party) destroyed a significant amount of their documentation (illegally). There was, obviously, a selfish reason for that. They likely were communicating directly with the FBI, and some of those communications could easily have been instructing the FBI to back off of the J5 bomber once it was established that he, not only, didn't fit the narrative or their purpose, but diametrically was opposite of what they were trying to do. NOW, consider the wealth of undestroyed documentation that was sitting down the FBI burn room. You have to assume that some of that information included communication documentation. And, while the J6 Committee brazenly destroyed evidence, the FBI might not have been so thorough. I think the fall out from this is going to outweigh the incident by 10 fold....eventually. I wonder how much taxpayer money was spent paying the networks for good PR. Posted by: Chuck Martel ------------ Not just networks. They did a lot of work with Hollywood. When you think about it, it's pretty amazing that cellphones work at all. Somewhere, there must be a record kept of all the ping transactions of all phones, so that if I call 555-555-1212, the system knows to route my call to the last tower pinged by that phone.
Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon ----------- It's hierarchical, like the old AT&T system. They don't need a master list, they just have to Id who is keeping track of that particular phone number. Do you know how common it was to insinuate that Joe McCarthy was queer for his brother?
——- That was because Alger Hiss and Whittaker Chambers were queers. That’s how the urbane, sophisticated Hiss got to “know” such a clod in the first place, after all. Read Whitewashed By History about Sen. McCarthy. They use the exact same playbook then as now. My point is the F.B.I. wasn’t classifying Americans as subversives and “White Supremacists” in those days. They rightly considered Communism as a threat to our system of government. All that changed at some point, and dramatically so. To try and equate the 1940s F.B.I. with the 1990s F.B.I. is retarded. Maybe they were SOBs then, too, but they were our SOBs. —— It would be helpful if you read what I wrote. That is exactly what I’m saying. They went bad, long after Roosevelt, Hoover hated FDR and with good reason, probably. At some point there was an institutional focus change. They were going after student radicals and anarchists in the 1960s, maybe not as effectively as they should have, but they were playing for the right team, so to speak. By the 1990s, there was a distinct shift. I would suggest during the Clinton years, but I don’t know for sure. Posted by: Common Tater at December 09, 2025 05:41 PM (Lqx3s) 270

A few years earlier, he was essentially a pimp for Fanny White, one of New Yawk's most successful courtesans. Among their many indiscretions, he took her to England in lieu of his wife when he was on James Buchanan's staff while he was Ambassador. Sickles introduced White around London society (and to Queen Victoria herself) as Miss Bennett, implying that she was the daughter of Sickles' great enemy, James Bennett editor of the NY Herald. Sickles thought this was hilarious, at least until someone ratted him out, causing a scandal. Unlike most Democrat assholes, Sickles had a sense of humor. 186 people is a pretty small lift, investigation wise.
They have the cell phone records, which means they have the names. they can go on-line and start to eliminate many of these people just by searching social media, etc. For example, the bomber was not obese, the bomber was right-handed, the height of the bomber can be pretty accurately estimated. etc. That should have narrowed the list to a couple of dozen people. They had FOUR YEARS to get this done. 2-3 agents were more than sufficient to solve the case. Most of the work being done on-line. Reminds me of that Kevin Costner movie, no way out. They have a picture of the killer, who may be Kevin Costner. A computer is slowly enhancing the photo. Costner then gives the order to "re-process" it, delaying his revelation as the potential killer. By the by, thew FBI is able to pull in all the resources they need to do big investigations - police, sheriffs, even regular citizens. When they scour an open field, with 50 people, shoulder to shoulder, only about 10% of those people are FBI. Rest are military or civil volunteers.
This lack of resources stuff is just bullshit. If the job is crunching a lot of data they have all the resources they need. It took under a year for the current FBI to solve the cold case - and they did so starting with 5-year-old data that they already had in the files. The case didn't get solved because the FBI and Biden didn't want it to be solved. That is the only possible conclusion. Posted by: El Mariachi - Attorney at Law at December 09, 2025 06:01 PM (C3IAS) 275
It's not just this case - look at the current FBIs record in solving cases lately. They had 112,000 arrests from Jan. 20 through late June 2025 compared with roughly 51,000 arrests over the same calendar window in 2024. They are arresting DOUBLE the number of bad guys as before Trump. Why? what changed? My guess is DEI bullshit is sucking up less time. They are also demanding more results. They are focused on actual crime, not bullshit political nonsense. They stopped playing footsie with terrorist groups like antifa. They are prosecuting people. They are playing hardball.
